Chapter 19: Chapter 17: A New Ally or an Enemy?
The figure ahead grew larger as Kai approached. It was tall, imposing, wearing a dark costume, with a symbol on its chest—an emblem that Kai didn't recognize. The figure turned toward him, and Kai's eyes narrowed. This person exuded power, confidence, and something else… familiarity.
As he stepped closer, the figure raised a hand, stopping him in his tracks.
"You're not from around here," the figure said, their voice calm but commanding.
Kai squinted, trying to make out the details. The person wore a black suit with a large S emblazoned on their chest. They had dark hair, a confident stance, and eyes that gleamed with an unsettling intensity.
"Who are you?" Kai asked, his voice cautious, yet resolute. "And where am I?"
The figure smiled, but it wasn't a friendly smile. "I am Superman. And you're in Metropolis, a city on Earth in the DC Universe."
Kai felt a deep sense of recognition flood through him. This was the iconic hero from this world—the one who had, no doubt, become a symbol of hope. He had heard of Superman, of his legendary powers and invincible status.
But what did it mean for Kai? Would this hero be his ally or his enemy? Could he trust Superman, a being with powers that rivaled his own, to guide him in this strange new world?
"You're far from home, kid," Superman said, stepping forward. "And you're going to need help if you want to survive here."
Kai clenched his fists, his fire flickering at the edges of his control. "I don't need help," he said defiantly. "I'll find my way. I'm not just any kid. I'm the son of Odin."
Superman's gaze softened. "Odin, huh? I think we need to talk, because this world is filled with enemies that even gods can't stop."
