Chapter 19: Remember This Temperature, Indeed…
Xiao En quickly found all the suppressants stored at home.
There weren’t many, only eight in total.
Dean inputted a specific program into Xiao En’s intelligent system, recording the dates of each of Yi Er’s estrus periods to predict the next onset time, proactively preparing a sufficient quantity of suppressants.
In front of Yi Er, without saying a word, Qi Yao collected all eight suppressants. He had no habit of casually destroying things, so he took them all into his own room and locked them in a cabinet.
When he returned to Yi Er’s room after angrily completing this task, Yi Er had already returned to normal.
Watching Qi Yao’s actions full of resentment, Yi Er found it amusing but also knew very well that he had provoked him.
Using suppressants to alleviate his estrus period in front of his dominant mate, he deserved his mate’s anger.
“Why did you come to me just now?” The atmosphere in the room was somewhat tense. Yi Er didn’t know how to comfort zergs, so he spoke awkwardly.
Qi Yao closed the window tightly, pulled the curtains shut with a swish, and sat on the sofa, kicking the trash can in a burst of frustration without even looking at Yi Er. “I came to you to vent my anger.”
Kicking the trash can was purely a venting gesture, but unexpectedly, when Xiao En heard the sound, he promptly took away the empty suppressants from the trash can and left with them.
Qi Yao: “…”
Even the mechanical zerg was very clever, knowing it should stay away now.
But the involved zerg Yi Er was in a dilemma.
Having never comforted a zerg before, he didn’t know where to start.
According to the “Rules of Female zergs” that he had been exposed to since childhood, he should now take the initiative to kneel down, raise the small whip over his head obediently, and humbly say, “Please punish me, lord,” in order to seek Qi Yao’s forgiveness.
But he couldn’t do it, nor could he say it.
And Qi Yao probably wouldn’t even ask him to do that.
The silent air was filled with Qi Yao’s fiery temperament.
Qi Yao stared straight at Yi Er, making Yi Er feel uncomfortable all over. He had to speak up softly, “Lord…”
Should he admit his mistake? Or should he apologize?
He really didn’t know what to do.
Qi Yao took in Yi Er’s helpless and clueless appearance, maintaining his angry stance, refusing to give Yi Er an out.
Approaching Qi Yao’s side, Yi Er took a deep breath and whispered, “I didn’t mean to disregard you, Lord…”
This lie was indeed difficult to fabricate. Even though Yi Er, a proud and confident general, tried to convince himself, he couldn’t solve the century-old problem of not making his mate angry.
Seeing that Yi Er couldn’t come up with anything, Qi Yao’s tight grip on the figurative lifeline loosened involuntarily.
He murmured, “Is the effect of suppressants more comfortable than relying on mental strength?”
Yi Er remained silent, listening quietly.
Qi Yao pondered, “I’m not trying to lecture you. I can’t come up with more reasons. I just want to say, since we’ve recognized each other as mates, we are the closest companions. Companions trust each other… But Yi Er, why is it that when you face difficulties like this, your first thought isn’t of me? You’d rather trust a suppressant than me.”
“If I hadn’t come to you just now, I wouldn’t even know…” Qi Yao waved his hand, not finishing his sentence.
Yi Er was speechless.
He indeed hadn’t intended to let Qi Yao know about this matter.
If Qi Yao hadn’t come knocking, according to the usual course of events, he would have relied on suppressants to safely pass through this pre-estrus period, just like every previous one.
Qi Yao’s gaze remained fixed on Yi Er. It was bewildering to see such a tall and confident military female general unable to utter a single word.
“Why aren’t you speaking?” Qi Yao asked.
Yi Er hesitated, cautiously asking, “If I speak, will you continue to be angry?”
“Yes,” Qi Yao replied.
Yi Er sighed, “Then how can I avoid making you angry?”
Qi Yao countered, “Do you trust me?”
Yi Er was taken aback. Qi Yao had been repeating the word “trust” all night.
Qi Yao said, “On our first night after marriage, I told you that I would respect your wishes, wouldn’t force you, and wouldn’t take advantage of you. But it seems like you didn’t listen.”
Yi Er softened his tone, “I did listen.”
“If you listened, why are you still like this? During your estrus period, I will help you cope, won’t mistreat you, but you simply don’t believe me.”
This topic couldn’t be avoided, leaving Yi Er feeling despondent.
Honestly speaking, Qi Yao was a good male lord. These days after their marriage, he had always considered Qi Yao in everything and never violated any of the promises he made to him.
He just happened to use suppressants behind Qi Yao’s back during this estrus period. He hadn’t expected Qi Yao’s reaction to be so intense.
Married female zergs instinctively harbor mating desires during estrus, and privately using suppressants without the male’s consent is indeed an unforgivable mistake in the eyes of outsiders.
But Qi Yao was only angry with him, not reprimanding or beating him, which was good enough.
