Chapter 12: THE NIGHT IS VERY LONG - 03
[VICTORY]
"Arg! Darn it! I lost again!"
Nayun exclaimed, sinking into the couch and letting out a frustrated sigh.
It was her twenty-fifth consecutive loss. The game had even started well, with her securing a victory in her first round. But from the second round onward, it was a complete disaster, an endless streak of defeats that left her exhausted and bitter.
Theo, her opponent, seemed to have specialized in humiliating her in every possible way.
"Want to go again?"
Theo asked, with that mischievous smile on his face.
"Continue?"
Nayun glanced at him sideways, trying not to show her growing anger. Continue? Just to be massacred again? No, she wasn't that much of a masochist.
"What a pity."
"Pity for me, right?"
She retorted, gripping the controller so tightly that her fingers were starting to hurt.
"Not exactly."
He smiled, reminding her in a whisper.
"Did you forget what you said? 'Life isn't always a sweet strawberry', right?"
He leaned in, bringing his face closer to hers, with a provocative smile on his lips.
Nayun felt a sudden urge to punch him, that same smug smile she had worn when she won the first match now on another face deeply irritated her.
"Tsk!"
"Well! At least today I tasted something much sweeter than a strawberry."
Hearing those shameless words, Nayun tried to hide between her knees.
"You're just taking advantage of me."
"That's true. And how could I not? I'm with the girl I like, so I have to make the most of it."
Nayun's eyes widened, this guy.
"A shameless smooth-faced guy."
Not even a hint of a crack was visible on his face.
"..."
A small idea came to her mind.
"Heh! Let's see how you react if I do that again."
Remembering how he reacted when she kissed his neck, a beautiful smile formed on Nayun's lips.
She dropped the controller on the couch and threw her hands around the neck of the boy in front of her, and just as she was about to bring her face even closer to his.
"I think we should stop here."
Huh? Stop? Why?
"Of course, if you want to sleep with me, I won't complain at all."
Wait, sleep with him? Isn't that too much?
Even though their relationship had skipped so many steps that are normally necessary in a regular relationship, still, sleeping together is...
"Well"
Theo interrupted her thoughts, casually checking his watch.
"It's less than ten minutes to nine..."
They stared at each other for a few seconds.
"What?! Nine o'clock?"
Quickly tapping on her smartwatch, in the top left corner of the holographic screen, there she saw the time.
20:54
Without saying a word, she ran out of the room to the bathroom, and a few moments later, she returned carrying her clothes in her arms.
"Theo, can you use your Gift to create something to put my clothes in? Like a backpack."
"Sure."
In a few seconds, the backpack was created in front of them.
"Done"
He handed the backpack to her, and she quickly opened it and threw her clothes inside.
She put the backpack on her back and walked over to Theo to say goodbye.
"Huh!"
"Come on, I'll walk you to your dorm."
Something she didn't expect happened, with her hand being held by Theo's, they both went outside.
"Wait. Are you an idiot? If any instructor catches you out here after curfew, you'll lose a lot of points."
Immediately Nayun tried to make Theo go back and not accompany her.
There were many rules for those who attended Cubo.
Among these rules were the more serious ones, which could cause cadets who broke them to face major problems.
Like...
Always wear your uniform within Cubo's premises.
Never use your personal weapon when it's not necessary.
Never be late to a class.
Do not use your Gift against other cadets when there is no class, test, or exam in progress.
Do not be outside your dorm after curfew.
"Don't worry. Nothing will happen."
"Nothing will happen? Aren't you afraid of losing your points? Suffering a point deduction is not good, your ranking could even drop because of that."
Nayun whispered, looking around, clearly nervous. It was against the rules to walk around Cubo after the allowed time, and both knew that breaking these rules could bring serious trouble.
"Since you're so worried about me. Let's do this."
Suddenly, Nayun felt something strange in her body. It was as if it was dissolving into the air. She looked down and saw her arms slowly disappearing, until she could no longer see anything of herself.
"Theo, my body... it's disappearing."
"Calm down. It's a spell I used, this is an ability that can make us invisible to others."
This illusion spell allows the caster to alter their own appearance or create illusory scenes that never happened. It also enables invisibility to the naked eye, both for themselves and for others.
_Hello!
"Eeh!"
Theo's voice sounded in her mind, slightly startling her.
_I'm using telepathy to talk to you.
Theo explained, his voice echoing softly in her thoughts.
_It wouldn't make sense for us to be invisible and still keep talking out loud, right?
"Pff!"
Nayun chuckled softly, her initial tension began to dissipate. Despite the apprehension, she decided to trust him. If he said it was okay, then she could only continue following him to her dorm.
"Theo..."
_Use your mind.
_Okay. It's weird talking like this, but alright.
_Continue...
_This Gift of yours. Does it give you many abilities? If you don't want to answer, it's fine, after all, someone's Gift is a secret that shouldn't be told to just anyone.
