Chapter 140
The power of the lightning magic, compressed twice, is not something that even a giant could ignore.
At that moment, the giant’s attention was briefly diverted to Melorna.
I captured the lightning, which was about to burst forth, in Last Ape and shot it straight at the center of the giant’s chest.
Suddenly, a bright light erupted, causing the giant to raise one hand to shield its eyes.
Because of that, the lightning struck head-on unimpeded since its upper body was completely defenseless.
Szzzzt!
“Ugh!”
Blue blood flowed from the giant’s mouth.
“Magic isn’t something only you can use!”
The giant shouted loudly, slammed one hand on the ground, and hit the wound with a dark light it grasped.
It happened in an instant, but I clearly saw the lightning pierce through the giant’s chest and cause a wound.
A scar remained, but what I thought was a fatal wound had healed.
“No….”
“Why are you so surprised?”
Until now, I had never seen other giants heal like that even when their arms were severed.
“My specialty is healing.”
The giant’s basic combat abilities far exceeded ours.
If it could heal as well, it was like placing wings on a tiger’s back.
I would never be able to kill it with mere minor wounds.
To kill this beast, I must unleash everything at maximum power in one blow!
I had made my decision, but I couldn’t find an answer to whether I had such an attack.
I thought about summoning Last Ape’s true form, but that would be too wasteful to use against just this giant.
Once summoned, I wouldn’t be able to use it for a month.
I needed to decide very carefully.
It wasn’t the worst-case scenario yet; Melorna had her ice block, and if I could hold on a little longer, support would arrive with more personnel.
I transformed Last Ape into a spear and plunged it into the ground.
“Melorna, behind me!”
“Yes!”
Melorna quickly huddled behind me.
“Can you buy me some time?”
“I’ll try.”
The ice blocks began to swirl around the giant.
The noise was so loud that it felt like the sound of a typhoon.
While Melorna bought time, I slowly began to compress the lightning.
Even if I compressed it quickly, it had useful power, but taking the time could yield an even greater force.
Lightning energy gathered abundantly from underground, and I designated the target beneath the giant’s feet.
“New Cleaning!”
A spell developed by Dino.
I replaced it with lightning instead of flame.
Sizzle! Flash!
As the spot beneath the giant glimmered, Melorna and I flew at least several dozen meters.
I caught Melorna in mid-air and soared skyward.
“Wow…”
Melorna gasped in awe.
Looking down, the giant, burned black, stood there with its mouth agape.
“Is it dead?”
“No.”
I could see the giant’s fingers twitching and moving.
Rather than a monstrous recovery, it was definitely the healing magic I saw earlier.
Of course, since it was a large wound, it was healing slowly from the tips of its fingers.
Thud.
One of the giant’s arms fell away from its torso.
“Huh?”
Slowly, the giant’s body began to collapse and scattered into dust.
“What did you just do?”
When I turned around, Jema had hurriedly flown over.
“I just used magic.”
“What kind of magic is this….”
I looked around in astonishment.
The hundreds of meters in front of the eastern gate of Harfen had turned into desolate land.
I could see the nearly annihilated undead army.
The surviving undead were those that had been resurrected from those corpses.
“Catch that thing!”
Ahom, raising his sword among the undead, gave orders.
“How dare you, take away my soldiers!”
Furious, Ahom couldn’t approach beyond a certain distance.
There was a sword that Epiro had thrown and stuck in that boundary.
Having experienced significant pain around the divine sword, Ahom stayed far away and just yelled.
Ahom raised his own sword high.
Light gathered, and a pure white mass formed above Ahom’s head.
“Come, become one with me, Hamiel!”
The white mass slowly descended from the air, enveloping Ahom’s body.
Flash!
With a burst of intense light, a white giant appeared where Ahom had stood.
A pair of large wings flapped vigorously, and the wind rushed towards Jema and me.
“Ugh!”
“It looks different from last time.”
It was still huge, but its appearance was similar to Ahom’s.
When its blood-red eyes glimmered, the giant Ahom, wielding a massive sword, began to stride forward.
It crossed the boundary of Epiro’s divine sword, which he had been hesitant to approach.
Unlike the last time when it suffered, it now seemed unaffected.
Getting closer, Ahom could take down the recently dispatched giant with ease.
It felt as if an enormous building was moving.
“Get up, follow me!”
Ahom struck the ground with his sword.
Boom! Boom!
From the desolate ground, hundreds of undead crawled out.
“Those guys only rely on their size and numbers to rush in.”
Jema said coldly, adjusting his grip on his sword.
Fwoosh!
Blazing flames enveloped Jema’s sword, and with a single swing, the flames extended straight outward.
“This is the true power of my swordsmanship.”
Jema executed a precise series of strikes from the first to the fifteenth without hesitation.
