Quick transmigration Changed Something

Chapter 4: Chapter 1.3

Xi Lian was a little nervous on the way to Jian High School. Even the system couldn't detect his slight anxiety, as it was masked by his usual detached aura. For Xi Lian, it was a familiar yet unfamiliar path.

The high school wasn't far from the Jun family's villa—it only took fifteen minutes to reach. But since Xi Lian walked leisurely, observing the familiar streets and buildings with fresh eyes, it took him nearly thirty minutes to arrive at Jian High School.

Although Jian High wasn't the top school in the country, it was still well-known in the area. The school building was grand, surrounded by a lush green garden that created a relaxing and fresh environment, ideal for studying. There were still ten minutes left before classes began, and the students took the time to chat with their friends.

Amidst the lively chattering in the school corridors—where some students were reviewing homework, others were rushing to complete theirs, and some were simply relaxing—two people stood out from the rest. One of them was Lu Minzhe, chatting animatedly with a bright smile, while the other was Jun Hao, quietly reviewing his homework. If one observed carefully, they would notice that despite his focus on the textbook, Jun Hao was still listening to his friend's words.

Their presence naturally drew attention. A small group of girls stood nearby, whispering amongst themselves.

"Jun Hao is as handsome as ever," a petite girl murmured, her face slightly flushed.

"Lu Minzhe is charming too," another added excitedly. "Look at those sharp eyes and confident posture."

While some students admired them, others watched with jealousy and quiet envy, though a few held admiration in their eyes.

Under these many watchful gazes, Xi Lian approached the two. Lu Minzhe was the first to notice him. His sharp gaze flickered with mild surprise—after all, the original Xi Lian had always kept to himself. Though they had attended the same school for years, Xi Lian had remained distant, as if existing in a different world altogether.

Xi Lian, on the other hand, silently observed Lu Minzhe as well. His red hair instead of making him look dominating made him look charming.

Jun Hao finally glanced up from his book, his cold gaze meeting Xi Lian's.

For the first time since entering this world, Xi Lian was standing before the protagonist duo.

Jun Hao's eyes flickered with surprise for a brief moment before turning cold again, but Xi Lian caught the faint trace of disdain hidden deep in those dark eyes.

Xi Lian didn't particularly like the original's cowardly nature, but after inheriting his memories, he could understand how it had formed. What he couldn't comprehend was why Jun Hao, who could show mercy to his childhood bullies, had none for his timid cousin.

Seeing them silently staring at each other, Lu Minzhe chuckled and joked, "Are you two just going to stand there and have a staring contest? The bell's about to ring."

Jun Hao was the first to react. He lowered his gaze, pretending to focus on his book, though an unfamiliar restlessness stirred within him at his cousin's unexpected approach.

Xi Lian, a beat slower, nodded briefly at Lu Minzhe before hastily shoving Jun Hao's lunchbox into his hands and bolting toward the classroom.

Lu Minzhe and Jun Hao both stared after him, momentarily stunned.

A laugh escaped Lu Minzhe as he shook his head. "Your cousin is hilarious. He's like a startled kitten, running off with his tail tucked between his legs."

The school bell rang, breaking the moment.

Jun Hao shot him a cold look before walking off toward the classroom without a word.

Lu Minzhe frowned, ruffling his red hair in frustration. "Hey, wait! I was just complimenting him! Why are you the one getting mad?"

As Jun Hao and Lu Minzhe walked away, the group surrounding them slowly dispersed, murmuring among themselves about the unfamiliar boy who had approached the well-known duo.

Inside the classroom, the atmosphere remained lively—the rustling of papers, the flipping of books, and the occasional chatter filling the air—until the teacher arrived.

Jun Hao, being the top student, was seated at the front, while Xi Lian, with his average grades, occupied a middle seat. At the very back sat Lu Minzhe, the resident troublemaker who consistently ranked at the bottom of the class. Though, thanks to Jun Hao's reluctant tutoring, his grades had seen some minor improvement.

The stern voice of Teacher Zhen cut through the classroom noise.

"Li Xang, collect everyone's homework and bring it to my office after class."

"Yes, sir," Li Xang replied with a polite smile, his voice carrying an easy friendliness.

With that, Teacher Zhen began the lesson, occasionally throwing out questions. Most were promptly answered by Jun Hao, while others were tackled by Li Xang and a handful of other students.

Jun Hao had once been nominated for class monitor due to his top-ranking scores, but he had declined the position, leaving the responsibility to Li Xang, the second-ranked student. Unlike others who might have been bitter, Li Xang admired Jun Hao even more for it. It was clear he wasn't the type to care about status or unnecessary responsibilities.

While Jun Hao diligently focused on his studies, Lu Minzhe, in contrast, was fast asleep at the back of the class.

Meanwhile, Xi Lian sat in his seat, trying to calm his heart. He had run away earlier not out of nervousness but because he didn't want anyone to question his sudden approach to Jun Hao. The less attention he attracted, the better.
