Chapter 29: Two Heavenly Dragons
"Ah, could I ask you to wait a moment?"
The voice came from above, belonging to no one present. Everyone turned toward the source, their eyes widening as they beheld the figure who had appeared without warning.
Bathed in the faint light of the moon, a pure white silhouette hovered in the sky. Clad in a shining full plate of pristine white armor, the figure radiated an otherworldly light.
Eight luminous wings of light stretched from its back, cutting through the darkness like blades.
Every eye was drawn to the ethereal being, its presence both awe-inspiring and suffocating.
"The Vanishing Dragon... What brings you here?" Kokabiel muttered, his voice filled with tension.
'The Vanishing Dragon?' Kazuki's mind raced.
'Could this be the other Heavenly Dragon that Ddraig mentioned? The White Dragon Emperor, Albion, sealed within the Sacred Gear Divine Dividing—the current wielder of such incredible power?'
"Be wary, partner. That one has already reached Balance Breaker. This means they're far stronger than you as things stand. Be cautious."
Ddraig's sudden warning made Kazuki's chest tighten. 'What the hell? So that form was...'
"I've been sent by Azazel to forcibly drag your ass back if necessary," the White Dragon Emperor's voice—a raspy, undeniably feminine tone—cut through the air. "Though I must admit, I didn't expect to find you defeated already."
"Tch!" Kokabiel clicked his tongue in frustration.
Kazuki's surprise deepened, 'This White Dragon Emperor was a woman?' And despite the husky undertone, her voice held an undeniable air of authority.
"Well, this certainly makes my job easier. I'll be taking these two now. That's not a problem, is it, Rias Gremory?" the White Dragon Emperor asked, her tone cold yet mocking.
"Damn it..." Rias bit her lip in frustration, clearly aware of the overwhelming power gap between them.
The sheer pressure radiating from the White Dragon Emperor was enough to pin Kazuki and the others where they stood. This was power on an entirely different level.
"Ignoring me, are you, White One?"
As the White Dragon Emperor spread her glowing wings and hoisted Kokabiel and Valper under each arm, Ddraig's voice rang out with irritation.
"Awake, are you, Red One?"
The gem on the White Dragon Emperor's armor glimmered as Albion's voice responded.
"It's been some time since we've met, and yet you're unusually submissive. Has your fighting spirit diminished?"
"Hmph. The outcome would be obvious if we clashed now. Your host has far surpassed mine—though he'll catch up eventually."
"That's true. I appreciate the candor, Ddraig."
"We're destined to fight someday. Train your host well until then. Farewell, Albion."
With that, the conversation between the two Heavenly Dragons ended. The White Dragon Emperor gave no acknowledgment of the exchange and prepared to leave.
"Damn it! Hey, you're just gonna leave without even saying hello?" Issei shouted, summoning every ounce of his pride.
"I'm the Red Dragon Emperor of this generation. However, I'll not be ignored like this."
The White Dragon Emperor paused, though she didn't even glance in Issei's direction. Instead, her gaze shifted, her piercing eyes locking onto Kazuki.
"To be honest, you're not nearly as interesting to me as he is," she said, her voice dripping with indifference as her attention turned toward Kazuki's upperclassman.
'What the hell?! Was he just beneath her notice?'
"Right now, you're lacking in everything—power, knowledge, and presence. Do your best to grow stronger, little rival," she said, her tone condescending yet laced with a twisted sense of encouragement.
And with that, the White Dragon Emperor disappeared into the night sky, her glowing wings fading into the distance.
"...Is it over?" a voice was muttered, the words carrying the weight of finality. The chaotic incident had finally come to an end.
Several days passed since that fateful night_____
After the White Dragon Emperor's departure, Grayfia arrived with reinforcements, and the cleanup began immediately.
Interrogations followed, targeting Rias, Kazuki, Yumi, and even Irina and the others. However, the Church faction was so shattered by the fact of God's existence that most were in a state of stunned silence, unable to answer any questions.
Once the dust settled, Rias and Akeno remained tied up with formalities in the Underworld, Issei was busy tending to a shaken Asia, and Koneko had collapsed into a cycle of eating and sleeping to recover from her exhaustion.
As for Yumi...
"Senpai!"
Yumi's cheerful voice rang out after school, shattering Kazuki's brief moment of solitude as he headed home.
"Are you on your way home?" she asked, her vibrant smile shining like the sun.
"Yeah."
"Can I walk with you?"
"Sure."
"Yes!" Yumi's enthusiasm was infectious as she fell into step beside him, her joy practically radiating off her.
Her bright demeanor immediately drew attention, and Kazuki could feel the envious glares from his male classmates piercing him.
Yumi was widely regarded as one of the top beauties of her year, often paired with Asia in terms of popularity. And now, seeing her so openly clinging to Kazuki only fueled the flames of jealousy among the boys.
"So, what are you doing for dinner tonight, Senpai?" Yumi asked, completely ignoring the stares of others.
"Rias won't be back tonight, so I was planning to grab something simple outside," Kazuki replied casually.
"If you'd like, why don't you come to my place for dinner? It's a small way to thank you for everything the other night," Yumi offered, a slight blush creeping onto her cheeks.
Considering the alternative of eating alone, Kazuki found the idea of a home-cooked meal more appealing.
"Alright, I'll take you up on that," he said with a nod.
"Great! Let's stop by the supermarket first. What would you like senpai?" Yumi beamed, grabbing Kazuki's arm and leading the way.
After shopping, Yumi Kiba brought Kazuki to her apartment. She explained that she had originally lived with Rias and Koneko but decided to move out when she started high school.
Now, standing at the entrance of her cozy one-bedroom apartment, Kazuki couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. It was his first time being invited into the home of a girl living alone.
The atmosphere carried an oddly intimate weight that he couldn't quite shake.
