Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Talking to Turbo Granny

The next morning, Okarun found himself in an embarrassing predicament—he needed to use the bathroom but couldn't go alone. Without Momo suppressing the curse, the Turbo Granny's influence would take over his body completely. Despite his discomfort, Okarun grudgingly admitted that he had no choice but to let Momo watch over him.

"This is ridiculous," Okarun muttered, his face burning with humiliation.

"You think I want to be here?" Momo shot back, crossing her arms. "If I leave you alone for even a second, you'll go full Turbo Granny on us, and I'll have to deal with that mess. So suck it up."

With no room to argue, Okarun eventually gave in, heading to the bathroom under Momo's watchful eye. Meanwhile, Seiko leaned casually against the wall outside, her expression calm but clearly keeping a close watch.

As Momo glanced over at her grandmother, she suddenly noticed something alarming—blood trickling from Seiko's nose. "Grandma? Are you okay?" she asked, her voice tinged with worry.

Before Seiko could respond, Momo turned back to Okarun and froze in terror. Okarun was gone, and in his place stood the spectral figure of Turbo Granny, her ghastly grin sending chills down Momo's spine.

"It's no use... This is a mere shadow... Time flows only for us..." Turbo Granny hissed, her voice dripping with menace. "My curse is transmissible through this brat. I can curse to death whomever he sees."

Momo's hands clenched into fists, but before she could respond, Turbo Granny leaned closer, her voice dropping to a deadly whisper. "If you want to break the curse, come to the tunnel tonight. Or else…"

Before the threat could fully sink in, Kenji appeared at the corner of the hallway, his usual unbothered demeanor intact. Time seemed to flow differently around him, unaffected by the Turbo Granny's presence.

When Turbo Granny saw him, she paused, her predatory grin faltering. There was something about Kenji—his casual confidence, his piercing gaze—that made her uneasy.

Kenji smirked, as if he could see straight through her. "Don't worry about me," he said in a low voice that only Turbo Granny could hear. "Even though I could erase you in an instant, I know you're not entirely bad. This is just a test, isn't it? I'll allow you to mess with them a little, but step out of line…"

He didn't finish the sentence. Instead, he raised his hand, letting a surge of concentrated energy emanate from it. The sheer intensity made Turbo Granny flinch.

In that moment, she saw it clearly—if Kenji wanted to, he could break Okarun's curse and severely wound her in the process. She shuddered involuntarily.

Kenji's grin widened as he stepped back. Then, as if the tension in the air was nothing, he turned his attention elsewhere.

Momo, meanwhile, was seething. "Why didn't you attack her?" she demanded, glaring at Kenji. "You could've stopped all of this right now!"

Turbo Granny retreated into Okarun's body, and time resumed its natural flow. Kenji shrugged. "Not my problem. I'll intervene if I feel like it. Besides, she's not that bad."

Momo stared at him in disbelief. "Not that bad?! She just threatened to kill us!"

Kenji didn't respond. He simply walked off, his hands in his pockets, leaving Momo fuming. She decided there was no point in arguing with someone so insufferably indifferent.

Later, when Seiko realized her nose was bleeding, she turned to Momo. "What happened? ".

Momo explained everything—Turbo Granny's appearance, her threats, and the condition she'd placed on breaking Okarun's curse. Seiko listened intently, her expression growing more serious with each word.

After a moment of silence, Seiko nodded. "We don't have much time. We'll prepare for tonight."

She began a ritual to ward off lingering spiritual influences and to strengthen their defenses. When it was complete, she handed both Momo and Okarun special temple garments.

"These are like bulletproof vests for dealing with spirits," Seiko explained.

As Momo and Okarun prepared to leave, Seiko pulled her granddaughter into a tight hug. "Don't get killed, okay?"

Momo gave a shaky laugh. "Yeah, okay," she replied, trying to sound confident.

The pair left the house, but they weren't alone for long. Kenji trailed them from a distance, his presence casual yet deliberate.

"Keep an eye on them, will you?" Seiko called after him.

Kenji turned and flashed a grin. "Don't worry. They won't die. Probably."

He followed them to the train station, staying just far enough behind to avoid detection. Once they boarded the train, Kenji finally made his presence known by snapping selfies with Momo and Okarun in the background.

Okarun turned bright red, clearly mortified. "Stop that!" he sputtered.

Momo, however, barely reacted, her patience for Kenji's antics long gone. But when he started taking things too far, she lashed out, aiming a kick at his head.

Kenji, without even turning around, blocked her attack with one hand. "That's the spirit," he said with a smirk. "I'd love to see you do that to Turbo Granny."

Momo huffed, while Kenji plopped down nearby seat, grinning as if he didn't have a care in the world.

As the train neared the tunnel, Kenji busied himself with his phone, scrolling through the photos he'd taken. For a moment, he considered filming the upcoming fight but quickly dismissed the idea—after all, yokai weren't visible to normal human eyes.

When they reached the tunnel entrance, Momo and Okarun began arguing over who should go in first. Their bickering was cut short when Kenji casually strolled past them and into the darkness.

Deep inside the tunnel, Turbo Granny waited, her monstrous form looming in the dim light. Yet, she remained calm, knowing Kenji wouldn't intervene.

Kenji sat cross-legged on the ground in front of her, completely at ease. "You know you can't beat me, right?" he said bluntly.

Turbo Granny hesitated before reluctantly nodding. "Yes."

Kenji leaned back, resting his hands on the ground. "Relax. I'm just here to watch."

Turbo Granny tilted her head, confusion evident. "How?"

"How what?" Kenji asked.

"How can a human possess such power?"

Kenji shrugged. "That's what I'm trying to figure out. My strength doesn't come from any energy source, and I can use it as much as I want without ever feeling drained. There's no limit—or if there is, I haven't found it yet."

Turbo Granny regarded him warily. "So, you're… borrowing this power?"

"Maybe," Kenji said. "But from who—or what—I have no idea. It's not like I've lived the kind of life that deserves a reward like this."

Turbo Granny narrowed her eyes. "And yet, you let me test them."

Kenji nodded. "That's right. Just don't kill them."

With that, he stood and began walking back toward the tunnel entrance, leaving Turbo Granny to prepare for her confrontation with Momo and Okarun.

As he reached the entrance, he leaned against the wall and waited, ready to watch the events unfold.