Every time a form of the sword came to an end, the flames created a line that eventually formed one image.
“A flower?”
From above, the sight looked like a flower drawn in flames painted on the ground.
“Flaming petals.”
Jema softly murmured as he lightly plunged his sword into the ground.
Boom boom boom!
Explosions erupted around, engulfing the undead in flames.
“We are the undying legion of the end!”
Ahom quickly tried to overturn the ground with his sword to block Jema’s technique.
However, because of the extensive range, even for the giant Ahom, it was difficult to prevent the undead from being swept away by the explosions.
A fire ignited on one of the giant Ahom’s legs.
“That’s lukewarm.”
Using his massive hand, he slapped away the fire on his leg.
“It seems fighting in this form is uncomfortable.”
As Ahom wrapped his massive body with the wings on his back, he turned into a white mass.
The white mass became roughly human-sized and slowly unfurled its wings.
From within, emitting a white light, Ahom appeared with a chilling smile.
“Divine sword.”
When Ahom whispered, he drew a shining sword from thin air.
The mysterious sacred sword I had seen last time!
The sacred sword approached us slowly, held by Ahom.
Clang!
When Ahom’s and Jema’s swords collided, a severe crack formed in Jema’s sword.
“Ah!”
If they clashed one or two more times, Jema’s sword wouldn’t withstand.
I hurriedly threw the dagger strapped to my waist toward Jema.
As soon as Jema caught the dagger I threw, the sword he had been using shattered.
Clang!
“Before the divine sword, all weapons shall crumble!”
“That sword feels really unpleasant.”
“That’s because it’s a sword to destroy demons.”
Clang!
Jema pushed Ahom’s sword away and quickly created distance.
“Come forth.”
“Huh?”
“I will take care of him.”
Epiro slowly walked behind Jema, looking somewhat different than usual.
Clearly, Epiro was supposed to be blind and unable to see.
Yet those empty eyes were fixed precisely on Jema.
“Who are you?”
“I’ve explained it to this child, so you’ll hear about it later.”
Epiro stretched out his hand and summoned the divine sword embedded in the ground.
“Who are you?”
“That sacred sword can no longer do the right thing.”
“Answer! I asked who you are!”
“Do you know who you are?”
“Yes, I do. I am Ahom, faithful subordinate of Lord Karim.”
“Your role has long since ended.”
After a moment of bewildering exchange, the two swords clashed.
Boom!
Ahom’s mighty downward strike was effortlessly blocked by Epiro.
“I shall withdraw the blessing of the divine sword.”
“Let go of this!”
“You just need to drop the sword.”
Ahom tried to detach the divine sword from the divine sword, but it stuck like a magnet.
The divine sword began to glow brightly, and Ahom’s sacred sword shattered into powder.
“Damn it! Just who the hell are you?!”
“A fallen hero should not roam the world.”
With a single swing of the divine sword, cracks formed in Ahom’s body.
“Ugh! Aaaaah!”
Ahom screamed in torment.
“I am a servant of the end.”
“No.”
“I am a servant of Lord Karim.”
“No.”
Clang!
As Hamiel engulfing Ahom shattered, it was absorbed into the divine sword.
“Oh… light!”
“Correct.”
“I was light, and salvation.”
Half-mad, Ahom knelt to the ground.
“Hero Ahom, will you surrender to Goddess Diana?”
“Your role has long since ended. Eternal rest.”
Epiro lightly tapped Ahom’s shoulders with the divine sword, then slowly pushed the sword into his heart.
“I shall go.”
Light burst forth from Ahom’s entire body, and he vanished without a trace.
In the spot where Ahom had disappeared, the divine sword was plunged in its place.
Thud.
As the divine sword slowly faded, Epiro collapsed, losing consciousness.
Maran carried the fallen Epiro and headed towards the castle wall.
Below the castle wall, there was a tent set up by the soldiers.
It was a place designated to treat or care for the wounded, but it had become nearly useless in reality.
If the undead were to surge down to the base of the castle wall, it was literally useless.
At this moment, they weren’t making a frontal assault.
The gate opened, and soldiers began to pour out.
The undead, having lost their commander, proved no match for the well-trained soldiers.
Thus, the undead legion began to be cleared away.
“This place can now be entrusted to the soldiers, so let’s head back.”
“Right. How long are you going to stay in my arms?”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
Feeling so light that I didn’t even notice, Jema let go of Melorna.
“By the way, this is quite a good sword, isn’t it?”
“Should I give it to you if you need it? Your original sword got broken, after all.”
Jema seemed to be thinking deeply as he stared at my dagger.
“No, it seems fine. There will be plenty of swords over there.”
Jema pointed toward Harfen.
There was a war going on, and supplies had come flooding into Harfen.
Surely, there would be at least one usable sword among them.
