- Location: Asgard / Palace.
Pov. Third-person.
It was already night in Asgard, in the royal room Odin found himself resting in his bed after a long day.
"Ah~... What's just missing now is my beloved wife, I just hope your meeting with the queen of the light elves is brief... Hmm... I just hope the queen of the elves is as healthy as ever" said Odin, with a small, degenerate smile.
However, the quiet moment was interrupted by someone entering the room.
It was Tyr, commander of the Asgardian army.
"My king!" said Tyr.
"Ah!" Odin shouted as he jumped from the bed.
Odin then noticed Tyr.
"Tyr…what is it now? Can't you see I'm on my break?" asked Odin regretfully.
"Err... As I understand you, my king... It's something important," said Tyr.
"So tell me, what can be so important that you walk into my room at my rest time?" asked Odin.
For a moment, Tyr was hesitating to respond...
"Perhaps... It would be better... You accompany me?" insisted Tyr uncertainly.
Odin was confused.
How difficult was it to report the news?
- Timeskip: 10 minutes.
- Location: Asgard / Palace / Throne Room.
As soon as some gods gathered in the throne room, everyone was waiting for one person's word.
"...So...What is so important Sif?" said Odin.
Beside him was Frigg, who had quickly returned from her diplomatic meeting with the leader of the Elves of Álfheim, having been notified of an emergency meeting.
There were also some gods Vanir and Aesir in the throne room.
Everyone looked at one person.
Sif.
And she looked nervous since as soon as she returned to Asgard, she took Frey to the healing chamber and headed to the palace to tell her about her mission in Jotunheim...or at least, her failure.
She met the goddess Freyja who immediately asked what had happened to her brother. Sif, however, only replied that she needed to gather her parents in the throne room.
"Ahem... I met Prince Frey and Prince Thor in Jotunheim during my mission, and out of curiosity I asked them what they were doing there, and... They replied that they were heading towards the castle of Útgard- "As soon as Sif uttered those words, Frigg immediately interrupted her.
"WHAT?!" shouted Frigg.
"My love... While I understand your shock, let Sif finish" said Odin.
While this seemed to silence Frigg, she didn't seem calm.
"You can go on Sif... Tell us what happened" said Odin, gesturing with his hand.
"Well... When I found out where they were going, I asked them to call in backup, due to Jotuns' hostile behavior over the last few years, but they wouldn't listen... Frey said nothing would happen as we were 'allies', and Thor told me not to worry so much," Sif said.
"…Frey is going to take a good beating from me when he wakes up," Skadi said, whispering to her husband, Njord, who was beside her. Freyja was also close to them, but she wore a face that showed concern.
"So when we arrived at the castle...".
And so Sif continued to tell her story.
While Sif was reporting the current situation to the gods, someone was taking on the role of... 'Population control'?
- Location: Jotunheim / Utgard Castle / Main hall corridor.
Third-person PoV.
A group of Jotuns was running towards the main hall. The Jotun who was leading the small group of 20 Jotuns began to speak.
"Let's go! He's just a man! Don't be afraid of a mere Aesir-".
He was then interrupted by a bolt of lightning that struck his face... And pierced his skull.
The rest of the group of Jotuns then froze and looked towards the source of the lightning... And they saw a frightening sight.
It was Thor, in clothes stained with blood red, walking towards them and dragging the Mjolnir on the ground.
"*Hic* Hmm... Body number 275... Or is it 276?*Hic*... I lost the count..." said Thor, while sighing.
Then Thor looked at the group of Jotuns... and smiled.
"*Hic*... Hello~... Who wants to be the next number?" Thor asked with an innocent tone… But his smile was disturbing.
As soon as Thor finished this question, some of the Jotuns in the group got nervous and started to retreat in their steps.
"Huh? *Hic*... No volunteers?... Alright, I'll decide for you then!" said Thor.
As soon as Thor finished speaking, he ran towards the group.
- Location: Jotunheim / Utgard Castle / Castle's inner courtyard.
"Stay together! And remember, DON'T attack blindly alone!" said a Jotun.
In the courtyard of the castle, opposite the main hall, a large number of Jotuns, approximately 500, were being gathered, with half of them wielding bows and arrows.
The Jotun who was leading them was called Folstag and he was one of the survivors from the main hall. When Thor started killing his comrades like it was nothing... He ran towards the courtyard in search of reinforcements without anyone noticing.
The irony was that Folstag was known as the 'personification' of courage.
But in that particular situation... Even the 'bravest' was afraid of death.
