Rebirth as a Time Dragon: A DND Chronicle

Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Land of Fire, Resting Place of the Stormlord

"Have you heard? The Dragon God of the Dragon Clan, the Dragon of Eternity and Time, has died in the Beastland."

"How could I not have heard?"

"Even the Glorious Forest of the Beastland was destroyed by the war between the dragons and giants. The war between these two races is terrifying. So far, four gods have perished, and the beast lords who tried to fish in troubled waters have also been wiped out."

"The dragons are truly fierce, chasing into the Beastland and killing the participating beast lords without hesitation. Even the assembly of almost all the giant gods couldn't stop them."

"The Dragon of Eternity and Time rose like a meteor and fell just as quickly."

"They are gods; death doesn't mean they can't be resurrected. Moreover, they took the Cloud Giant God and the Wolf Lord with them. With the impression they left in the hearts of true dragons, they cannot truly die."

Nowadays, almost all intelligent species across the endless planes of existence are focused on the war between the dragons and giants. Every move by these two races affects countless tense nerves.

Naturally, the general course of the Beastland War, which involved almost all the gods' combat power, spread through various channels.

Even those who didn't get the news sensed something was wrong.

With the destruction of the Glorious Forest, countless beast lords died.

When the beast lords died, the corresponding beast species in the endless worlds didn't go extinct but became uncontrollably frenzied, causing terrifying beast disasters on many continents and planets, resulting in large-scale casualties.

The specific fates of the four beast lords are now widely known.

The Wolf, Snake, and Fox lords were all killed by the Dragon God directly.

The weakest, the Chicken Lord, was the luckiest. They escaped because they were in the Forest of Dawn, protected by the Fire Giant God, Surtr.

However, the Chicken Lord didn't survive long.

Their luck saved them from the Beastland War, but before they could rejoice, they were torn apart by an enraged Beastlord, leaving no bones behind.

In this war between dragons and giants, the Cloud Giant God and four cooperating beast lords died. The Dragon God of Eternity and Time also fell. It seems like the giant gods suffered more, but all gods know that killing the Dragon God of Eternity and Time, given their unique status, means the giant gods didn't really lose out.

The biggest loser in this divine war was the innocent Beastlord.

The Beastland was collateral damage; an entire layer was destroyed. To protect the other two layers of the Beastland, the Beastlord forcibly separated the Glorious Forest from the Beastland, equivalent to cutting off their arm, suffering heavy damage.

The Beastlord's anger is imaginable.

And the root of all this was the four foolish beast lords who tried to gain benefits from the dragon-giant war. The Chicken Lord, who survived by chance, bore the brunt of the Beastlord's fury.

Later, the Beastlord made it clear: from now on, any giant or dragon gods stepping into the Beastland would be considered provocations and face the full wrath of the Beastlord.

However, this declaration seemed somewhat powerless.

The Stormlord was the main culprit behind the destruction of the Glorious Forest. Both dragon and giant gods had invaded the Beastland. The destruction of the Glorious Forest was inseparable from both races, so both faced the Beastlord's hostility. Unfortunately, the Beastlord couldn't really provoke either dragons or giants.

Moreover, the Stormlord's reputation plummeted and they were seen as an evil god.

The upper planes no longer welcomed the Stormlord.

The Stormlord's divine kingdom in the Glorious Forest moved out in time when the forest was destroyed, relocating to the Abyss instead of any upper planes. There, the Stormlord subdued demon lords and occupied an abyssal layer.

Destroying a planar world is something gods find hard to tolerate.

The Stormlord knew that no upper plane would welcome them anymore. While gods might fear their power and not dare to stop them, endless troubles would follow, so the Stormlord decisively moved to the Abyss.

The Abyss is almost infinitely accommodating; whether good or evil gods, it accepts anyone willing to come.

In the main material world, Noah Continent.

In the wild mountains filled with beasts, there is an estate where knights, maids, and serfs live. The estate's owner is a legendary spellcaster named Chrystens.

This spellcaster not only possesses legendary power but also has a life full of legendary experiences.

