Reincarnated In A Mashup Anime World With A Power Randomizer System.

Chapter 6: That did not go as planned.

Author Note:

Before I begin, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates. I only write when I have free, which isn't plenty. Uni work takes up the majority of my time and energy. I'm sure some of you may relate.

So yeah, don't expect me to update every day. At best, I can see myself updating twice a week. Whenever I get a vacation, I may or may not make a mass release, we'll see how it goes.

Now, the important point,

Note that this is a "Mashup World", although the characters belong to other works of fiction this is a wholly different universe, so do expect major changes in the character's personalities and interactions. Some ages are altered too, so don't be surprised by this either. In a sense, I'm only making a story while borrowing the characters from my favorite Mangas and Anime. Apart from the MC, there will be very few OCs.

That's all, hope you are having a wonderful day.

**********************************************************

Adam drove a red range rover that he randomly picked from his parent's garage, while Rumi sat next to him in the front passenger seat.

She forgot to ask him where they were going before. But could you blame her?

The Adam she knew yesterday and the one she is going out with today were like two different persons.

It was commonplace for people to change after awakening.

Rumi and her parents were a perfect example of this.

Since their powers allowed them to obtain animal characteristics each of them had developed personalities that resembled animal traits once they awakened.

'Now that I think about it, rabbits are not aggressive by nature. They only become like that during the breeding season, but they are very well-mannered the rest of the time unless provoked.'

Taking a quick side glance at Rumi, Adam couldn't help but snort mockingly.

' Is she always in heat then~?'

" So, where are we going?"

Rumi asked, halting Adam's delusions.

"*Cough* Right, I forgot about that."

His sudden embarrassment put a smile on Rumi's face, who figured he must have been daydreaming about something weird.

"So?" Asked Rumi with that same smile.

" The Hunter's Association Center. I want to a get hunter's license by today. I can't become one without it, don't you think?"

Rumi opened her eyes in surprise, and a sudden worry came to her mind.

"Adam."

" I know. They wouldn't pay you guys so much if it wasn't a tough job, I know what I'm getting into."

Rumi took a deep sigh and leaned back on her sit. It looked like warning him was unneeded.

" Dad won't like this."

" I'll talk to pops later. I know he worries about me but I'm an awakened adult now. He has to get over it."

" You know that's not it, Adam."

He could see Rumi's sad expression from the corner of his eyes, which automatically told him what she meant.

"I've gone over this countless times for the past ten years already. What happened that day wouldn't have been prevented even if he wasn't out of town. If anything, I'm happy he wasn't, I would've lost him too otherwise."

As soon as these words came out of Adam's mouth a loving smile found its place on Rumi's tanned face, washing her sadness away.

The way he cared for his family, which consisted of her and her parents, was one of the things that she loved about him the most.

No matter how much time passes, or how much he changes, his family will always be his most precious treasure.

" You have changed, Adam."

"Do you hate it?"

Rumi shook her head lightly. Her eyes never left Adam as he carefully drove the SUV.

" No, I love it."

" That's good then."

....

" And here we are."

Adam found himself standing right in front of a fifty-floored building.

The sunlight reflected perfectly on the windowed edification which seemed to be made out of glass. Most guilds that could afford it had a similar infrastructure for their bases, but the majority would pale in comparison to this gigantic building in terms of size and luxury.

'Even my parent's guild isn't as flashy as this place.'

Shrugging, Adam proceeded to enter the building.

"Is there a reason why you are holding my hand?"

Once they got off the car, he immediately took Rumi's hand in his. This sudden physical contact was an instant reminder of Adam's newfound boldness.

And she wasn't hating it.

" I just feel like it. Want me to let go?"

As he was about to let go of her hand Rumi increased her grip strength and looked at him accusingly.

"Don't."

That look sent a shiver down his spine. Not from fear, but from pure excitement.

" Good then."

Like that, the two finally entered the building.

...

Once inside the first thing that came to view, apart from the overly opulent interior, was a security stop a few feet from the entrance. There, two individuals in body suits stood on either side of a typical metal detection machine.

Even if fire weapons were not as lethal in this world, they still were deadly to most hunters. Only the strongest awakeners were immune to bullets, while those at the peak wouldn't even flinch at nuclear weapons.

As they came closer to the metallic machine to carry out the security procedures one of the guards suddenly called out to one of them.

"R-Rumi?"

