Reincarnated In The Body Of A Manipulative Evil Vampire

Chapter 8: Chapter Eight - The Magic of the Travelers

Bozhe moĭ, (My God) I did it! I told her the truth! I suddenly feel so free…

"Ahem..." Liliya cleared her throat, sounding impatient.

Don't tell me I just said all of that only in my head... Why me?! Kurva! (Damn it!)

"I... I remember my... my past life! I know it's hard to believe, but I promise you, it's the truth... In my previous life, my name was Erika Smith, and I was 16 years old when I died..."

I decided to stop for a moment to gauge Liliya's reaction, and I wasn't disappointed. Liliya stared at me with wide, incredulous eyes, her lips pressed into a thin line.

It was obvious from miles away that she was doing everything in her power not to interrupt me, ask questions, or possibly insult me — take your pick.

"When I was Erika... there was a story I loved dearly... It was called The Vampire Diaries, and... it was mainly about vampires, witches, werewolves, hunters, travelers, and the Petrova doppelgängers..."

I fixed my gaze on my shoes, unable to bear the thought of seeing Liliya's expression right now.

"Liliya... where I come from... Katerina Petrova is a fictional character from The Vampire Diaries... I was reincarnated as Katerina while retaining my memories as Erika and knowing what was going to happen... You probably think I'mcompletely crazy and will tell me you never want to see me again now, but I had to tell you! I wanted you to know the truth about me! I didn't want to lie to you, or even..."

I couldn't say anything more because Liliya pulled me into her arms, rocking me back and forth. That's when I felt the tears streaming down my face.

My nerves had completely given out, and here I was, crying like a child even though I had 30 years of life experience between Erika and Katerina. How pathetic...

Liliya kept gently rocking me, stroking my hair until I finally stopped crying.

"Listen to me, Katerina... I don't know what to think about what you just told me, but I believe you..."

Wait, what? She believes me? That's impossible! No one would believe such a ridiculous story!

"Katerina, let me remind you that I'm a Traveler. My very existence is tied to the supernatural... Besides, I'd make a terrible Traveler if I had a closed mind," She joked.

A Traveler talking about having an open mind — now I've heard it all. Travelers have despised witches ever since the latter cast a curse on them, but they harbor an even deeper hatred for witches who draw their power from spirits and nature, believing they taint the earth.

I chuckled softly, then decided to tell her about Katherine's life as well. Might as well lay it all out there... It felt so good to finally talk about it! Liliya didn't interrupt me once, her eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and concern, especially when I brought up the danger that was Klaus.

"Liliya? Do you hate me now?"

"Why would I hate you?"

"Well... I've been hiding the truth about myself for 10 years. And on top of that, I..."

"It doesn't matter who you were before or who Katherine was! To me, she and you are not the same person at all! You're my friend — no, my twin sister, older by one year, while she's a stranger I don't want to meet..."

In the end, Liliya had accepted all of me, despite the sword of Damocles hanging over my head, threatening to fall at any moment and likely dragging down those I love with me!

"Katerina, aren't you curious about who Katherine had a child with, which led to her being banished?"

"I have to admit, I am curious. But I don't know what to do yet. On one hand, I don't want Tatko to be mad at me if I end up doing the same thing Katherine did. On the other hand, the Petrova bloodline has to continue... Ugh... I don't know what to do, and I'm seriously running out of time..."

"Except, Katerina, you're forgetting one little detail. You have me, and you're incredibly lucky that I'm a powerful Traveler. Adelia Dragonov said so, so it must be true!" She laughed.

Adelia was indeed a powerful Traveler, according to Mama, so I had no doubt Liliya had the potential to surpass her mother.

"No, but seriously! I could try to figure out who the father of the future — or not — Nadia Petrova is. That is, if you want me to, of course."

"You can do that?"

"Of course, I can! Mama recently gave me her old grimoire. I'm sure there's a spell in there somewhere that can tell us who it is."

She pulled the said grimoire out of her bag. Its cover was made of brown velvet, and in the center was the famous witches' pentagram. Surrounding the pentagram was what seemed to be a spell in either Latin or Ancient Greek, meant to unlock the two massive locks on the book.

"Do you think this is a good idea, Liliya? I mean... we don't know who it might be... I'm scared to find out who it could be."

"Katerina, I'm just going to cast a spell to find out more. You need to at least know who you might have a child with, should you two meet... if you know what I mean," She said, giving me a cheeky wink.

Why is she my friend again?
