rebuilding in walking dead

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Daryl the Brave

  15 minutes later.

When Daryl, covered in dark red flesh and blood, staggered into the crowd of zombies under the gaze of everyone, Kevera, who was beside Leon, blinked thoughtfully.

"It turns out that these monsters are not much different from ordinary beasts. Can we confuse them just by using smell and movements?"

After coming out of the hospital, the girl did not show any extreme reaction when faced with the tragic scene of corpses and blood outside. Except for her face becoming paler, she seemed to have easily accepted this reality.

Leon looked into the girl's sky-blue eyes, nodded, and said:

"At present, apart from the fact that zombies have an advantage in numbers and their brains must be destroyed to kill them, there is really not much difference between them and ordinary wild beasts."

"But don't underestimate the lethality of zombies. If you are bitten or scratched by them for a small wound, you will die in a few hours and become one of their kind."

"There is currently no cure for this."

Kevila nodded in realization and said:

"No wonder you are all wearing that clumsy and heavy leather armor now."

  Leon shrugged and continued:

"The world is in chaos now. Zombies are only part of the danger. Without the constraints of the law, some humans have become more dangerous than wild beasts."

"Add to that the difficulties in food, medical care, accommodation and so on, and you can probably imagine how difficult it is for human beings to survive."

Kevera was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly thought of something and said:

"By the way, Mr. Custer, the whole world is experiencing a water and power outage. Have you ever thought about one thing?"

Leon had a vague idea, but still had no specific clue, so he asked:

  "whats the matter?"

The girl looked a little solemn, hesitated for a second or two, and then said:

"I have looked up information before. There are more than 100 nuclear power plants in our country and about 400 in the world. If the power outage at a nuclear power plant exceeds the limit, the reactor will overheat due to loss of cooling, leading to leakage accidents or even explosions."

"Given the current situation, do you think those nuclear power plants are still operating normally?"

Leon was shocked when he heard this. He had never considered such a thing as a nuclear power plant accident, and it was never mentioned in the plot of "The Walking Dead". But considering the knowledge range of the brainless screenwriters, such a thing was obviously forgotten by them.

He was silent for a few seconds, then spoke with some difficulty:

"What would happen if all the nuclear power plants were left unattended?"

Kevila recalled for a few seconds, shook his head, and said:

"I can't really explain it. Most nuclear power plants now have automatic shutdown devices installed, but they have not been tested in actual combat. No one has ever considered that humans would lose more than 95% of their population in just one month. No one knows exactly what will happen."

"But I estimate that some of these nuclear power plants will really stop operating, some will have nuclear leaks, and some will explode. Maybe in the near future, there will be many more radiation zones in our world, and the environment we live in will be filled with a lot of radiation."

As he spoke, Kevila looked at Leon with a slightly mocking smile and said:

"I'm not an expert in this area. I just learned a little bit by chance. But no matter what, as long as we are not killed immediately by the explosion, we can still survive in the radiation for a few decades."

"But there is nothing we can do about it. Do you have the ability to shut down all the nuclear power plants in the world?"

"Perhaps in the future humans will be able to evolve bodies that adapt to radiation?"

Indeed, this was not something Leon could change right now. He gathered his thoughts and turned his gaze to Daryl who was moving among the zombies.

After returning to the base, he will have a good chat with those doctoral professors with the highest IQ and the most knowledgeable knowledge.

Daryl, this silent tough guy moved very quickly and seemed to have no fear when facing zombies. He had passed through two waves of zombies in succession and came to the door of the supermarket. A zombie was standing upright there, blocking his way.

After only a pause of one or two seconds, Daryl leaned over and rushed behind the zombie, wrapped his left hand tightly around the zombie's neck, and stabbed the dagger in his right hand directly into his temple.

He hid his body behind the zombie and dragged it into the supermarket quickly without attracting the attention of other zombies.

Leon could no longer see the following scenes. He could only vaguely see a blurry figure appearing and disappearing in the supermarket. Several zombies standing by the window were killed and then knocked down.

After about six or seven minutes, loud music suddenly sounded in the small supermarket. It was Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana".

  Daryl, it worked.

As the sound of the music spread, the attention of the zombies on the entire street was attracted. They turned their stiff bodies and slowly began to gather towards the supermarket.

  Leon and others waited quietly.

After the group of zombies was more than 50 meters away from the gun store, he waved to the truck behind him, started the engine, and the car glided silently to the door of the gun store.

After getting off the car, Leon observed for a moment and decisively took out the silenced pistol from his waist. He fired two shots at the lock of the gun store door. The impact sound was a bit loud and seemed to attract the attention of the zombies at the end of the team.

He pressed his body against the door and pushed hard.

  Snap!

With the sound of some material breaking, the door of the gun shop opened.

Leon waved to the remaining two members of Daryl's team and said softly:

"You guys go move all the guns and bullets inside onto the truck."

"Hurry up, I'll protect your safety outside."

After saying that, he pulled out his long-bladed machete from behind, held it in his hand, and waited quietly for the zombies to surround him.

Everyone is racing against time. The sooner they move the supplies in the gun store, the sooner they can escape from the dangerous area.

As time went on, about 10 zombies noticed their movements and began to leave the team one after another, rushing towards Leon who was in the front.

Compared with the last time when he dealt with 30 zombies alone, Leon is stronger and more confident this time. The long-bladed machete in his hand is very suitable for chopping, and the black bear armor on his body can also protect against the attacks of the zombies well.

Instead of choosing a roundabout way, he charged directly into the zombie swarm. Facing a zombie in the front, Leon swung the long knife in his hand upwards suddenly, and the blade went straight into the zombie's chin, splitting his brain in two with unstoppable force.

Leon kicked the headless zombie, causing him to fall backwards. He used the momentum to twist his body and the blade in his hand gained power instantly due to the rotation, turning it into an upward arc that chopped off the skulls of two zombies.

He ignored the two zombies that fell down, and continued to advance. He came in front of a zombie and swung his knife diagonally. The blade cut into the zombie's neck like cutting into a piece of rotten wood. After a slight pause, he directly chopped off his head.

After a few moves, the four zombies closest to him were all killed. Leon was slightly panting. He quickly adjusted his breathing and stood with the knife. Only about 20 seconds later, another group of zombies entered his combat range.

Two minutes later, the ten zombies attracted by Leon and his men all lay under him, their heads and bodies separated, becoming real corpses.

Shaking off the blood and flesh residue on the blade, Leon's forehead was slightly sweaty. This head-on charge was so exhilarating that he felt as if the blood in his body was beginning to boil.

He likes the feeling of fighting hard, which is much more refreshing than sitting in the office and scheming with those bad people.

Leon felt that he was born for this kind of life, drinking and eating meat with big mouthfuls, and he would risk his life for wealth and glory.