Yi Er leaned over, took Qi Yao’s hand, and said softly, “Next time, I’ll ask you to help me.”
Qi Yao glanced sideways, his gaze skeptical.
Yi Er said, “The feeling of suppressants isn’t good. At the moment of injection, the cold liquid mixes into the blood, first feeling pain, then numbness, and finally comfort. The process is slow and requires multiple cycles to be effective.”
Qi Yao realized that Yi Er was answering the question he had asked earlier.
Speaking gently and meticulously, Yi Er continued, “The mental strength of a male is indeed more comfortable than suppressants. So, can I ask you to help me every time I have an estrus period in the future?”
After he finished speaking, he gently squeezed Qi Yao’s hand.
Qi Yao was a bit stunned by the gesture, and inevitably softened inside. “Then when will your next one be?”
Yi Er hesitated for a moment.
Qi Yao urged, “Why aren’t you saying?”
Yi Er knew that Qi Yao had softened, and admitted, “I’m not quite sure of the exact time. Should I ask Xiao En?”
Qi Yao got up, evidently about to go ask Xiao En.
Yi Er firmly held him back. “No need to hurry. Xiao En will remind me a day in advance. Tomorrow, Dean will be at work, so I’ll have him reset Xiao En’s program, and then Xiao En will remind you too. Is that okay?”
Qi Yao thought to himself, “Xiao En already reminds you a day in advance, and yet you acted as if nothing happened all day long, perfectly normal, without giving any hint. That’s impressive.” He silently mocked himself, realizing that he didn’t want to quarrel with Yi Er. He was only angry because at this intimate moment when Yi Er needed him, Yi Er’s first thought wasn’t of him but of emotionless suppressants, making Qi Yao feel even less significant than a single suppressant.
But now that Yi Er had softened and apologized to him, Qi Yao didn’t want to appear aggressive. He nodded satisfactorily and said, “Alright.”
With these words, the stone that had been hanging in Yi Er’s heart finally fell.
After all the fuss, Qi Yao didn’t feel like asking Yi Er to help him select courses anymore. He clapped his hands and prepared to return to his room, intending to review today’s performance to see if it was enough to gain some favorability points.
He now realized that his feelings for Yi Er were no longer as simple as completing a task; there was a hint of greed, a desire for equal reciprocity from Yi Er.
To achieve that, he first needed to establish an intimate connection with Yi Er, such as comforting him during his estrus period.
“It’s getting late. I’ll go back to my room now and won’t disturb your rest,” Qi Yao said, getting up.
“Back to your room? I thought you might stay a bit longer.”
“…,” Qi Yao’s steps slowed down, hesitating, “Well, I suppose I could.”
Yi Er pursed his lips.
Qi Yao said, “But, why do you want me to stay?”
Yi Er’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “What do you want to do?” 🙂
“I’ll think about it…” Qi Yao already had an idea in mind. “Yi Er, would you like to try my mental strength?”
*
After showering, the two zergs lay on the bed, and Qi Yao’s mental strength spread slowly throughout the room, with him at the center.
In fact, Yi Er had no problem at all. He just didn’t want Qi Yao to feel uncomfortable because of his anger, so he readily agreed, intending to make Qi Yao happy.
Qi Yao held Yi Er’s hand, carefully controlling his mental strength, neither probing too much nor showing any provocation. It was as gentle as a tiny stream, permeating Yi Er’s mental domain.
With his eyes closed, Yi Er relaxed completely.
As he felt the sensation, he suddenly smiled.
Qi Yao was puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
Yi Er dared not say that Qi Yao was being too careful, but it was like tickling, this almost imperceptible mental strength wouldn’t even comfort a D-grade female zerg during estrus.
Yi Er said, “Ease up a bit. It was more comfortable last time at the aerial Restaurant. That way, it’s more comfortable.”
Qi Yao suddenly understood what Yi Er was laughing about. Yi Er was still complaining about him being stingy. He withdrew his mental strength, turned his face away, and twisted his body, refusing to let Yi Er use it anymore.
Yi Er felt guilty again for provoking Qi Yao. He quickly tried to please him, saying, “Actually, it wasn’t that bad when I had an episode just now. Xiao En brought the suppressant to me in time, and I’m completely fine now. You don’t need to waste your energy helping me alleviate it.”
Qi Yao didn’t know if he heard it or not. He muttered quietly, “Is there any warmth?”
“What?” Yi Er didn’t catch it.
“I mean, my mental strength compared to the suppressants you use.”
“Of course.”
Qi Yao mumbled, “Remember this warmth. It’s indeed more comfortable than suppressants.”
Apparently, the male lord was still holding a grudge. Helpless, Yi Er said, “Alright, I’ll remember.”
Qi Yao then turned over, propped his arm, and faced Yi Er, his eyes closed, as he brought up his terminal and listed out the mech courses he had gathered earlier.
“If you’re not going to sleep yet, help me go through these courses. Which ones do you think I can learn? I want to study them.”