The rabbit hunter, who was too absorbed in feeling Adam's warmth through his hand, turned to see who called her name.

As soon as she saw this person, a bright smile found its place on her face.

"Hey, Ochako~. Didn't expect to see you here."

Adam on the other hand slightly raised his eyebrows.

'Eh? Ochako Uraraka? I don't remember having met her before.'

Ochako shook her head eagerly with a slight blush.

" Neither did I! I'm doing my internship now."

"Oh, that explains the suit. So, you are going to work for the association instead of a regular guild?"

The auburn-haired girl giggled lightly as she scratches the back of her head.

"Hehe~ The pay is better than in most guilds you know?"

"As greedy as ever, I see."

As the two bantered in a friendly manner another person jumped into the conversation, but they didn't seem to be having a good time.

"Oy, stop the chitchat already, we are working."

They all turned their attention to the other guard at Ochako's right-hand side, a sandy blonde spiked-haired young man that was staring daggers at Adam.

' So, this little shit also exists in this world...'

"Don't be rude Katsuki! You have to be respectful when in front of our seniors."

{A/N: I will only refer to Bakugo as Katsuki when some people call out to him. In this world, people just call each other on first name bases unless in a more professional environment, like when referring to a GuildMaster or something}

Bakugo simply shrugged and looked away from Adam, taking a glance at Mirko. A detail that was not missed by Adam himself.

'Well, this is unexpected.'

Before things turned more awkward Adam decide to intervene.

"I-"

But a certain girl had other plans in mind.

" By the way. Is that your b-boyfriend!?"

Adam sighed tiredly, he just wanted to get this over with.

On the other hand, Bakugo's eyes found their place on the duo again.

Only now did he realize they were holding hands!

'Wait! I thought they were only coworkers!'

Bakugo froze in place.

Ochako, Rumi, and Bakugo were in the same academy for hunters. A three-year course that aspiring hunters take after finishing high school.

There, Ochako and Bakugo met Rumi when the former two entered their first year and Rumi was on her second.

Every third-year student is assigned an instructor that would teach them for a few months about hunter work. Since Rumi had started her internship around the same time they became third years, she was asked to teach these two despite having graduated already.

As a result of these interactions, poor Bakugo developed a huge one-sided crush on the hot-headed rabbit girl.

"Well-"

Rumi was about to respond vaguely to Ochaco's question in an attempt to embarrass Adam, but the latter was faster than her.

"Future husband if you may."

"""!"""

All the eyes in the room were on him, and everyone sported a different reaction.

Bakugo looked as if he had just eaten dogshit.

Ochako blushed intensely while covering her mouth with both of her hands.

And Rumi...

Well, she looked like a lioness about to pounce on her prey.

' Yep, that was the right response.'

As he gave himself some mental back pats Bakugo was the first one to come out of his reverie.

"Tch, can't you stop talking already?! We don't have all day."

Ochaco flinched at Bakugo's yell and quickly realized her blunder.

" Oh, sorry about that! It has been a while since I've last seen Rumi, so I got a bit excited."

" It's alright, Ochaco. I'm sure Rumi is as happy to see you as you are."

Adam found it necessary to respond since Rumi was too busy to do so right now.

Ochaco looked at Rumi and could only smile wryly.

The rabbit was still looking at Adam intently. If they had an animal-related power, they would easily notice that Rumi was exploding with pheromones.

Finally, Adam cut to the chase.

" I would like to apply for the Hunter Examination. That is the main reason for our visit."

Gaining a more professional attitude, Ochaco nodded and proceeded to speak of the process.

" Once you come through the security checkpoint, we can take you to the testing grounds. Once there we will assign someone to test-"

Before she could finish her explanation, a loud voice cut her up.

"I will do it, there's no need to wait for someone else."

Bakugo looked professional and serious on the exterior but inside he was laughing maniacally.

'Marriage Rumi? Right. Let's see what she says after I'm done with you.'

Without much denying, Ochaco contacted their supervisor and informed them of Bakugo's proposal.

Not seeing any problem with it they gave them the green light and the group moved into the elevator at the back of the entrance hall after the security check was done. Soon after a new duo of guards took Ochaco and Bakugo's place.

They were being trained to be hunters for the Hunter Association, so testing the capabilities of hunter candidates was in their curriculum in the first place.

Instead of going to the upper floor, the elevator started to descend. After a few seconds of waiting, they finally reached their destination, a hall that was full of metallic doors at either side with a counter desk at the end.

