Reborn as Sam Winchester in Supernatural TV

Chapter 6: Needed conversation

"She's what!?" Dean yelled. It's been two days since Sam left Stanford with him, and tonight in fourteen hours they need to be back.

For now, they're standing at an abandoned gas station, Dean refilling the impala after finishing the hunt of the woman in white far faster than in canon because of Sam's knowledge of what should've happened and their combined increased knowledge of lore because of this Sam's insistence of reading and memorizing any monster they could find the lore of.

"Dean, calm down, she isn't like the others." Sam tried to explain.

"The hell she isn't Sam! I can't believe you've been screwing a- a literal demon chick!" Dean yells in disgust.

Sam could only sigh in frustration. "This is why I didn't want to tell you, because you'd react like this."

"How the fuck else was I supposed to react!? Be all whoospy fucking dasy!? Like, 'oh nice little brother, you are screwing goodness into evil incarnate,' literally!" Dean retorted

"Dean," Sam began trying to be as patient as possible, "You don't know what demons are, well, most of them."

"Then enlighten me," Dean ordered.

"They were... they were once human Dean," Sam explained in a soft and gentle tone.

"What?" Dean questioned in shock.

"Look, people die, and well, based on sins go to hell, demon deals being one of them. I know her Dean, I researched about her, and I know how she became a demon Dean." Sam tried to explain.

"And how in the hell do you know that? Huh? How? There isn't like a demon encyclopedia for how everyone downstairs became a demon!" Dean retorted.

Sam grits his teeth. He knew this would have happened, but he wasn't in the mood for him to shoot Ruby with the new awesome gun they'd just made on the principle of her being a demon and the whole 'shoot first ask questions later' modus operandi of hunters, his brother, and father included.

Him explaining how he's psychic even less so, "Because I'm psychic Dean!"

And another shock bomb just dropped as Dean once more repeated his least favorite word these last two days, "What?"

"Dean," Sam began, "I'm psychic, okay, and I read her mind. I've... look, remember that night?"

"You really gonna ask me that Sammy? 'Remember that night?' of course I fucking remember that night!" Dean answered in anger. All these shocking things about his brother brought him into a state of complete rage, but he was also very much concerned.

"I may have left out some things when I explained it to father and you. And before you say anything," Sam quickly said as he saw Dean's anger rise even more as he opened his mouth stopping any words on his tongue with his next words, "Please, just, listen to me and let me explain. What I'm about to tell you isn't something I found just easy to tell anyone about."

Dean closed his mouth and took a deep breath, sighing. He looked one more time into his little brother's eyes and seeing the sincerity in them, he nodded.

"Look, all that I told you and father that day was the truth, but I left out what the demon did that night to me. You and father being in shock because of mother being a hunter and her deal didn't make it difficult, and I really wasn't ready to tell you, I didn't... I didn't want you and father to look at me... Look at me like I'm a monster. Th-"

"Sammy," Dean interrupted softly, in a gentle tone. "You can never be a monster Sammy, no matter what anyone says, you'll always just be my pain in the ass little brother, you hear me?"

At this a soft smile bloomed on Sam's face, but quickly fell, "Just- Just, don't make any promises you can't keep Dean. You know I hate being lied to. Listen to what I'm saying and then tell me, if you still think like that.

Look, that demon came that day and spoke about how I'm special like I told you and father, that I had a very strong and bright soul. But what I didn't explain is that it- damn it..." Sam stumbled over his words. He's never felt ashamed before this day of what happened then, he actually was glad for what Azazel gave him that day, not so much for killing Mary, but it did give him the perfect weapon against all monsters in this world.

"I've got demon blood in me, okay!" Sam yelled out, after which he sighed, "Damn it! Finally said it." Though after that relief he looked his brother in the eye and saw absolute horror.

"Dean...?" Sam questioned softly.

"Sammy..." Dean could only say as he quickly tackled his brother into a hug.

"Little brother, I already told you, I- I'm not good with chick flick moments, that's more the girls I sleep with thing, not you, me, or dad's, but you got to believe me man, I would never, ever see you as anything but my little brother, you got that?" Dean told him as he broke the hug and cupped his brothers face, making him look into his eyes, see the sincerity in them.

