reincarnated as a powerful dragon

Chapter 15: A Year of Anticipation

My father's words echoed in my mind: "The Starlight Gathering will be your first time going there." I felt a thrill of excitement, but also a sense of patience. The Gathering wouldn't take place for another year, and I had a lot to learn and prepare for before then.

As I went about my daily routine, I couldn't help but think about the Gathering. What would it be like? Who would I meet? And what would I learn?

But for now, I had to focus on my training and development. My parents were teaching me new skills, from advanced flying maneuvers to complex social etiquette. I was determined to master them all, and make my family proud.

Little did they know, I had a secret that would change everything. A secret that I would keep hidden for now, but would soon become impossible to conceal...

As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, I found myself growing stronger and more confident. My scales shone like polished silver, and my wings beat powerful and sure.

I was learning so much from my parents, and I was eager to put my new skills to the test. But I was also aware that I was different from my siblings, that I had a secret that set me apart.

As I soared through the skies, feeling the wind rushing past me, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held. Would I be able to keep my secret hidden, or would it eventually be revealed?

And what would happen when it was? Would my parents be proud of me, or would they be shocked and disappointed?

I didn't have the answers to these questions, but I knew one thing for sure: I was ready for whatever lay ahead. Bring it on, I thought, feeling a fierce determination burning within me...

As the months passed, I continued to grow and learn, my secret safe for the time being. My parents were proud of my progress, and my siblings were always eager to play and train with me.

One day, as we were out flying, my mother pointed out a group of dragons in the distance. "Look, Tharros," she said. "Those are some of the dragons who will be attending the Starlight Gathering next year. Maybe you'll even make some new friends."

I watched the dragons with interest, wondering what it would be like to meet them in person. But my mind was also preoccupied with my own thoughts and feelings. I was getting older, and my body was starting to undergo changes. Changes that would soon make my secret impossible to hide...

I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the present moment. I was still a young dragon, and I had a whole year before the Starlight Gathering. I was determined to enjoy every moment of it, and to make the most of this special time with my family...

As the days went by, I found myself growing more and more restless. My silver scales were shifting, my wings were strengthening, and my instincts were becoming more primal.

I tried to ignore it, to focus on my training and my time with my family. But it was getting harder and harder to pretend that everything was normal.

One day, as I was out flying with my siblings - Lyriath, with his navy blue scales, Vyraxys, with his dark bronze, Nyxoria, with her amethyst, Lyrixa, with her rose gold, and Kaidorix, with his forest green - I felt a sudden surge of pain and discomfort. I faltered in mid-air, my wings beating wildly as I struggled to stay aloft.

My siblings rushed to my side, concern etched on their faces. "What's wrong?" Lyriath asked.

I didn't know how to answer. I didn't know what was happening to me, or why my body was changing in such strange and unsettling ways.

All I knew was that I needed to get away, to find some place where I could be alone and try to make sense of what was happening to me.

With a sudden burst of speed, I shot away from my siblings, leaving them to stare after me in confusion. I didn't know where I was going, or what I would find when I got there.

All I knew was that I had to get away, and fast...

I flew as fast and as far as I could, my silver scales glinting in the sunlight. I didn't know where I was going, I just knew I had to get away.

As I flew, I felt a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I was scared, confused, and overwhelmed. I didn't know what was happening to me, or why I was feeling this way.

After what felt like hours, I finally began to tire. I spotted a small cave in the distance and flew towards it, grateful for a place to rest.

I landed on the soft, sandy floor of the cave and collapsed, my wings folded against my back. I lay there for a moment, catching my breath and trying to calm my racing thoughts.

As I lay there, I felt a strange sensation in my belly. It was a gentle stirring, like something was moving inside me. I felt a surge of fear and uncertainty, and I knew that I couldn't ignore my secret any longer.

I took a deep breath and focused on the sensation, trying to understand what was happening. And as I did, I felt a strange sense of clarity wash over me.

I knew that I had to face my secret head-on, and that I couldn't keep it hidden forever. But I was scared, and I didn't know where to start...

As I lay there, I could feel the weight of my secret bearing down on me. I knew I had to find a way to deal with it, but I didn't know where to start.

Just as I was starting to feel overwhelmed, I heard a faint rustling sound coming from the back of the cave. I turned to see a wise old dragon, her scales a deep, shimmering gold, emerging from the shadows.

She approached me slowly, her eyes filled with kindness and understanding. "You are troubled, young one," she said, her voice low and soothing. "I can see it in your eyes. What is it that weighs so heavily on your heart?"

I hesitated, unsure of whether to trust this stranger. But there was something about her that put me at ease, and I found myself opening up to her.

"I'm just feeling a bit lost, I suppose," I said, trying to downplay my emotions. "I'm not really sure what's going on with me, or what the future holds." The old dragon nodded sympathetically, her eyes never leaving mine. "I think I can help you with that, young one," she said. "But first, you need to rest and calm your mind. You're safe here, and I'll make sure nothing harms you. Just sleep, and we'll talk more in the morning." I nodded, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over me. I lay down, and the old dragon began to sing a soft, soothing melody. Her voice was like a warm breeze on a summer day, and I felt my eyelids growing heavy. As I drifted off to sleep, I felt a sense of peace wash over me, and I knew that I was in good hands.
