Chapter 30
Argul woke up still a bit groggy from sleep and yawned. Someone was massaging her belly and going by the displayed skill it was Aina. She cracked an eye open just to be sure and closed it again upon seeing the slime.
The massage felt heavenly and Argul began to purr loudly. She wasn’t yet accustomed to purring when she felt good and it always made her painfully aware of how her body, somewhere between her mouth and nose, made that sound.
She petted Aina in turn and just laid there for a few minutes. Then she looked around and noticed Mia wasn’t inside the tent. Argul spotted the girl's pajamas and guessed she was already up and about.
Argul sighed, she would have to get up too. She looked around a bit and decided to wear something a bit nicer today. It might help ease some of the tension of the people.
Argul still only had the black dress as something nicer so she had to wear that. Which also meant that she would have to wear a bra and some of the panties she had taken with her. Until now she had not touched that part of her clothing and always stuck to boy shorts and the breast band. She was very insecure about trying on women's clothing.
Argul put Aina off of her belly and crawled over to what she now called her sport bag. She should really stop claiming Arthur’s stuff, though she wouldn’t give that back. Argul opened the bag and took out the neatly folded dress and some black underwear. She had no idea what colors you should put together but didn’t mind as long as others wouldn’t see her underwear.
The panties were a bit weird together with her large member, but after some shuffling around she managed to put her penis inside without it being too noticeable from outside. She was a bit embarrassed about the situation, but she had to do it one day anyway so now was as good as a day as it would get.
Argul gingerly took the black bra and tried to put it on. To her desperation she didn’t manage to close the clip on her back. She had to take a few deep breaths before she calmed down and then her voice meekly sounded out. “Mia, are you there?”
The answer came from somewhere to the side of the tent. “Yes auntie.”
Argul could hear her running to the tent entrance where she put her head through and looked at Argul. “Do you need me for something?”
Argul looked away from Mia and a bit downwards. “I- I might need your help.”
She gestured at her problem and Mia seemed to understand. The girl crawled into the tent and then closed the clip of Argul’s bra. She then looked at Argul with a questioning gaze. “Why don’t you just ask?”
Argul’s hands played with her fox tail to hide her nervousness. She was unsuccessful. “It’s just embarrassing.”
That answer seemed to be enough for Mia who started to leave the tent again. “You should hurry a bit auntie. The others said we don’t have that much time before we have to go again.”
Argul nodded and put on the black dress. It was short sleeved and exposed her neckline in a V-form above her chest and a bit further down on her back. The dress was fitted close to her hip and then flowed loosely down to her knees. She had had to cut an opening for her tail again and it was a bit difficult getting it through there, but it was a lot more comfortable with her tail outside.
In Argul’s opinion the dress still emphasized her body too much, but it was the only dress she had found to her liking.
Argul pointedly ignored the curse of beauty that her clothing added and continued to get ready.
Before she went out she brushed her hair and then last but not least put on some white socks and a pair of black shoes.
Once outside Argul was greeted by Alyra’s whistling. “Damn you sure look nice!”
Argul blushed but still noticed her daughter's playful smirk. That little fox was enjoying her embarrassment way too much!
She went over to Mia, who had prepared her some toast with chocolate creme and was staring starry eyed at Argul. “You are super pretty!”
Argul blushed a bit deeper, but couldn’t help herself but smile when Mia ran over to her for a hug. The girl left behind a few chocolate stains on Argul’s dress and teared up when she noticed. “ I’m so sorry auntie!”
Argul just smiled, casted a cleanse at herself and patted Mia. “I have no idea what you mean.”
Mia looked at Argul in admiration and was about to hug her again, but Argul stopped her. “That doesn’t mean you can dirty my clothes as much as you like or I am going to make you clean them.”
Mia looked away embarrassed and Argul patted her again.
They had a nice breakfast after that and packed up their stuff. Once that was done Argul hugged Alyra to say good bye for a while. She and Arthur had been put on the night shift so they wouldn’t see each other for some time as Argul would be attending to families with Mia from morning to the late afternoon.
Argul now also had to carry Mia’s stuff around so her sport bag was more than full and Aina had to sit on top of it. Argul took Mia by her hand and they went to their part of the group. There a soldier told them of the plan.
