Quirkless Hero

Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Forest Training Camp – Quirk Training

"I'm so sleepy~~"

Early in the morning, Class 1-A gathered with sleepy faces, most of them yawning. After an exhausting day of battles yesterday, waking up so early today felt like pure torture.

Aizawa Shouta, who had been waiting for the students, tossed a softball to Katsuki Bakugo and said,

"Bakugo, do you remember the softball throw from when you first enrolled?"

"Throw it with all your strength!"

Following Aizawa-sensei's order, Bakugo stepped out of the lineup. Meanwhile, Midoriya Izuku quietly asked Takeyama Urei beside him,

"What's this about?"

"You don't know?" Takeyama Urei responded with a question of her own before pausing, suddenly remembering, "Oh right, Midoriya, you joined the Hero Course after the sports festival."

"Right after we enrolled, Aizawa-sensei made us use our Quirks for a fitness test and even said he'd expel the last-place student. Everyone was scared out of their minds back then."

"What?! That really happened?" Midoriya was shocked. Thinking back on Aizawa-sensei's harsh actions, he realized this kind of thing was exactly something he would do.

"You two, stop whispering."

After warning Midoriya and Takeyama, Aizawa pulled out a distance-measuring device and told Bakugo to get ready to throw.

"Die!!"

Bakugo, fully charged, used the explosive power in his hands to launch the softball like a rocket into the sky. The ball flew so high it disappeared from sight. Aizawa measured the distance.

"709.6 meters."

"What?!"

Bakugo froze in disbelief. This result completely surprised him—he thought he could throw it even farther.

Meanwhile, Midoriya, still puzzled by the situation, quietly asked Takeyama again.

"Is there something wrong with that score?"

"Bakugo's throwing distance was around 700 meters when he first enrolled. That means this guy hasn't improved at all over this time."

"Oh, I see!"

Aizawa, veins popping on his forehead, shouted at Midoriya and Takeyama,

"You two! Stop whispering!!"

The pair, now under their second stern warning, quickly covered their mouths. Aizawa-sensei was losing his patience...

"Anyway, no more whispering from anyone. Can you just listen to me carefully?"

With Aizawa's sharp glare aimed directly at them, Midoriya and Takeyama nodded furiously. It was clear the warning was meant for them.

"A lot has happened recently, and you've all gained considerable experience. That's why you feel like you've gotten stronger. But true strength comes from multiple factors—experience, technique, combat awareness—it's a combination of these."

Aizawa explained in detail, and this time, no one dared to whisper. They knew Aizawa-sensei wasn't kidding around.

"While your mental awareness and skills have improved, your actual physical strength hasn't increased much."

"That's why we brought you to this training camp—to focus on strengthening your Quirks."

"Quirks are like physical abilities. They become stronger with focused training, but if neglected, they weaken over time…"

Facing Class 1-A, Aizawa clearly outlined the purpose of the camp. Once he finished speaking, the next steps were obvious.

"Quirk Training."

Aizawa assigned each student a specific training plan based on their unique Quirks. Since everyone's Quirk was different, the training had to be tailored to their individual needs.

Bakugo's Quirk allows him to create explosions with his hands. Aizawa-sensei arranged for him to repeatedly soak his hands in hot water to expand his sweat glands and maximize his explosive power as a way to train his Quirk.

For Todoroki Shoto, his training involved sitting in a tub of water, alternating between freezing and heating it to keep the water at a constant temperature. This not only helped him fine-tune his Quirk but also improved his ability to use both fire and ice at the same time.

Takeyama Urei repeatedly used her gigantification Quirk, holding her giant form for as long as possible before shrinking back down and immediately growing again. This was the same method her sister, "Mt. Lady," used to train her Quirk back in the day.

Ochako had it rough—she was strapped into a giant bouncy ball and rolled up and down hills to force her to adapt to the dizziness caused by her zero-gravity Quirk.

When the students from Class B arrived late, they were speechless at the scene of pure chaos. This "Quirk training" wasn't just for Class A; Class B was in for the same grueling experience. When they wondered if the staff could handle so many students, someone answered:

"Eyes that sparkle lock onto you!"

"Paws ready to assist!"

"Appearing out of nowhere!"

"Adorable kitty missiles!"

"Wild! Wild!!"

"Pussycats!!"

The Pussycats, a team of professional heroes, had been specially invited by U.A. High to oversee the Quirk training. Their abilities made them perfect for the job.

- Pixie-Bob: Her Quirk, "Earthflow," allowed her to create terrains suitable for Quirk training or summon earthen beasts for combat practice.

- Mandalay: Her Quirk, "Telepath," let her send messages to multiple people at once over a wide area.

- Ragdoll: Her Quirk, "Search," enabled her to gather detailed information on up to 100 people, including their weaknesses.

- Tiger: The only male member of the team, his Quirk, "Pliabody," made him a combat-oriented hero.

With the Pussycats managing the training, everything was carefully planned to ensure all students could train effectively.

While the other students were busy with their Quirk training, Midoriya Izuku sighed and continued working on modifications to his mechanical armor. Yaoyorozu Momo, sitting nearby, kept producing the parts he needed with her Quirk. It was clear that without her help, the process would have been much harder. Aizawa-sensei's reputation as a tough teacher was well-earned.

Yaoyorozu's Quirk training involved quickly replenishing her body fat and producing items in rapid succession, helping her improve her Quirk efficiency.

As for Midoriya, he didn't have a Quirk, so he wasn't part of the main training sessions.

However, Aizawa still gave him a difficult task: upgrading his mechanical armor to be capable of smashing through rocks head-on.

The challenge stemmed from a comment Aizawa made:

"I saw your fights during the final exam with Mirio and earlier with Kenranzaki. Midoriya, you're starting to go down the wrong path.

"Steel wires suit your fighting style, but with machines, their most reliable trait is raw destructive power. You don't need to adapt the armor to match your personal combat habits."

Aizawa's words made an impression on Midoriya. He realized he had been limiting the potential of his armor by focusing on retractable steel wires instead of exploring simpler, more direct methods.

To assist him, Aizawa assigned Yaoyorozu to work with Midoriya. Not only did this give him the materials and tools he needed, but it also served as valuable training for Yaoyorozu. It was a win-win situation.

Seeing Yaoyorozu Momo on the side, still eating rice balls to replenish her fat reserves, Midoriya Izuku couldn't help but feel sorry for her... In the end, this must be Aizawa-sensei's twisted sense of humor.