Sam nodded with a smile, though a frown did soon replace with, but the tension in his body did leave for the most part. "Dean, the next part I will tell you, you probably won't like at all, but I need to do so, because secrets if remained too long can like I've told you long ago fester into a poison that melts away bridges between people.

Look, the demon blood, it didn't give me my psychic powers, but it did... it did strengthen them and lessen the burden.

And I... I've learned to use it, but," Sam tried to explain further, licking his lips because of how dry they've become. "The thing is Dean this is one of the reasons I need Jane- no Ruby to stay. I have plans for her."

Seeing how Sam stumbled over how to explain it Dean knew he wouldn't like where this is going but didn't interrupt. He knew Sam was trusting him a lot by opening up right now and he appreciated it, a lot.

"Demon blood is... It's from what I understand a strengthening medium for something like me, one with demon blood already in my veins...

Though from what I researched about vessels, is that our bloodline seems to be known in the more hidden side of the supernatural world, the Campbells in particular, there isn't really anything I could find about the Winchester side through research, that our bloodline makes especially great vessels for power, supernatural power.

I think that's what the demon wants me for, he wants me to, to consume demon blood in such great quantities that I would be consumed by the evil in it and go darkside, becoming a demon with no equal. He doesn't want soldiers, he wants a king." Sam explained.

Dean felt that there was a lot to unpack there, hearing what his little brother just said made him really want to call this whole hunting for revenge off and just take his brother to some obscure corner of the world and protect him from all the evil there is, but he knew that was impossible so he held back and stayed on topic.

"Okay... But what does that have to do with Ruby? Why do you need her?" Dean questioned.

"I... I'm planning to do what the demon wants, but in my own way." Sam answered.

Dean could only gape in shock, before he could come up with words of how insane he found this plan, "What!? The fuck Sam!? I know I sometimes joke about how you've gone crazy from all that information in that nerd brain of yours, but seriously!? Are you insane!?"

"No, Dean, look, this thing, I doubt it would only end with this demon, Dean. He may be the current boss, the current big bad, but I have no doubt that this isn't far bigger than him alone. Because I remember how he talked that day, this, this isn't about him and what only he wants.

This is about more, and I am sure it isn't anything good. I've over the years learned to cleanse the evil influence of the blood inside me. It is still infernal power, but the power of Hell isn't evil, it is simply power, a just power made by God as punishment for evil-doers. Look- no, just, wait a minute." Sam said after explaining.

As he sighed, he left for a moment for the trunk of the Impala, leaving Dean for a moment to digest what he said. He uncapped a bottle of water and drank it completely dry and closed the empty bottle once more, throwing it back into the trunk.

Dean stood there silently, his shoulders still completely tensed, ready for a heated argument, but still holding himself in to give his brother a chance.

"Look, Dean, I don't expect you to like this, but you need to understand. Whatever is coming, it is bigger than anything we've ever faced before, than anything any hunter has faced before.

Hell, it might be the literal end of the world, and Dean... We need to be ready Dean and to be ready we need power, lots of it because unlike them, we don't number in the thousands and aren't nearly as old as the very dirt we're standing on.

Ruby is the only way to do this in a controlled way because she actually genuinely loves me, is in love with me and, to be honest, I think I'm too." Sam finished, looking at his brother with conviction. Ready for any arguments he might throw at him.

Dean seeing this could only turn around, put his hands over his face, running them over his head and hair, and then screaming In frustration.

After which he took a deep breath and sighed, turning once more towards Sam who still stood there, ready for anything. "Damn it Sammy... This is why I always say that you are a pain in my ass. Fine, if you want to save that demon chick and bring her over to our side, then okay, I'm in.

But this... This turning yourself into some nuke, I really hate, but damn it do I know I can't stop you, so I'll be with you every step of the way, but we'll do it my way alright! You say this stuff can make you go darkside if taken too much and not properly treated than I choose the dosage, you hear me, no one else. Not dad, not Bobby, not you, Ruby, anyone, only me. Understand?" Dean said in a stern tone.

Sam slowly nodded, "Yeah Dean, I can agree to that."

Dean then went towards him and punched his arm causing Sam to cry out in pain for a moment, "The hell was that for!?"

"That was for hiding this from me," Dean answered with his signature devil may care smirk.

"Now, princess, let's go and save your demon princess." Dean said as he entered the Impala and started the engine, Sam smiling the whole way as he entered and they drove, because of how happy he was to have his brother on his side.
