Rebirth to the Eighties to Get Rich

Chapter 284: Guqin

The current salary of 50 yuan a month was really too high. Even someone like Ji Jianhe believed that this salary was extremely high.

Although there were a lot of things to do, the pay was definitely worth it.

Prices have risen. But no matter how much things rise, the most the villagers could spend was ten or twenty yuan a month.

There weren’t many places to spend money anyways.

With such a high salary, a lot could be saved in one month. So wouldn’t many people be eyeing this job?

His father and brother were also working there. Their total monthly income was 150. It was a significant amount of money.

Many people were envious of his family. If he was fired, someone else would replace him in a minute.

But the most unhappy person about this was Aunt Li, who was so envious.

If they were all still living together, such a large amount of money would have to be controlled by her alone.

150 yuan a month was a path to prosperity.

But now Aunt Li’s husband only gave 20 yuan a month. As for her two sons, the eldest son occasionally sent some food home, but not money and the second son gave nothing.

He did not send any money, and did not send anything else.

The reason for this was Su Juan, who couldn't stand Aunt Li. Su Juan refused to give her anything, not even a cent. And so, Aunt Li got nothing.

She went to her son last time to ask for support!

But what did her son say? That 20 yuan a month was not enough for her? Also, he told her to speak ill of his wife.

Aunt Li was so angry. Was this her biological son? What was this?

Of course she would say bad things about Su Juan. This second daughter-in-law has infuriated her. She was blind to think that she was good before. Look at her now. She even took her son away and relied on her son to support her. The daughter-in-law spent all day looking after a worthless daughter.

Last year, Su Juan gave birth to a daughter. She was very precious, but there was no doubt that Aunt Li was dissatisfied with this. She was just as worthless as her oldest son’s wife!

In addition to not giving Aunt Li anything, she was too lazy to cook. Thus, Aunt Li often went out to gossip that her daughter-in-law was unfilial. It’s almost as if she’s trying to be cruel.

One of Su Juan's sisters came over to tell her about the gossip, which naturally made Su Juan even more angry.

As a result, the relationship became even more rigid.

These things were local village matters. Generally speaking, everyone in the village could see that Ji Jianhe and his eldest brother, Ji Jianchuan ,were living a better life now.

With a monthly salary of 50 yuan, they could still live a good life even if they quit working in the fields.

Ji Jianhe wasn’t working in the fields, but his brother was still working there. His sister-in-law was also a good worker. Although she didn’t talk much, she takes good care of the home and outside tasks.

One day, Su Juan came over with her daughter in her arms and a girl from her maternal family. The girl was five years old and came to help take care of her child.

This was normal. After all, the two families were very close relatives, and Su Juan and this girl were from the same village.

“Hongying and Renren are really close in age.” Su Juan remarked.

Su Danhong didn't think too much about this statement at first and said, “Yes, they are quite close in age.” They were only half a year apart.

“Sister Danhong, what do you think of Hongying?” Su Juan smiled.

Su Danhong said, “Hongying is quite well-behaved.” But she was just a little dull.

“How about she become your daughter-in-law?” Su Juan asked happily.

Su Danhong almost spat out the snack she took a bite of. Seeing that Su Juan was serious, she smiled and said, “Renren is still young. It's too early to talk about this.”

“It's not too early. They are young now, but they will grow in the blink of an eye,” Su Juan said.

Su Danhong smiled. “I have requirements for my daughter-in-law.”

“What requirements?” Su Juan asked.

Su Danhong didn’t really want to be excessive, but she still has to tell the truth. “No matter what, they have to graduate from college. In the future, I will educate my sons to go to college. They will not follow their father to farm and plant fruit trees. When birds grow up, they have to fly outside, right?”

“Well, the daughter-in-law should be filial, right?” Su Juan said hurriedly.

“I don’t expect that. When the time comes, Jianyun and I will live our own lives. If we can't manage ourselves, then we will hire someone to take care of us. As for my sons and daughter-in-law, I’ll let them live their lives. Hongying is a good little girl. You should ask your maternal family to send her to school. Maybe there will be a chance for us to become an in-law in the future?” Su Danhong smiled.

Given the Su family situation, it was unlikely that Su Hongying would go to school. But Su Danhong gave her future a glimmer of hope. Attending school for a few years would be good for a little girl like her.

As for Su Hongying and her son were fate, she couldn’t say. What if Renren liked someone else in the future?

There was nothing absolute.

Su Juan was satisfied with her words. It was good enough if she didn't refuse openly. When Su Hongying was about to go back, Su Danhong grabbed a handful of White Rabbit candy for her. “If you can study, study hard. In the future, you will find a good job.”

“Thank your aunt quickly,” Su Juan urged.

“Thank you, Aunt.” Su Hongying nodded. She looked at the White Rabbit candy in her hand, with obvious joy in her eyes.

Many years later, when Su Hongying married and moved to the county town, she would occasionally think of the first White Rabbit candy she ate.

When Ji Jianyun came back, Su Danhong told him about this matter as a joke. Ji Jianyun didn't care. How old was his eldest son?

And he didn’t plan to arrange any marriages. His son could choose whoever he liked in the future, and he, his father, wouldn't interfere.

“Boss, we're back!” Xu Heshan and Su Zhumao’s voices came from outside the door.

“The door is unlocked. Come in by yourself,” Ji Jianyun said.

Xu Heshan and Su Zhumao came in together.

With Ji Jianyun there, Da Hei would not care. When Ji Jianyun was not around, other adult men could not enter the house at all.

Even when Li Zhi came over, he had to speak from outside the door. Dahei would never allow other men to come in.

But at this moment, Da Hei didn’t care since its master was present.

Xu Heshan and Su Zhumao came in carrying a guqin. When Su Danhong came out of the kitchen, she was stunned when she saw the guqin.

“Where did you get the guqin?” Su Danhong looked at Ji Jianyun.

“”You mentioned that you liked it, so I asked them to search for one around the college town. I was too busy a while ago, but now that I have some free time, I bought it.” Ji Jianyun looked at his wife with a smile.

“The quality of this guqin is really good.” Su Danhong touched the guqin and plucked the strings with her hands. She only did it a few times and the loud and sweet sound of the guqin stunned the three men present.

“The boss’s wife is so amazing, she can even play the guqin!” Xu Heshan and Su Zhumao were so impressed. An expert’s skills were evident and it was obvious that the boss lady was an expert. Just a few plucks of the strings produced such a beautiful sound.

Ji Jianyun came back to his senses and said to the two of them, “It's getting late now, you two should go back first.”
