Chapter 22 - Snake Rider(Ouja)
“Roar—”
Then, under that strange force, it was twisted and kneaded together like clay.
Finally, it took on its final form—
A black spider monster over three meters tall, with a spider’s head and numerous appendages growing from its back.
Now, its level of danger was far greater than before.
You can feel it from its much more terrifying aura…
“In some cases… compressing negative beasts into smaller forms for combat is often more advantageous than larger forms…”
“Because this way, they become more agile… and can better exert their power…”
“So—What will you do?”
“Magical girl, Blue Night.”
“Jibber-jabber, you beast sure talk a lot of crap!”
Bai Yu was not intimidated by this. Although it was indeed her first encounter with such a situation, it wasn’t enough to make her afraid.
No matter what monstrosity they had become, as long as they were still living beings and negative beasts—
She would eliminate them all.
“Roar!”
Amid her thoughts, the giant spider—no, now it was more accurate to call it a spider monster—started to mimic a certain failed man’s(Spiderman) attempt at swinging webs. It grabbed onto a nearby building and swung toward her from the side.
(TL: It’s a meme, 失败的man in pinyin is shi bai de man)
“Boom!”
It kicked out towards Bai Yu’s chest, but it missed, passing through her body and smashing into the ground, creating a large crater.
However, this time, it didn’t panic like before when it hadn’t fused. Instead, it quickly turned around and shot a stream of spider webs towards Bai Yu!
The speed was so fast it was almost impossible for anyone to react!
But…
“I can react to your webs, you beast.”
Even though the spider monster had done its best, Bai Yu effortlessly evaded its attack by liquifying.
Afterward, without hesitation, she unleashed a burst of power from her legs and instantly closed the distance to its front.
“Boom!”
She delivered a powerful punch to the spider monster’s face, sending it flying again.
Then, she extended her left hand, and a blue glow emanated from her palm…
A massive water column surged from her hand, hurtling toward the spider monster.
“Boom!”
Once it enveloped the spider monster, the giant water column transformed into a massive hand, firmly gripping it and pressing it into the ground.
“Turns out it’s not any stronger than before.”
Looking at the spider monster now under her control, Bai Yu thought.
However, just as she was about to deliver the final blow—
A black sphere suddenly flew above the spider monster and exploded.
“!!”
“Boom!!”
The black sphere erupted a red light, instantly evaporating the water column. What followed was an incredibly intense black flame burning from the monster itself.
Feeling the sudden surge in temperature around her, Bai Yu was startled and didn’t hesitate for a moment, instantly distancing herself from the spider monster.
When she moved away from the spider monster, the black sphere vanished.
Which meant that the monster had completed its evolution.
“In an instant… the tide of battle was turned.”
Watching the spider monster and Bai Yu, the humanoid creature floating in the sky murmured.
“When your proud liquefaction ability fails…”
“Can you still achieve victory, Blue Night?”
“It’s like this again…”
Looking at the creature in the sky, Bai Yu gritted her teeth in frustration.
The reason she had never defeated them before was precisely because of this.
These cadres always had a variety of abilities to restrict and counter her liquefaction form. She had tried countermeasures before, but they yielded little success.
Although she had recently found ways that might work, the risks were still too great.
Does she really have to take such a risk now…
“…”
Glancing up at the humanoid creature flying in the sky, Bai Yu took a deep breath to calm herself.
In any case, now is not the time.
Her trump card shouldn’t be used at this time.
But the enemy wasn’t going to wait for her to decide—
“Go.”
“Roar!”
At the command from the humanoid creature, the spider monster, engulfed in flames, charged toward her.
As it ran, it shot out webs covered in black flames. Any ordinary person caught by these flames would be either killed or severely injured.
“Tsk!”
Knowing that her liquefaction form might be ineffective, Bai Yu frowned. She summoned her mana, creating three sharp ice spikes around her body.
Her mana empowered these ice spikes so they wouldn’t melt right away. But if the battle dragged on, they would eventually disappear.
So, she had to find a way to deal with it again during this clash.
Or just kill it.
“Whoosh!”
As the spider monster closed in, Bai Yu directed the three ice spikes, sending them flying toward various parts of its body—its head, chest, and knees.
The ice spikes pierced all these areas!
Yet, despite this, the spider monster continued its advance, trying to attack Bai Yu!
Logically, after being injured in these vital areas, even if their vitality was strong enough to prevent death, it was impossible that it wouldn’t react at all!
Unless—
During its “evolutionary transformation” of the spider monster, the black sphere had eliminated its sense of pain!
Therefore, without the sense of pain, it was naturally fearless and unstoppable, resorting to suicidal attacks against Bai Yu!
However… it wasn’t entirely unsolvable.
Once the flames on the spider monster burned out, it shouldn’t be far from death.
But could she hold out until then?
With the monster’s reckless, suicidal assault, just dealing with it was already a challenge.
…
No, she had to tough it out!
After holding on for more than five minutes, she thought to herself.
If she fell, everything would be over.
If she fell, all of her efforts and achievements so far would all come to nothing.
So… she couldn’t fall! Absolutely not!
At the very least… not now!
“Huff… huff…”
“…!!”
However, it was as if the heavens were playing a cruel trick on her. In one moment of fending off the spider monster’s attacks, one of the ice spikes was burned through by the flames—
Then, the flames surged through the opening and struck her.
“Ugh!”
After being knocked away by this flame, the three ice spikes also shattered. Bai Yu gritted her teeth through the pain and began using her powers to mend her wounds.
After the intense battle, her consciousness was becoming blurry. Though she could still fight, the effect would definitely not be good.
Recreating ice spikes like the ones before… is impossible now.
Is she really going to fall here…
“Whoosh—Boom!”
Before she could fully contemplate, a sound as terrifying as a cannonball suddenly erupted from above.
Everyone, including the humanoid creature, looked up in unison.
However, before they could make out what was happening, the source of the sound had already crashed to the ground, sending up a cloud of smoke.
“Whew…”
As the smoke cleared…
What appeared before them was a humanoid figure… an armored person?
Or rather, a monster(Kaijin)—a humanoid armored creature with a design that echoed serpentine elements, its black and white armor interwoven in a striking pattern.
It stood before them like those riders from a tokusatsu series.
“…An unexpected turn of events… who are you?”
After a moment of shock, the humanoid creature asked.
The armored figure responded with two words—
“Snake Rider(Ouja).”
(TL: Snake Rider sounds too cringe. I think I’ll use Ouja since it sounds cooler.)
