Chapter 9: More Truths
"Dean?" a deep voice comes out of the phone.
"Dad?" Dean immediately answers after picking up, in a tone that says that he's ready for whatever order he's about to receive.
He, Sam, and Ruby are currently in the Impala, Dean driving them to the meet-up place they have with the boys's father John Winchester.
"Is Sam there with you?" John questions
Dean glances at Sam who nods at him,
"Yeah, he's right next to me."
"Give him the phone. I've got to talk to him." John orders.
"Yes, sir." Dean says as he with a look tells Sam that their dad wants to talk to him and hands him the phone.
"Father?"
"Elkins is dead, the thing's gone," John tells him straight to the point, not one to waste time.
Sam hearing this narrows his eyes and clicks his tongue in annoyance, 'That's unfortunate, but not without upsides.' Sam thinks to himself.
"Any sign of what killed him?"
"Best guess, vampires. His neck was ripped open, by what looks like teeth, that's what I'm basing this on.
There are signs of struggle, but no sulfur is present in the house or inside Elkins meaning he wasn't possessed nor was a demon here.
His heart is still in there so no werewolf and there are no EMF readings that suggest ghost activity in the house, though checking that was mostly to cover all bases, because any hunter worth their salt wouldn't have a ghost around where they live.
Elkins was mainly a vampire hunter like you know so this being their work isn't something out there." John explained.
"Indeed, but the timing is very unfortunate."
"Sam, what's going on, what's dad saying?" Dean questions.
"Elkins is dead and the thing's gone," Sam explains to Dean.
"Son of a bitch!" Dean yells enraged.
"Now what are we gonna do?" Dean asks very much still angry, but no longer yelling.
"I'm thinking about it," Sam answers,
"Though, dad, let's meet up at Bobby's, there's much to explain, that is better unsaid on the phone."
John knows his son very well, he may have been gone a lot because of hunts, but he still raised his sons and he knows when his son is afraid, but he's never heard him be afraid of him which causes John to tense nearly demanding what's wrong,
But he forcefully calms himself knowing anything that Sam wishes to say is important and better not said on the phone, especially something he's even afraid of telling him, his own father.
"All right, I'll see you at Singer's." He responds then shuts the call.
"So we're going to Bobby's?"
"Yeah Dean, we could use his help. He's trustworthy." Sam confirms.
"Of course he is, he's Bobby," Dean tells him with a grin on his face, eyes on the road.
Even though the Colt's missing, meeting Bobby will always brighten Dean's day, because he was always like the Uncle they never had, but missed.
"What about me? Am I coming too?"
Questions Ruby from the backseat of the car for the first time. Her clothes now are more in line with her canon counterpart. Dark leather jacket and everything.
"Of course you are, you're mine Ruby remember? Body, Heart, and Soul, no way am I letting you out of my sight after what Yellow Eyes tried two days ago," Sam told her, causing Ruby to blush.
"Ugh, gross, if you're gonna flirt, then flirt on your own time not in my line of sight or hearing Sammy," Dean complains.
"Hypocrite, didn't see you holding yourself back trying to flirt with me when we first met." Ruby retorted annoyed.
"Yeah, well, that was me only joking around, and besides, then I didn't know you were a black-eyed bitch!"
"Try saying that when we aren't in a moving vehicle Dean if you're brave. I'll rip out your tongue and make you swallow it," Ruby hissed.
"Oh, yeah? " Dean retorted angrily, picking up the gun, and nearly turning his head towards her, "Then I'll shoot you in that black heart of yours that's deceived my brother into thinking you can actually love him, you infernal skank!" Dean retorted angrily, causing Ruby nearly attack him if not for Sam stopping her.
"Okay, enough, both of you!" Sam yelled, interrupting them, and causing both to hold their tongues and maiming hands- in Ruby's case.
As they both received a glare from Sam, Ruby sat back in her seat and Dean focused back on the road.
