Chapter 602: Repay Me With Your Body

“Are you alright?” Allie asked, her voice full of concern as she stayed in place. She wouldn’t act recklessly until she understood what was happening.
“I think I’m fine,” Yaeger replied, though she sounded uncertain.
“What do you mean, you ‘think’ you’re fine? Are you or aren’t you? Be clear!” Allie demanded anxiously.
“I’m not sure. Give me a second,” Yaeger said, waving her hand as she opened her game interface to check her Talent updates.
[Devourer] Passive AbilitiesDescription | A manifestation of Gluttony in human form, enabling the user to devour anything to enhance their strength. |
Note | Energy absorbed cannot exceed three times the user’s maximum energy capacity; excess energy will not be absorbed. |
Cooldown | 8 hours |
[Automatic Energy Absorption] | Continuously absorbs ambient energy to enhance strength. |
[Devouring Assimilation] (new) | When attacked, there is a chance to absorb the properties and effects of the attack, allowing the user to strengthen and develop resistance to it. |
“The cooldown for [Devourer] is down by four hours, and its potency has doubled again. This is incredible! I can’t believe an Innate Skill can evolve like this!”
She checked her passive ability, [Automatic Energy Absorption]. Nothing seemed different, yet she could clearly feel her energy absorption rate had drastically improved.
‘Passive leveling isn’t a dream anymore!'
It was still slower than traditional leveling, of course, but it would make a great supplementary boost. Yaeger nodded in satisfaction. Next, she examined her newly gained passive ability:
[Devouring Assimilation]: When attacked, there is a chance to absorb the properties and effects of the attack, strengthening yourself and even building resistance against it. Yaeger’s eyes widened in shock as she read the description. ‘This… This ability is insane! If I just keep taking hits, wouldn’t I eventually become invincible? Although… I’m not exactly looking to get beaten up!'Closing the interface, Yaeger calmed her excitement and focused on assessing her body’s condition. Now, she felt only a pure, steady flow of energy within her. ‘Has it already been purified? Perfect.'
Without hesitation, she absorbed the remaining energy. Her strength increased noticeably in an instant.
‘Unfortunately, I’m still a ways off from reaching the third stage.' With a quiet sigh, she turned to the worried Allie and said, “It’s done. The virus is completely absorbed.”
“You nearly scared me to death!” Allie said, rolling her eyes as she stepped closer. Her worry melted away, replaced by relief.
Allie felt a rush of indescribable emotions. It might have been gratitude, affection, respect, or something else… Whatever it was, her feelings were complex and overwhelming.
Just as Yaeger was about to speak, a sudden system notification interrupted her.
Ding! Allie’s Favorability towards you has increased by 5,000 points.
Ding! …
The notifications kept chiming until Allie’s relationship level displayed as three question marks.
‘Three question marks again? What does that even mean?' Yaeger blinked, confused by the mysterious Favorability rating. ‘First Rosalina’s Favorability jumped to three question marks, and now Allie’s after the second treatment… I really can’t make sense of this.'
Shaking her head, Yaeger decided to let it go. In the end, increased Favorability could only be a good thing.
“So, Allie, how are you feeling now?” Yaeger asked.
“Me? I feel amazing! My body feels light and so comfortable!” Allie replied, her voice filled with joy.
“Great. The progress is better than I expected. Looks like you’ll be back to normal in no time.” Yaeger smiled.
“Yes. I really don’t know how to thank you enough for this.” Allie looked directly at Yaeger, her eyes flashing with a hint of red.
“Repay me with your body.” Yaeger meant she needed more manpower for her rebellion.
Allie’s mind went blank as her heart pounded wildly, and her face flushed a deep red. ‘Isn’t that a bit too direct? But… I like it!'
“It’s… it’s not like you can’t have my body…” Allie stammered, biting her lip as she gathered her courage.
“Perfect. When the time comes, we’ll storm the palace together,” Yaeger replied.
“Huh? Why are we barging into the palace?” Allie asked, tilting her head in confusion.
“If we don’t go to the palace during the rebellion, then where else?” Yaeger asked, frowning slightly.
Allie suddenly realized her misunderstanding, and embarrassment flooded over her. ‘What a tease! She used such confusing words on purpose!' Allie rolled her eyes in exasperation.
Yaeger simply blinked, looking confused.
“Let’s change the topic.” Since Allie had already agreed, there was no need to continue discussing it. Yaeger quickly redirected the conversation. “Let me check your body again.”
Yaeger was intrigued by the abnormal energy within Allie’s body. She felt an urge to draw it out, absorb it into herself, and give it all the attention it deserved. But…
“Clever. It’s hidden within multiple viruses,” Yaeger muttered after a thorough analysis, feeling a mix of admiration and frustration. It was clear that the abnormal energies were actively hiding from her.
“So, what’s actually going on?” Allie asked, looking puzzled.
“I think I have an idea of how to deal with the residual spatial storm energy in your body. But…”
Before Yaeger could finish, Allie grabbed her shoulders excitedly. “Really?”
“Calm down—I’m not finished,” Yaeger said, gently brushing Allie’s hands off and rubbing her shoulders, which stung a bit from the sudden grip.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to,” Allie said, retracting her hands in embarrassment.
“It’s alright, I get it.” Yaeger patted Allie’s head and continued, “I recently realized that using the same treatment method won’t work. Even if we eliminate the virus completely, that residual energy won’t just disappear. The main challenge in this treatment is purifying that energy. Luckily, my little mishap earlier gave me a way to solve it.”
Yaeger paused, watching Allie’s reaction. Allie had calmed down, her expression now composed and unreadable.
“The current problem is that this energy is hiding within the other viruses in your body. I need to extract all the viruses so it has nowhere left to hide,” Yaeger explained.
“So, does that mean we still need a few more treatment sessions?” Allie asked.
Yaeger nodded. “If all goes well, we’ll only need three more sessions.”
If not for her new passive ability from [Devourer], Yaeger would have been powerless against this energy. ‘My medical skills still aren’t quite enough,’ she thought.
“That’s fantastic!” Allie exclaimed excitedly. Without hesitation, Allie lunged forward, wrapping Yaeger in a tight hug. “I’m finally going to be normal again soon!” The joy and relief in her voice were unmistakable.
It took fifteen minutes for Allie to calm down completely.
“Allie, you’re free later, right?” Yaeger asked as she sat on the bed.
“I am. Why?” Allie replied, sitting beside her with a smile.
“Good. I’d like you to help me test an ability,” Yaeger said, standing up.
The ability she wanted to test was, of course, [Devouring Assimilation].
