Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Training and Level Up
Chapter 3: Training and Level Up
The Aftermath of the Kill
The Blackfang Tiger lay still, its blood pooling into the dirt. The jungle was eerily silent, the usual hum of insects and rustling leaves gone. It was as if the forest itself had acknowledged my kill.
[Ding! First Kill Achieved!]
[+10 EXP Earned (10/100 to Level 2)]
Ten percent of the way to the next level. Not bad, but nowhere near enough. I needed to keep going.
Tom and Randy approached cautiously, their eyes flicking between me and the corpse.
"Alright, kid," Randy muttered. "That was… something. Didn't think you'd actually kill the damn thing."
I didn't answer. Not like I could, anyway. Instead, I slowly descended to the ground, my body trembling from the strain of keeping myself afloat for so long.
Tom let out a low whistle. "Well, a deal's a deal. You train up, we hand you over to the Marines later, and we all get something out of it."
Randy crouched down, pulling out a hunting knife. "First, though—we need to butcher this thing. No sense in letting good meat go to waste."
And just like that, I got my first lesson in skinning and processing a kill.
Training Montage: A Few Days Pass
The days that followed were filled with nothing but training and survival.
1. Telekinesis Practice – Precision and Speed
Every morning, I would float over the ocean near the village, using my telekinesis to hurl pebbles at fish.
At first, I was too slow—the fish darted away before I could land a hit.
Gradually, I improved. I learned to track movement better, predict where they'd go, and fire multiple pebbles at once.
One day, as I successfully sniped a large fish out of the water, I heard the familiar sound:
[Ding! Fish Killed – +1 EXP Earned (11/100 to Level 2)]
I froze.
"Wait, I can get EXP from fish too?"
"Yes, Host," the System answered. "However, weaker creatures provide significantly less experience."
I glanced at the water, watching the remaining fish darting around. If a single fish gave me 1 EXP, then…
I rained pebbles down on them.
By the time I was finished, I had killed about ten fish and earned a measly +9 EXP (20/100 to Level 2).
Killing weak creatures wasn't efficient, but it was still progress.
2. Hunting Lessons – Tracking and Combat
Randy and Tom taught me how to track footprints, read broken branches, and move silently.
They showed me how to set up basic traps—snares for smaller animals and pitfalls for larger ones.
Every hunt, I would test my abilities, using telekinesis to take down small prey.
I learned that fast-moving animals were much harder to hit, forcing me to work on my reaction speed.
3. Strengthening My Control
• I practiced lifting multiple objects at once, increasing my multitasking abilities.
• I experimented with different ways to move myself, trying to improve my flight speed.
• I discovered that if I pushed off the ground while using telekinesis, I could enhance my mobility.
4. Taking Down Another Predator
A few days later, we encountered another dangerous beast—something weaker than the Blackfang Tiger but still a challenge.
This time, I didn't just rely on raw power.
I used the environment—knocking down branches with my telekinesis to disorient it before landing the final blow.
[+10 EXP Earned (30/100 to Level 2)]
Between hunting, fishing, and training, the EXP slowly stacked up.
100/100 EXP Reached – Level Up!
Days later, I stood in the middle of the forest, facing down a wild boar.
It charged, its tusks gleaming—fast, but predictable.
I spun a small rock with my telekinesis, building momentum—then fired it straight between its eyes.
The impact made a sickening crack! and the beast tumbled to the ground, twitching before going still.
Then—
[Ding! 100/100 EXP Reached – Level Up!]
[Level 2 Achieved!]
[Next Level: 500 EXP Needed]
I blinked. 500 EXP?!
Leveling up was about to get a lot harder.
But before I could think too much about it—
[Normal Roll Activated!]
Here we go.
The familiar anticipation filled me as the system spun the gacha wheel in my mind.
Rolling…
[New Quirk Obtained: "Spring Step"]
• Type: Mutant (20% chance hit!)
• Ability: The user's leg muscles and tendons function like springs, allowing them to jump higher and absorb shock more effectively.
• Limitations:
• Jump height is twice that of a normal human—not infinite.
• Slight increase in running speed, but not superhuman.
• Still takes fall damage if landing improperly.
• Usefulness:
• Good for agility and mobility-based movement.
• Not incredibly powerful, but better than weaker civilian Quirks.
I flexed my legs experimentally.
For the first time since being reborn, I felt a physical change.
My muscles felt tighter, springier—like coiled steel wires ready to explode into motion.
Then, on impulse, I tried something I hadn't done since being reborn.
I pushed myself off the ground—without telekinesis.
My legs coiled and released like springs, launching me higher than I'd ever jumped in my past life.
I soared a few feet into the air before landing lightly.
I paused.
Then, I grinned.
For the first time since becoming a baby, I could actually move on my own.
No floating. No mental strain. Just me and my body, working together.
I was getting stronger.
And this was only the beginning.
End of Chapter 3.