"Great-grandfather, did you really follow the Dragon of Time?"

In the manor's mansion, a boy sits on an old man's lap, pulling his white beard and curiously asking.

The old man wears a white robe inscribed with mysterious magical runes that flow gently, his white hair and youthful face showing a healthy complexion, and his eyes glowing with elemental light, full of a spellcaster's wisdom and mystery.

Faced with the boy's question, Chrystens would usually be happy to recount his experiences.

How he was saved by the young Dragon of Time, and how he became its follower.

But now, Chrystens felt a bit heavy-hearted.

He sent the boy outside to play and sat alone in the quiet hall, looking through the glass window at the blood-red sunset.

"Master, have you really fallen?"

Memories of following Garon flashed in Chrystens' mind.

He wasn't just a follower but also a witness to the Dragon of Time's growth from weakness to strength, stepping onto the world stage.

After leaving Garon, Chrystens realized how much he owed the true dragon.

He thought his life was ending and returned home to enjoy his last years, but to his surprise, time seemed to flow very slowly for him. His aging body seemed blessed by time, aging incredibly slowly.

As a spellcaster, he quickly figured out that staying with Garon for a long time had imbued him with some of Garon's aura.

Under this invisible blessing, Chrystens broke through to legendary status, becoming one of the few legendary spellcasters on the Noah Continent.

"Died in the Beastland. Beastland"

Chrystens murmured softly.

Hearing about the death of the Dragon of Eternity and Time stirred a feeling in Chrystens' heart, a desire to fight for the Dragon God.

He hadn't fought in a long time.

The Noah Continent is small, with few strong beings. As a legendary spellcaster, no one dared to trouble him. He had been resting for too long, seemingly forgetting the thrilling spell battles of the past.

"Yes, I wanted to retire and enjoy some peace in my last years."

"But after receiving the master's blessing and breaking through to legendary status, I can live for centuries more."

"Maybe it's time to leave the Noah Continent."

With that thought, Chrystens slowly stood up, his body glowing with magical light. His aged face seemed to reverse time, becoming youthful again, and his eyes shone with a different light.

Whoosh!

A fiery portal opened before Chrystens.

Another legendary spellcaster, Fred, had arrived.

These two had followed Garon together and become close friends after returning to the Noah Continent, understanding the Dragon God's blessing.

Fred also looked youthful again.

Seeing Chrystens, he paused and then smiled, "Chrystens, it seems you are ready too."

They left the Noah Continent and headed to the Kara planet, where Garon's followers mainly gathered.

Coincidentally, the Dragon God's followers on Kara were also agitated and angry after hearing about the Dragon God's fall.

In the main material world, Zeland Continent.

In a forest by the blue sea stands a giant city.

During wartime, the city's defenses extended dozens of miles, with fortified lines and hidden sentries.

Countless giant soldiers in armor, holding giant axes and swords, patrolled.

The Zeland Continent wasn't a noteworthy battlefield because the dragons and giants here weren't powerful, with no demigods and the strongest being legendary creatures.

The giant city, with its solid defenses, had repelled several dragon attacks.

Similarly, their assaults on dragon territories were also unsuccessful.

Without external interference, the dragons and giants might remain in a stalemate until the war's end.

Some off-duty giant soldiers started chatting.

"The great Stormlord fought three at once and didn't fall behind, even killing the Time Dragon who shone in the Glory War."

"With the Stormlord leading us, we giants will surely win this war."

The giants' internal news about the Beastland War differed due to divine propaganda, boosting their morale.

Among the dragons, the story was that the Stormlord, unable to defeat the Dragon God, destroyed the Glorious Forest to escape and used great power to attack Garon, leading to their fall. Garon, in their final moments, took down an equally powerful giant god and the Wolf Lord.

Among the giants, the story was the Stormlord fought three at once, killing the Time Dragon and showing their might.

Destroying the Glorious Forest and causing countless deaths didn't bother the brutal giants, who took pride in the Stormlord's power.

"Yes, with the main god, we can't lose."