They would follow him to the border of the mana zone. A bit further from there the people that they needed to help integrate would wait and constantly travel at a slow pace away from the zone.
It looked like a few members of the military had already been integrated yesterday and learned sense mana. One of them would always stay at the border to make sure that they knew where it ended.
After the soldier finished they followed him for about four hours until they reached the one at a border. It was really sunny the whole time and as there were no trees around Argul had to tweak her ‘break light’ a bit to protect herself and Mia from sunburn. The others of the group would have to help themselves and honestly weren’t quite as pale as Argul.
Wait, she hadn’t been that pale before. It still didn’t look like she was ill or anything and more like she hadn’t been in the sun a lot for a while. She had had a normal skin tone for a European when she came out of the portal, so despite her being in the sun a lot she became paler. It might be like with her eyes, but Argul would have to watch out for any more changes to be sure.
The two soldiers conversed for a second and then the one that had led the group came over to her and Mia. “You are the one that is going to work with the families right?”
Argul nodded and the guy's gaze became apologetic, despite him having trouble looking at her face. “I’m going to be honest with you. I do not envy you for your job. As far as I know the ones with children have been causing the most trouble.”
Argul shrugged. “We will manage.”
Then she walked towards the new people, dragging Mia a bit behind her and left the dude behind. Mia hurried next to her and looked at Argul quizzically. “Wasn’t it rude to just leave him like that.”
Argul huffed a bit in annoyance. “He was constantly staring at my breast, so I don’t care.”
Mia nodded happily. “So it was rude.” Children are just lovely.
They left the mana zone and walked towards the people they had to integrate today. There was a distance of about half a kilometer between them so it took them about 10 minutes.
Once they got near the group of families and kids she could see what the soldier meant. The parents were watching over their kids like hawks. At least they were already standing in an order, so Argul wouldn’t have to do that neck breaking job.
Argul already had most of the attention, but she still clapped her hands and raised her voice just to make sure. “Alright, I am the one you are under the care of today. I will answer each of your questions before your turn as long as I am able to. If it helps you can look at me like a doctor.” Argul had prepared herself to say that for most of the time of the walk here.
Argul smiled at them. “Please do not worry, everything is going to be alright. The first family can come to me now.”
She walked a bit away with Mia and a family of three followed her. Once she left the hearing range of the others she stopped and turned around.
Argul tried to smile her most friendly smile and clasped her hands together while she looked at the family. “If you have any questions, please ask them now.”
As if some flood gate had opened the mother started blabbering and immediately lost Argul. Argul sighed and looked at the man who had a pained expression on his face. He had her pity, not that it helped.
Argul held up a hand and stopped the woman from speaking. “That was entirely too much, please stop and ask your questions one at a time.”
Before the mother could speak again the father translated what she had been blabbering. “We have mainly four concerns. What is going to happen exactly? Is it safe? Is it going to hurt?”
He looked at her tail and ears pointedly, a smart man. “What are the side effects?”
While it wasn’t one question at a time it was good enough for Argul. She told them about the conflict of mana and the universe. That the process should be safe as long as she didn’t mess up and that it might hurt, a lot actually.
Telling them that the safety depended on her skills might not have been smart, but the same was true for doctors and it was the truth so she didn’t care.
Argul moved her tail in front of her and held it in her hands. “As for side effects, your appearance might change a bit. I can’t tell you what it is going to be for you as the change seems to be settlement and organization intern.”
She pointed at the soldier in the distance. “The soldiers for example often grow two tentacles like appendages from their necks.”
Then she looked at them seriously. “If you get integrated into mana without help a lot worse might happen and you can’t escape it. The spread of the zone is becoming faster now and then so all who run away from it are fools.” She would not describe these consequences in front of two children.
She smiled again. “So, who is going to be the first?” She didn’t want to give them more time to ask anything and be done with it.
The woman looked a bit peeved at not being allowed to voice her concerns. “Can we all do it together?”
Argul shook her head. “I have to do it one at a time, though I can understand your concerns. As a compromise I would suggest doing one of the adults first and then your son or both parents first and your son last. That way one of you can always watch over him.”
The woman was clearly unhappy, but the man nodded and volunteered to be first. Thus Argul had her first patient.