She had already seen him use so many abilities today that it was impossible to remain just curious.
_Something like that. Just think of me as someone special who can do almost anything.
_Everything?
Nayun was intrigued, not hiding her admiration.
_What you've shown so far is already amazing.
Creation, summoning, temperature manipulation, telekinesis, invisibility, and now telepathy, how many more things can you do?
_Yes. That was just a taste of what I can do.
Theo replied, with a hint of mystery.
_Of course, if you want to know more, I'll tell you. But only if you accept a condition.
Nayun frowned, intrigued.
_Condition?
_Yes.
He replied, his voice sounding casual and playful.
_Let me tell you everything after you become my girlfriend.
Ba-dum! Ba-dum!
Nayun's heart raced, and she felt her face heat up upon hearing those words resonate in her mind.
Boyfriend? Had she ever thought about such things? No, she didn't have time to think about that, not when she was training daily to become a worthy hero. Not when she didn't know a way to wake her brother.
_Don't worry too much. There's plenty of time for you to answer me. Of course, until then you'll have to find out what I'm capable of, on your own.
_You...
"We're here!"
Just as she was about to complain, Theo alerted her. Only this time, he wasn't using telepathy.
Snapping out of her thoughts, she saw that her body was back and that beside her was Theo.
"Wow. I didn't even notice we had already arrived."
She hadn't even realized when they had arrived in front of her dorm.
The truth was that from Theo's dorm to Nayun's, it didn't even take two minutes of walking, they were so close, after all, both lived in the same skyscraper and floor.
"Theo! Good night! See you tomorrow in class."
"Is that all?"
"What!?"
"Just a good night? Where's the hug and the goodbye kiss?"
"Kiss? Hug? If someone sees us doing that here, it could cause us a lot of trouble."
"Ah! Okay. It's just that I imagined you would do that..."
Theo paused for a moment and looked at his hand.
He raised his arm.
"You haven't let go of my hand until now."
After Theo used his invisibility ability, Nayun, out of fear, intuitively held his hand tightly until now without realizing it.
"Eh... Well..."
Even though she saw that it was her who was still holding him, her fingers were hesitant to let go.
"You have to be more true to yourself."
Hearing those words, Nayun turned her face away in embarrassment.
To say that she wanted to kiss and hug him, that was impossible to happen.
"I... am not that shameless."
The only one like that was him, not her.
"Oh! Really?"
Theo tilted his head and smiled with amusement, a glint of mischief in his eyes.
"I think the person who said she wasn't innocent before kissing me was just my imagination."
Nayun's eyes widened, surprised and mortified as she remembered her boldness in that moment. Her cheeks flushed even more, and she tried to find a response, but the words got tangled.
"Pff"
Theo chuckled softly, the subtle sound escaping his lips as he watched her intently, appreciating every detail of Nayun's embarrassed expression. Her face was tinged with a slight blush, and, in an attempt to hide her nervousness, she lowered her eyes, staring at the floor.
"J-just a little."
"What? I couldn't hear you."
Theo teased, leaning closer, his tone mischievous and playful.
She took a deep breath, trying to muster courage, before looking up.
"I said... just a kiss. We've been here in the hallway too long."
Looking at the girl struggling to speak, he couldn't hold back his laughter.
"Hahaha! This way of yours... it's so cute. It makes me want you even more."
He let out a pleasant laugh, the gleam in his red eyes making it clear how much he was enjoying the situation.
With a decisive and gentle movement, he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer. Nayun didn't have time to react, caught off guard, she felt the warmth of his body close to hers. The firm yet careful touch made her heart race even more.
Tilting her head back slightly, she met Theo's gaze, who was looking at her intensely.
Nayun stood on her tiptoes. Showing what she wanted.
Theo responded, accepting her advance, their lips overlapping each other.
"Ah!"
A few seconds later, they separated, with Theo being the first to speak.
"I think it's time to go." Looking beyond the hallway, he said.
"Someone's coming.."
After he gained Anos' extremely heightened senses, Theo could notice things even in other dimensions if he wanted to, and thanks to these senses, he realized that someone was about to enter this hallway.
"Eeeh! Really? Then bye! See you tomorrow."
Nayun replied with a slightly disappointed air, but quickly regained her composure.
"Bye! Good night Nayun, dream of angels, or better... dream of me."
She rolled her eyes.
"Hmpf! Who's going to dream of you."
He laughed, stepping back a few steps.
"Alright, if you won't, I'll definitely dream of you. Especially... of the sight of your beautiful mountains."
Nayun's face instantly flushed.
"You... y-you...!"
Stammering, she tried to formulate a response, but the words simply escaped her.
"Bye! Bye!"
Before Nayun could respond, he disappeared in a flash of green light, using teleportation to leave. She stood still for a few seconds, her heart still racing.
"Let's go in!"
When the presence Theo had detected approached the hallway, Nayun was already on her way, entering her dorm, with a slight smile and her face still slightly flushed.