The giant soldiers, fueled by divine propaganda, were hopeful for the future.

Suddenly, the drifting clouds in the sky stilled, space rippled like water, and intense magical energy gathered.

The giants sensed the powerful magic and tensed up.

Portals opened in the sky.

Hundreds of figures emerged, surrounded by terrifying fire elemental energy, looking down at the giant city.

These spellcasters, male and female, were all high-level, with dozens being legendary.

Their appearance made the fire elemental energy in the sky turbulent, turning it a deep red, like an apocalyptic scene.

"The

space anchor is broken; powerful spellcasters are here."

The giant city's space was sealed, preventing ordinary portals.

Chrystens exhaled, retreating behind the other spellcasters.

As a conjurer, he had traveled different worlds using portals since reaching seven rings. His task here was to break the giant city's space anchor and open the portal. The rest was up to the Alpha Clan's fire mages.

"They're not dragons."

"Who are you! Invading our giant territory."

A legendary giant roared.

No one responded.

The fire mages began their ritual, chanting and resonating their magic.

The giants launched an attack, but the powerful magical barriers held firm.

As the ritual continued, a terrifying fireball appeared in the sky, outshining the distant sun and radiating a destructive aura.

The spell completed.

The next moment, the fireball plummeted towards the giant city.

Boom!

Endless light and heat exploded, destroying everything in its path, consuming the land.

The giant city's magical barriers shattered like eggshells. In the blinding light, with cries of despair, the land around the giant city for hundreds of kilometers was obliterated, leaving a deep crater with crystallized soil and rock at the bottom.

The giant city was gone, vaporized.

The sky cleared, revealing a cloudless blue.

The spellcasters had vanished.

They left through the portal as the fireball fell.

And this was just the beginning.

More giant forces in different worlds were attacked by spellcaster squads.

These high-quality strike teams, composed entirely of spellcasters, the weakest being high-level and the strongest legendary, hit their targets swiftly and moved on.

They determined their target, teleported in, cast their spells, and left, never staying long in any world.

Though they only targeted weaker forces, their cumulative success was significant.

Garon's Alpha followers, nurtured for a long time, were finally showing their true power.

In the Dragon Court plane, the silver dragon slowly opened its eyes, revealing a glint.

After a period of rest, Garon was full of energy and knew everything that had happened recently, including the subtle shifts in the war's dynamics.

With a thought, a god crystal appeared before Garon.

"With Garon's death, the god crystal automatically transferred to me."

Gazing at the crystal, Garon sensed the residual will and divinity of the god Garon. Under his gaze, it trembled slightly.

"Don't worry, resurrecting you isn't difficult."

Garon smiled and put away the god crystal.

He then considered the current situation.

After the Beastland War, the 'main body' was considered dead, leaving only this 'avatar', the Lord of the Dragon Court, aiming to avenge himself. The Alpha Clan, having developed for a long time on the Kara Continent, joined the chaotic battle as the Dragon God's followers.

"The fire mages are doing well, but on the grand battlefield, they're just a drop in the ocean, insignificant."

"They need to grow to the level of the Alpha Empire of old to be truly noteworthy."

"But they have been resting too long; they do need the tempering of war."

Garon also noted Chrystens and Fred.

These two had become legendary and re-sworn as his followers, which surprised Garon.

"Because of my death, they want revenge for me?"

"It seems I am a leader worth following, haha."

Garon's ego swelled a bit, and he turned over, a smug expression on his dragon face.

Aside from that, the intense Beastland War heavily exhausted both sides. Subsequently, the giant and dragon gods did not engage in any more battles. The gods fell into a strange calm.

In contrast, due to Garon's death, the dragon's people went mad with vengeful bloodlust, making the non-divine war more intense, with countless dragons and giants dying in the relentless grind of war.

But this wouldn't last long.

"With Garon's death, my avatar, the Saint of the Dragon Court, should theoretically weaken significantly."

"Yes, I shouldn't act recklessly to avoid being discovered by the giant gods."

Garon decided to stay behind the scenes, keeping a low profile and waiting for the right moment.

