Chapter 64 - Surrounding Kouxuan, Waiting for the Prey
Inside the hidden chamber of the underground palace within the Qi Yuan Cavern, the five disciples, led by Yuan Kouxuan were filled with joy. Their spoils were so plentiful that their storage bags could no longer hold anything more.
Stepping up to help, the loyal River Beaver, now serving as Purple Cloud Peak’s dedicated spirit farmer, volunteered to bear the burden. The poor creature’s back was piled high with a mountain of bags, its trembling legs threatening to give way. Though it tried to maintain a smile, its tear-streaked face betrayed its true feelings—this was a burden it never signed up for.
If only it could relive that fateful day, it would never have dared to loose that one arrow or challenge these terrifying humans. Instead, it would have willingly offered up the Green Lotus the moment it laid eyes on them.
But life, like a river, only flows forward.
“Master, are we leaving from here?” Yuan Kouxuan asked, her tone soft yet respectful.
“Yes. There’s a secret exit here that leads directly to the outside. Stay close and don’t fall behind,” Xu Yang instructed.
He knew about the hidden exit from the Qi Yuan Cavern, a crucial detail in the original tale where the protagonist used it to escape potential danger under the guidance of his mystical jade pendant.
Yuan Kouxuan, her fellow disciples, and the loyal River Beaver followed Xu Yang closely.
A single spirit boat ascended into the skies from the Heavenly Secret Mountains, its destination—the Qingming Sect.
Outside a beast’s lair.
The Sect Master of the Mystic Heaven Sect, Venerable Xuanqi, stood with his elders, eyes fixed on the cave. Days ago, through his immense spiritual perception, Venerable Xuanqi had traced the faint bloodstains of his fallen son, Wang Teng, to this very spot. It was here that he discovered traces of a hidden void barrier carved into the rock—clear evidence of a secret cave mansion.
He had tried to break through the barrier with his immense power, but the strange laws of the void thwarted him at every turn. His elders fared no better, with some suffering backlash so severe that they were gravely injured.
Anger boiled beneath Venerable Xuanqi’s composed surface. Unable to breach the barrier, he chose to wait—an immovable sentinel burning with vengeance.
“Master, must we continue to guard this place endlessly?” one of the elders finally asked.
Venerable Xuanqi’s icy glare silenced the questioner. Within, he cursed his incompetent subordinates. How dare they suggest abandoning this post? If they left, the murderer of his son could escape without consequence.
Only blood could avenge blood.
Grief and rage turned his gaze into a blazing inferno, the suffocating aura forcing even the bravest of his elders to bow under its weight.
Aboard the spirit boat.
Inside the cabin, Xu Yang lay back, enjoying a meticulous massage from his eldest disciple, Yuan Kouxuan. Dressed in a pristine white dress, she sat astride his thighs, her delicate hands kneading his muscles.
The scene tested even Xu Yang’s unshakable composure.
Just as his thoughts began to wander, a knock came at the cabin door.
“Master, I’ve come to give you a massage!” came Qing’er’s eager voice.
Without waiting for permission, Situ Qingqing entered, spotting Yuan Kouxuan mid-massage. “Oh, Senior Sister, you’re here too?”
Yuan Kouxuan calmly adjusted her dress, smoothing its hemline before replying in a measured tone, “Qing’er, Master doesn’t need two people attending to him. You should leave.”
“That won’t do, Senior Sister,” Situ Qingqing protested. “Master isn’t just yours to serve. We all want to show our filial respect!”
Frowning slightly, Yuan Kouxuan realized Qing’er’s unusual boldness. Before she could respond, Xue Jinli entered the cabin, accompanied by Ruan Yuer and a shy Liu Beifeng. Xue Jinli’s voice rang out, “Exactly! Senior Sister, you can’t hog Master all to yourself. We also want to honor him!”
Realizing she was outnumbered, Yuan Kouxuan tactfully shifted her position, gracefully yielding part of the seat while still maintaining a dignified air. “Fine. Since everyone insists, let’s serve Master together.”
Pleased with this victory, Situ Qingqing quickly claimed a seat on Xu Yang’s other leg. The rest took their places, with Xue Jinli and Ruan Yuer each clinging to one of Xu Yang’s arms.
Each disciple brought their own unique techniques to the task, leaving Xu Yang’s thoughts in utter disarray.
“Enough!” Xu Yang suddenly exclaimed, startling them all. “We’ll continue later—I have something to attend to.”
Fleeing the cabin, Xu Yang took a moment to regain his composure on the deck. After a few deep breaths, he pulled out a communication jade slip, crafting a message for Sect Master Ji Hongluan of the Qingming Sect:
“A strange cave mansion has appeared in the Heavenly Secret Mountains. Send disciples to investigate immediately.”
Satisfied, Xu Yang pocketed the jade slip and returned to the cabin, determined to maintain control this time.
