Chapter 134: Ghost Mountain
"How do I show this?" Bian looked distressed while observing a small chunk of a red crystal, the size of a bean.
The red crystal was a fragment of his heart, which broke off when he fought against God's Retribution.
It was like a perfect jade diamond, and Bian wished to shape it into one, but had no means of performing such precise cuts on a material so hard.
"I have to wait till I'm back in the alliance."
...
Two weeks had passed since their fight with God's Retribution. Bian had mostly recovered from the battle, unlocking his ninth self-gene lock and the seventh gene lock of the Dongxuan Sutra.
They had not encountered any Super creatures yet, so his fitness remained stagnant.
Hope Spirit—or rather, Hope Empress—had finished her evolution. She became an Emperor-class spirit with ten gene locks opened.
She was a very skilled fighter, but her powers weren't tailored for combat. Instead, she could speed up the metabolism of plants by a factor of one hundred.
Multiplied by the life droplets which were produced by Bian, a literal hack was formed.
The elemental seed which he had bought became a full-fledged tree just the other day. A geno seed which was supposed to take a thousand years to mature was fully grown in less than a year.
Bian speculated that with Hope Empress' current powers, he could grow another elemental seed in three weeks. That was how efficiently their powers worked together.
The chance of receiving a super element was low, which would make this geno plant a gamble for everybody, except Bian.
Using the Empirical Will, Bian gained six super element armaments in the form of light which settled in his chest.
These elemental armaments were not integrated into his body but remained separate powers which he could utilize at will to enhance his own attacks.
The six elements included the basic four of: Fire, Lightning, Ice, and Wind.
Then he had an erratic additional two: Green Petrification Flames and Blue Suppression.
The Green Petrification Flames were absorbed from Varkal, while the Blue Suppression was absorbed from a boxing shrimp he had fought in the ocean.
Han Yan and Man Tian had great success in their hunts, but their prey would always be too huge to consume.
They liberated five shelters from spirits, and several of them had seen Han Yan using the Falsified-Sky Sutra.
Among the shelters they liberated, several geno trees were gathered which had a variety of effects.
The most useful for them were those used for increasing mutant gene points and increasing sacred gene points.
With Hope Empress aboard, the fruits were ready to be eaten days later, allowing Man Tian to max out all his geno points while Han Yan needed just three super geno points to be maxed out entirely.
With such a drastic increase in strength, they all needed to spend some time adjusting to their new powers. During this period of consolidation, they kept training but avoided hunting for a while.
Bian was engaged in extreme stretches, marveling at the recovery of his body. Several dark marks were seen all over his body like cracks. Every injury sustained by his Jadebody was fatal and thus not easy to completely recover from without leaving behind scars.
"Finally back to peak health and just in time." Bian finished his stretches, looking at the ominous shadow of an unrealistically large mountain in the distance.
It would take several months to traverse on foot, but they had a colossal walking shelter, so the time spent would be greatly reduced.
If all went well.
"Where are the enemies?" Xie Qing King said while shadowboxing. After unlocking his tenth gene lock and becoming an emperor, he was eager to test his newfound strength.
"No fighting, at least not yet. Most of these creatures are going to be friendly because we have a companion here."
Bian would rather things went violently than peacefully. It would give him and his friends enough life essence to max out their super gene points.
Sadly, he couldn't just initiate uncalled-for bloodshed on the friends of the silver fox just for benefits. Could he?
"We just have to find another way of increasing our strength."
The shelter had been walking through the thick forestry on the Ghost Mountain for some hours now.
Up ahead, they could spot some figures walking through the forest. About two hundred of them, most injured and bloody.
Those figures were most definitely human and spotted the colossal shelter once it got closer to them.
Bian and his crew had fitness equaling that of super creatures, if not greater than most. It only made sense that they spotted the humans first. Not to mention, the shelter had turned invisible in the forest.
"People..." Bian released a sigh.