As time passed, the endless worlds were turbulent.

The war between dragons and giants grew fiercer.

With the gods recuperating and rarely descending avatars, many exceptional individuals shone in the war, becoming the talk of spectators.

For instance, a high-level legendary red dragon fighting a demigod giant without falling behind, nicknamed 'Mountain of Wrath', was extremely huge, even surpassing a demigod red dragon.

Then, the 'Black King', an ancient obsidian dragon who fought four and killed a demigod.

There was also the 'Vicious Snake', a frost forest serpent dragon who skinned and dismembered all enemies cruelly, feared even by evil dragons.

Diamonds are polished with diamonds.

Similarly, outstanding individuals emerged among the giants, confronting the best of the dragons.

In the furnace of war, both sides suffered heavy casualties, but as the war grew fiercer, their potential was deeply tapped, and powerful dragons and giants appeared like mushrooms after rain.

During this period, the Fire Giant God, persuaded by the Stormlord, brought out the military supplies prepared since the Dragonfall War, strengthening giant armies and causing trouble for the dragons.

Thus, five years passed.

The war between dragons and giants lasted over ten years, with countless lives lost and endless bloodshed.

Meanwhile, the gods had fully recovered, watched the war for a long time, and grew restless.

The Stormlord struck first, leading several giant gods to assault the god kingdom of the Ruby Dragon God, Sadiwo.

The Ruby Dragon God's kingdom, built in the Elemental Sea between worlds, was hard to locate but somehow found by the Stormlord.

Caught off guard, the Ruby Dragon God's kingdom was breached. Despite the divine kingdom's amplification, three of their five quasi-god ancient dragons died, and they were gravely injured.

If not for timely reinforcements, the Ruby Dragon God would have been in danger.

After this battle, divine wars reignited, more intense than before, with gods daring to assault each other's kingdoms. The divine kingdoms were no longer safe, keeping the gods on high alert.

In the thirteenth year of the war.

The Stormlord attacked and broke the Wealth Dragon God's kingdom. Before the dragon gods arrived, the Wealth Dragon fell.

In the eighteenth year of the war.

The Night Dragon Farazul's kingdom was breached, and they fell similarly, killed by the Stormlord.

In the twentieth year of the war.

The Destruction Dragon God Karisk was wounded, and their kingdom was severely damaged.

Two dragon gods killed, two dragon gods injured—these were the results of the giant gods.

The dragon gods didn't sit idly; they killed the Sub-Giant God and gravely injured the Hill Giant God, though causing less damage than the giants.

In total, three dragon gods and three orthodox giant gods died, along with other lesser gods like the Gnoll God and beast lords—a level of intensity surpassing the Glory War.

The casualties were almost equal, and the dragon gods' earlier advantage vanished.

The Stormlord grew increasingly rampant, attacking the dragon gods more frequently.

In this situation, in a temporarily created subspace, the dragon gods projected their wills, including Garon's true form, to plan their next move.

"With Garon's confirmed death, the Stormlord has grown bolder, attacking our gods."

"We can't remain passive."

The Metallic Dragon God spoke slowly, their eyes shining.

"Indeed, we can't stay on the defensive."

"To kill the Stormlord, we need to control the pace, taking the initiative."

The Immortal Dragon Queen glanced at Garon and calmly said, "After recent clashes, the Stormlord's confidence has grown. Their vigilance is clearly weakening."

"It's time to make the Stormlord pay."

The current advantage of the giant gods relied on the Stormlord. If the Stormlord died, the giant gods would collapse instantly. Thus, the Metallic Dragon God and the Immortal Dragon Queen weren't too concerned about the current disadvantage.

"Garon, are you ready?"

"The Stormlord's life will end by your hand."

Garon nodded solemnly.

"The Fire Giant God is continuously producing military supplies, arming the giant armies, which is a significant problem."

"Next, let's descend on Yoshuan's Land of Fire and give the Stormlord a surprise, making it their resting place."

The dragon gods agreed, targeting the Fire Giant God's kingdom.
