REBORN - MHA: Vongola X

Chapter 67: 1st Match A v D

In the monitoring room, the students were speculating who they believed would win and how the anticipation was figuratively killing them.

Calvin and Dante stood at the back also speculating.

Calvin asked. "Which team do you think will win?"

"I'm not sure, the villain team has the clear advantage in both combat power and their starting point. But the quirk Midoriya showed during the quirk assessment test suggests he might have the destructive power necessary to overcome the two." Dante responded with uncertainty.

Momo Yoayorozu who happened to be nearby heard their conversation and joined in, expressing her opinion. "While that might be true, you seem to be forgetting Midoriya injured himself after using his quirk. So, it's reasonable to believe that he can only use it a limited amount of times at the risk of injury. Unless he has since gained control of his quirk."

Dante looked and smirked lightly at her. "Eavesdropping again, are we?"

Momo was frozen speechless, flustered unable to think of a rebuttal. Dante chuckled softly at her reaction. "I'm just kidding." He returned to the topic. "You're right, though. Their best bet is for Midoriya to somehow draw those two in for a battle while Uraraka sneaks her way to the bomb, but given Yuuga Aoyama's long-range capabilities it will be a difficult task."

Calvin hummed. "Yeah, but can Yuuga Aoyama really be relied on?"

"Maybe, maybe not."

"You guys are underestimating Tokoyami too much. He may not seem like it but his quirk, [Dark Shadow] is totally awesome." Said a red-haired classmate walking up to the three.

"Oh Kirishima, it's you," greeted Dante. "Is Tokoyami really that good? I didn't get to see him much during the quirk assessment test."

Kirishima grinned, "Just you wait and see."

All Might then walked in and gave the instructions to start.

The class watched on a large monitor and screens as Midoriya and Ochako entered the building after spending a short while discussing their plan of attack.

Midoriya and Ochako quickly yet cautiously run into a tall building in search of the villains, Tokoyami and Aoyama.

The timer countered down as the hero team cautiously combed each floor. Soon they reached the 4 floor, where the bomb was situated. They quickly crept along, sticking to the walls, checking each room on their way.

Midoriya stopped, "I think I heard something." He whispered to his teammate. They paused to listen.

They heard a voice.

"Over there. It's coming for that room." Ochako pointed out.

They carefully approached the room's entrance. Midoriya stealth poked his head in and spotted the villain team guarding the bomb and Aoyama proudly monologuing to no one in particular.

He took a glance around the room and turned to Ochako Uraraka to relay, "I see Aoyama but I don't see Tokoyami anywhere."

"Do you think he left to find us?" Ochako asked.

Midoriya pondered deeply for a moment before responding, "Maybe..."

"Should we wait for him or should we continue with the plan?"

Midoriya was a little apprehensive, he didn't like that he didn't know the location of Tokoyami. However, they were unlikely to get a chance like this again.

"We continue with the plan," Midoriya replied firmly.

He then signaled to Ochako Uraraka, to which she nodded at him. Taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm his nerves, Midoriya jumped into the opened doorway in plain view of the Aoyama. Then he stumbled back ready to run but noticed that although Aoyama saw him he did not try to give chase rather he simply raised his guard and protected the bomb.

He stopped awkwardly, unsure what to do. He looked at Ochako in confusion.

At this point, Aoyama stepped forward, "Haha, Midoriya boy, you thought you could pull a fast one on us, mon ami?" Whizzing his hand through his hair, "But my dear Midoriya, it makes no sense for us to chase you. We have the bomb and time is running out. All we have to do is wait, little Midoriya, haha."

*Pew*

"Now, take a blast of my fabulous laser canon." He rejoiced before using his quirk to fire a laser beam from his belly button at Midoriya.

Midoriya quickly ducked behind the entrance wall narrowly avoiding the blast. Another beam blasted at the wall, creating cracks in it.

"What should we do now Deku?" Asked Ochako also hiding next to him as they were being bombarded with laser canon.

"Looks like they planned to bait the villain team away from the bomb but it didn't seem to work," Calvin stated watching from the monitoring room.

Kirishima and Momo hummed.

Panicked and under fire, Midoriya tried to think of a plan. He could see cracks starting to appear in the wall. He was running out of time, did they need to retreat and regroup or was there another way?

He could feel the rhythmic clashing of the laser as it scorched through the wall. The pulsing pew pew, like a robotic heartbeat.

"Should we just leave?" Uraraka suggested Midoriya, feeling the wall growing hot and the danger getting closer.

Midoriya looked at her uncertain eyes and determination flashed in his. He didn't want to retreat, he knew it meant nothing but it felt like if he did he would be letting down All Might.

He grabbed Uraraka by the hand and said with great determination, "No, I'll stop him. You try to grab the bomb."

After he had said that he let go of her hand and waited for a few seconds before charging into the room.

He charged at Aoyama fuelled by a burning desire to win. When he saw that Aoyama was not firing his bellybutton laser he smiled. 'I knew it.' He thought. 'He can't fire it continuously, he has to stop. And that is how we will win.' He cheered.

Midoriya's plan to charge in seemingly out of nowhere startled Aoyama causing him to stumble back. He tried to hurry his laser cooldown and fire but it was too late Midoriya was already close enough. His quirk would reach him.

"What is he doing?" Asked Yoayorozu bewildered.

Midoriya aimed his hand as his thumb and index finger curled for a flick, pulsing with red electric glow. Ready to fire.

Just then a shadowy figure seemingly fell from the ceiling, descending on Midoriya like a falcon.

Surprised by the sudden presence Midoriya looked up only to be greeted with a swift kick to the face that sent him crashing through the scorched wall landing hard, back in the hallway as dust and debris rained around him.

The cloaked individual landed next to Aoyama and immediately wiped around to Uraraka, who just as planned, had used the commotion as a distraction to try to reach the bomb.

As he turned a shadow-like whip slashed out from his belly grabbing a hold of Uraraka's ankle and sent her crashing into Midoriya.