They had scurried between the trees, spreading out and avoiding the path of the shelter.
...
"No! Why did it suddenly stop now?" An injured figure groaned.
"Let's spread out and run in different directions while we still have the chance," a figure said in a shaky voice.
"And leave the injured for whatever this thing is?" a young woman accused him.
"Stop fighting, now isn't the time to—" Just as the leader was speaking, he saw three figures land on the forest ground.
Three human-sized crows which were on fire devastated the ground with their landing. The fiery eyes of the crow in the middle settled on him.
"It's over, it's all over. Those creatures are strong enough to hunt down every single person here," he thought in despair.
Although he knew it was futile, he was ready to command the people to flee in separate directions. That should at least increase their chances of survival.
Just as he was about to yell, he saw the three figures morph into humans. Not humanoid creatures or spirits but actual humans.
"Had I been so paranoid that I mistook a person for a creature?" the man thought, but upon closer inspection, he felt that these people might be even more dangerous than stray beasts.
"What happened to you, who is the leader?" Bian asked, looking at the group of two hundred.
They were cleverly hidden between the bushes and behind the trees, but such tricks were useless before the Dongxuan Aura.
Slowly, the leader who had been speaking before walked forward. He sized Bian up for a moment, then responded.
"You can call me Uncle San. We came here from God Wind Shelter after it was destroyed." Uncle San gazed at Han Yan and Man Tian, both by Bian's side. He wondered who they were.
"Uncle San, since you and your comrades chose to flee from the shelter rather than evacuate to the alliance, it means you haven't given up on growing stronger. Am I right?"
"Of course! Those damn Shura think they can just attack us without any repercussions. When I increase my strength, I'm going back to the front lines to show them hell!" Suddenly reminded of why he chose this hellish path, Uncle San spoke with renewed vigor.
Bian felt the weight behind the man's words, and his conviction moved him. Those who fought for the weak were never weak, and Bian would make sure of that.
'Even I'm going after Executioner Green, who is part of the blame for the war. When I'm done with her, the Shura are next.'
Howl!
An ominous wolf howl resounded in the distance. Clearly, some predators had picked up on the scent of the bloodied individuals and was coming to pay them a visit.
"Ah! Trouble is afoot. How can I address you?" Uncle San asked.
"I am Bian. This is Han Yan and Man Tian. There isn't much time to talk. Let's head up to the shelter." Bian signaled for them to follow him to the foot of the shelter.
The walking shelter was a massive construct which could be seen from far away, but it had an advantage in forest regions. It could turn invisible, sparing the group unnecessary stress and troubles.
Still, now that it was up close and personal, everyone could see the magnificent shelter. It was why Uncle San was reluctant to climb the shelter.
What if Bian and his friends were leading them to a trap set by a spirit? It would definitely explain why they were so strong in this wretched place.
Another reason Uncle San was cautious was because of Bian himself. Bian was pale, even more white than a jade beauty, yet his body was covered with cracks.
He looked like a porcelain or ceramic product, which had been cracked. This uncanny look unnerved Uncle San quite a bit.
Bian sensed his doubts, but there wasn't much he could do to relieve them. The first of their guests were here.
A pack of lightning wolves was scurrying through the trees, aiming for the injured individuals.
"Uncle San, I think I've heard of this guy. I can't be sure since most of it is confidential, but Bian is the name of the founder of the most popular music company in the alliance." Lin Weiwei said in a hurry, hoping to convince Uncle San.
She was one of the strongest suppressors here, second only to Uncle San. He knew how valuable her insights were.
"But a music company? It doesn't mean he is strong. We might stand a better chance if we all stood our ground and fought than letting the wolves pick us off as we climbed." Uncle San couldn't just put the lives of his men at stake by trusting Bian.
He had seen their powerful transformations and would decide what to do after they dealt with the initial pack of wolves. One of which sprinted through the bushes and leaped at them.