"Ruby," Sam called, addressing her, "Don't ever again try to attack my brother, I won't tolerate anyone hurting him, you hear me? Not even you." Sam told her sternly causing her to lower her head with a nod, but anger still present in her eyes yet not daring to defy Sam.
Ruby with Sam is the perfect woman any man would want, loving, caring, listens and very affectionate, but that's for Sam alone, to anyone else, she still has her violent demonic tendencies.
Sam is the man she's In love with and also the one she's acknowledged as her king above even Lucifer, so she will obey him no matter what.
"And Dean, I'm telling you lay off. I also expect from you to never threaten to or God forbid actually kill Ruby, she's mine whether you like it or not therefore she has my heart. Harming her is harming me.
You better accept it moving forward Dean because this is just how it's going to be from now on, understand?" Sam told him sternly, causing Dean to grit his teeth and tighten his grip on the steering wheel,
"She's using you Sammy! Don't you see that!?" Dean yelled
"And how is she in God's name doing that Dean?" Sam questioned, giving him what Dean likes to call, 'his bitch face'
"She's a demon, it's what they do!" Dean yelled.
"She can't Dean! She literally can't! I know her inside out, soul and body and heart! Yellow Eyes literally tried to kill her and wouldn't have succeeded if it weren't for me rescuing her!" Sam retorted.
"How do you know that wasn't an act!? How do you know she's not faking it and you just can't see it!? That she still is trying to turn you as she herself said she tried into Lucifer's meatsuit!"
"Because I literally can't be lied to!" Sam yelled.
"What?" Dean questioned confused.
"Damn it, seems I can't keep a single thing to myself these days..." Sam muttered under his breath.
"Dean, I always know when someone is lying, literally, always and no one and I mean absolutely no existence can lie to me without knowing, its just who I am I suppose." Sam explained.
"The Hell? How does that even work? And why do you even have that?" Dean questioned, though believing his brother because he trusts him and knows he never lies.
"I may have a theory as to why that is..." Ruby suddenly commented gaining the attention of both boys, their looks beckoning her to continue.
"That ability, it is... Well, it was believed to be a legend but now hearing what Sam said may be true. Lucifer is the Light Bringer, as you all know and...
Well, whether we like it or not Sam is his other half, and this particular ability of seeing the truth for what it is was always something to do with the soul rather than angelic grace.
It was a gift God gave him, to always see the truth for what it is, though it is possible the thing the in that Cage no longer possess that ability.
Its fall otherwise wouldn't have happened is what's thought in the bowels of Hell, otherwise he would've been able to devise the greatest of strategies and wouldn't have lost to Michael is what is said.
Also, some scorned demons in Hell who said that If Lucifer had that ability then, that he wouldn't have defied God because he would've seen the truth of his justice.
That's why some these days, who are called blasphemous in Hell, say that Lucifer should no longer be called that. That if he ever was truly the Light Bringer, the Knower of Truth, the angel of truth and light that he wouldn't have fallen.
But to not digress, that gift is one inherent to Well, Lucifer, and it is gifted to his very essence, not his grace, since Sam is his other half, meaning twin souls-"
"Wait, twin souls, the fuck!?" Dean exclaimed.
"Yes, his soul is made from the same thing Lucifer was made. So it stands to reason that Sam shares that same gift or the gift hopped to him when Lucifer was no longer worthy of it in the eyes of God." Ruby finished explaining.
"That's... That's a lot to take in..." Sam said contemplating Ruby's words.
'Is that what happened?' Sam thought to himself. 'Did the Mark of Darkness, the evil of creation which Lucifer took upon himself to seal corrupt him, cloud his mind so much that he fell into darkness losing his inner light? The light of truth?' Sam thought to himself, but then immediately cut it off because this was no time to have sympathy for the enemy, because that's what Lucifer is now, the enemy.
Whatever made him that way, whatever else is responsible doesn't change that very fact. Therefore, as the three digested all the information they suddenly learned, they silently drove to Bobby's knowing that whatever happened in the past, doesn't change anything towards how they should deal with it.
And deal with it they shall, they have to, to live.