Before he gave any more orders... The doors to the hall of the main hall were opened, or rather 'pushed' by a Jotun who flew out of the corridor...
This Jotun was without his head.
As soon as the 500 Jotuns in the courtyard noticed this, they pointed their weapons towards the corridor. Nobody dared to make a noise.
Until the sounds of footsteps, which seemed to be made of iron, echoed.
A small figure began to appear, this figure had long hair the color of blood, and his clothes, once white... They were stained red.
No Jotun made a single move, it seemed that everyone had stopped breathing. When Folstag realized this, he knew he must do something, because when despair rules an army… Defeat is inevitable.
"… You will pay for what you did Asgardian, blood for blood! You will die here, I swear this!" said the Jotun called Folstag.
Thor just stared at him before answering.
"*Hic*... You're not the first Jotun to threaten me with those words... But maybe I'll make you the last," Thor replied.
Folstag was nervous, as were the rest of the Jotuns.
But soon, Folstag wasted no time and began the attack.
"…I am Folstag the 'personification' of courage! I am not afraid of you! Jotuns! CHARGE!" shouted Folstag.
Then 250 Jotuns fired arrows, while the other 250 joined Folstag on the offensive.
"*Hic*... Then you'll die braver than most," said Thor, with a smile.
Thor then raised the Mjolnir and lightning began to form around him.
- Location: Asgard / Palace / Throne Room.
"Did you leave my son there?!" shouted someone.
It was Frigg who had received news from Sif, that she had fled carrying Frey but had left Thor behind in Útgard castle. While most of the gods were in shock at the news that Thor had managed to kill one Jotun alone, Frigg was more concerned about what came next.
Thor stood alone in a castle full of Jotuns.
Sif then knelt.
"I beg your pardon, my queen! But it was the orders Prince Thor gave me…" Sif replied, bowing.
"That's not an excuse! Aren't you an einherjar?! What's your code when you're in a fight?! Say it!" questioned Frigg angrily.
"…' Until the last breath,'" Sif replied, lowering her head further in shame.
When Frigg looked like she was going to say more, Odin cut her off.
"Enough, words will not change the situation," said Odin.
Frigg was silent, but her anger was still noticeable.
Odin then turned to face Tyr.
"... How much time do you need?" asked Odin.
It seemed that everyone in the throne room knew what Odin was asking Tyr...
The question was: How soon can you prepare our army to be ready to march?
The intention was clear.
Asgard would go to war again.
- Timeskip: 8 hours.
- Location: Jotunheim / close to Útgard Castle.
The Asgardian army consisted of 5000 einherjar, 1000 light elves, 1000 dark elves, 700 dwarves as siege weapons builders, 500 Trolls, 200 Huldras as healers, 200 Fossegrimen, 50 Vanir gods, and the 6 Valkyries, all led by 50 Aesir gods with Odin being the main leader in battle.
The few gods were due to the latest wars for supremacy, which ended much of the Aesir and Vanir bloodline.
Many felt that the fight was lost long before it even started, due to the fame of the Jotuns and their current large numbers compared to the last war.
It was almost certain that the Jotuns would win, as not even the Aesir or the Vanir could go toe-to-toe against the Jotuns.
Everyone feared the coming battle.
There was a storm in Jotunheim, and it was very dark, but it would soon be dawn.
Then the army marched to Útgard castle, when they got close enough, the storm eased as the sun began to peek over the horizon.
The vision that the Asgardian army faced, would go down in the history of the Norse pantheon.
Thor, son of Odin, sat on a severed head of a Jotun, and around him were piles of bodies... Bloodstained the walls and floor of the once dreaded Útgard's winter castle, which was now so damaged internally that it looked like a pile of rubble.
Thor was smeared from head to toe with blood, as was his giant warhammer, the Mjolnir.
But the biggest surprise was the countenance of Thor.
It looked like he was… Bored?
It was then that Thor sensed he was being watched, and he turned toward their gaze.
When Thor realized it was Odin's army... He smiled.
"Ah?~*Hic* you guys took too long!"
At that time, Thor received a few more titles by other races, like:
- The nightmare of giants.
- The bloodthirsty drunkard.
- The calamity of Jotunheim.
Were some of the titles, but there was one title that became a reference, not only for the Nordic pantheon but also for the other pantheons.
The strongest Norse god.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
The next update will be probably on Sunday (12/05/21)
I'm planning to write another story during the month of December and January, but that won't get in the way of my other fics, and I'll only publish it when I have enough chapters. My other fanfic about Jaune Arc (RWBY) will also be updated soon.
Until next time, and don't forget to leave your comment!