" At that counter, you will be given your license if you pass the test. An F-Rank card will be given regardless of your powers or test results. Once you enter a guild, they can re-evaluate you in the presence of an association member. In which case your rank may increase or not. If you decide to become an independent hunter though, that will require you to get a permit, which you can collect after passing the test as well. Whenever you feel like you made considerable progress, you can reach out to the Association and a revaluation based on your hunting history can be done. "

Adam nodded in understanding. It looked like the association considered experience more important than talent when it came down to ranks.

Naturally, those who achieved better results in the guild and completed their missions efficiently would eventually raise in Rank faster than their folks. Which didn't necessarily make them stronger, just more efficient.

" Are these rooms the testing grounds?"

Ochako smiled cutely and gave Adam a thumbs up.

"Yes! You catch up quickly Adam."

' It's written on the wall though.'

Adam thanked her politely for the 'compliment' before they proceeded to enter one of the rooms.

Once inside, the group was met by a simple interior with some mats and a sort of ring-like formation that was meant for sparring.

Some weapons could be seen at the side as well, varying from swords to even rifles.

" Let's get to it, hunter candidate."

Bakugo said with a hint of disdain, stopping Adam and the group from inspecting the spacious testing room any further.

"Oh! Sure Kinkuki, the sooner we are done with this the better."

Adam ''smiled politely'' at Bakugo, who had a not-so-friendly look on his face after the former called him out by the wrong name.

Ochaco at the sidelines fought the urge to laugh while Rumi smirked at the blonde mockingly.

That seemed to have been the drop that filled the glass for the intern.

"That's not my name you fucker!"

" Right, my bad Tentuki. No wait, Fuyuki?"

"YOU!"

"Was it You your name? Mmh~ I would have bet it ended with uki something-"

"It's Katsuki, you bastard!"

"Oh my, that's quite offensive you know. Don't worry though, I won't be reporting you for verbal harassment to the association, after all, I have taken a liking to you ehm... Kentucky?

" It's Katsuki!!!"

"Meh, get over it."

The female duo couldn't hold it anymore and they both started laughing hysterically. It took them about two minutes to come back to their senses.

Bakugo didn't say anything and directly walked to the sparring ring. In his mind though, he was cursing every single generation of Adam's bloodline.

Adam smirked at Bakugo's attitude and let go of Rumi's hand, who complied with a bit more hesitation to let go.

Once the two combatants were on each side of the ring, they both nodded their heads, and Ochaco, who acted as the referee, said some final words.

" You may start when I say "GO!". The spar is meant to test your abilities, Adam, not to cause you any harm, so Katsuki will limit himself in the use of his powers. Since he's been an awakener for way longer than you this is only common sense. You on the other hand should try to best him in any way you can, don't worry about hurting him, he is a tough guy."

Adam nodded in sign of understanding and looked at Bakugo who seemed to be exhaling flaming vapour from his nostrils.

Dude looked pissed.

'Limit himself? This fucker wants to kill me.'

Adam snorted inwardly at Ochaco's naiveness.

" You won't use any weapon?"

Adam shook his head at the short-haired hunter's question; words were unnecessary at this point.

Rumi at the side nodded in approval at seeing this. She believed that one's body was the strongest weapon one could ever wield, and so did her family. It appeared that Adam shared more similarities to the Usagiyamas than even he knew.

" Alright then!"

Ochako raised her hands in the air and started to play the part of a referee.

Adam: ' Ok, let's try that.'

Adam crossed his fingers in his mind, what he was about to do was only a theory, but if it worked, he would become a monster the likes of which this world had never seen.

"Fufufu~..."

Ochako held her hands above her head as she laughed excitedly.

Adam: ' Man, I wish I knew some martial arts~.'

"Set!"

She pressed her hands into a fist, readying herself to give the final signal for the spar to start.

Adam: 'If only I had a handsome/cute system that would make me a master in martial arts~'

"Ready!"

Pointing her toes to go higher, she raised her hands even more.

Adam: '...'

"Reeeadyyy!"

Her fists opened, and her ten fingers spread widely.

Adam: 'Well, that didn't work out.'

"Go!"

Finally, she brought her hands down. Indicating the start of the bout in an overly exaggerated way.

Adam: 'In other words...'

*BOOOOOM!*

'I'm fucked.'
