Chapter 9: Yandere are good on paper
The training grounds had become quite crowded as various people had shown up to witness the prowess of the new knight of the princess, Arthur Pendragon. While the area was crowded with Prince Zanac and princess Renner watching from an elevated position, most of the nobles were low nobles like Baron and knight houses and perhaps one or two counts, but that was fine.
"winner, Arthur Pendragon"
Gazeff announced as yet another knight failed to defeat Arthur. This challenge has already been going on for an hour now and Arthur has already felled close to sixty plus knights, the duels were quick and fast each ending the moment it began and Arthur looked quite refreshed barely even tired, Another knight stepped up and he welcomed it with a grin, he found this to be quite fun.
"My, my sister, it seems your knight might be a great boon to the kingdom"
Zanac offered with a smile as he watched with interest, his mind was already thinking of ways to have Arthur on his side, he was certain that he could put him to better use than his sister or more specifically, someone like her should not be given any power that might make her a threat.
"Quell your greed brother and stifle any thoughts of trying to poach him from me"
"Of course, I would never dream of such a thing"
He denied it, but of course, that didn't mean he wouldn't actually try. With how fast Arthur is Defeating the knights he judge might be the second coming of Gazeff, Zanac was certain that given that Arthur would stand equal footing with the Chief warrior of Re-estize and he needs to have someone of such a calibre on is side, having a strong knight is essential to a king.
Renner on the other hand was focused elsewhere, while her face seemed to be watching Arthur do battle she had long since lost interest, by the tenth time Arthur ended the battle once it began she was satisfied with his performance, her mind was now focused on the meeting they had earlier today, she had tried putting it out of her mind but she couldn't, what Arthur had told her was bewildering.
He has said that while A country called Britannia certainly existed, he wasn't aware that it existed in the next continent, to which he told that he wasn't even from this dimension that he doesn't even know how he got here, the whole story about a witch was fabricated to make things more believable.
'Was all he said true?'
She wondered, this idea about him coming from a different dimension was quite unbelievable to her, and truthfully, it would have been better if he stuck to the original witch story.
'But I suppose we can't really trust each if we know nothing about each other, although I don't know if what he said is true'
He was going to be her knight, meaning her life was on his hands. Would she be comfortable placing her life on the hands of someone she doesn't even know? Absolutely not as such it was good that they had that talk.
'Although I'll have to research the idea of people coming from other dimension, the gods worshipped in the Slane theocracy were rumoured to have come from other dimensions as well, I'll have to start there'
A grin appeared on her face, of course this time she made sure not to let her true face slip out, to the onlooker that would be an innocent grin of a maiden witnessing her knight display his power however Renner was smiling for a much more selfish reason and that reason being, Arthur was a unique existence that only she could have, he was in a world unfamiliar to him and all his loved ones were not here, it must be lonely.
He was powerful and a person that had instilled fear in her, but she does not need to be afraid of him. If she does everything right, then his power will be used for her sake. His blade will point at her enemies and cut down all threats to her person.
' Aww, poor thing, Don't worry I'll take care of you'
She thought as her grin grew into a wide smile, truly unfortunate he was but he was fortunate to meet her, she will give him all he will ever need and return he will be forever thankful to her, a powerful Ally that would achieve her dreams was put on her lap, oh what a wonderful scenario she found herself in of course this meant she would have to be irreplaceable in his heart.
'How do I go about that then?'
She silently pondered to herself as her mind now focused on Arthur's back as he finished another challenge.
Arthur himself, on the other hand, had felt a significant weight being lifted off his shoulders, having told Renner some bit of the truth had made his mood much better. This was the reason why he was feeling quite refreshed today because it felt like he had found someone that he can trust, of course Renner is a twisted Pyscho that he has to be careful around, that did not mean he can not place his trust on her, after all despite everything in the original the Girl really did love Climb, it was twisted love but she loved him nonetheless, so much so that she sacrificed her home country just to be with him.
'it should be fine. She hasn't developed any form of romantic interest in me, which is fine for now, but if she does, I should be careful'
Like stated before, Renner loved Climb however she deliberately put him in situations beyond his power all just so he would get hurt and she'll have to take care and have her way with him, it was crazy and he was kind if into that but he'd rather she not try and do that to him.
"Yans are good on paper, but not so much in real life"
He muttered to himself as he once again defeated another knight in but a second. [UI] was an incredibly useful skill to have, and combined that with [Fillet and Dissect] technique then he was practically fighting on easy mode, simply dodge their first strike, cut their sword in half with you own sword and end the match mere seconds after it began.
"easy peasy lemon squeezy"
He exclaimed as he placed his sword on the man's neck, and the knight frowned, hearing those words as he took them as mockery.
while Arthur may be enjoying this, he needed to train to discover more of his skills, so he needed these to be over quickly, and by the look of things he be done just thirty more.
….
[E-RANTEL Adventurers guild]
"what's happening at the Katze plains!!"
Ainzarch the guild leader of the E-Rantel adventurers guile asked in a hurried voice, the question was rhetorical as he was already aware of the situation, a large number of undead had spawned in the Katze plains, this wouldn't be an issue normally, however this time it seems the undead that have spawn are in greater numbers and the undead seemed to be of a higher level than usual.
"we don't know sir, the situation is dire, the recon team we sent only one member came back and he isn't in good condition, he only reported in about an army and then passed out, we assumed he was talking about an undead army."
The female guild employee explained that it was not just the recon team that was practically wiped out. A majority of the copper plate teams were utterly destroyed, some not even having a member return. Undead are not usually powerful, especially if they aren't guided by a Necromancer or by a superior undead as such copper plates are usually enough to deal with them.
"is it possible a superior undead has spawned"
"That's possibility sir, what should we do? we don't have enough high level adventurers, We could make do with the iron plates but it we're dealing with an army then we would need a few gold plate adventure and there's only one team currently here"
E-Rantel was a fortress city that was Located at the border of the kingdom of Re-estize, as such there weren't that many high level adventurers, most adventurers could be found in the capital where the guild is bigger and has a large amount of high paying requests, so if an adventurer wants to make money going to the capital is their best bet.
"we'll make do with what we have. If it's an undead army, then it will most like come here, we cannot have that. Inform the adventurers that we're placing a special quest."
"Yes sir"
The assistant left and Ainzarch began writing a letter, to the guild at the capital, the adventurers would hold of the army while waiting for reinforcements he also decided to write a letter to addressed to the royal family in hopes they would spare a few knights to assist.
"I just hope it's just an increased spawn rate rather than anything else"
A gut feeling told him something was terribly wrong, the possibility of a Necromancer pulling the strings and trying to plunge E-Rantel into its devious ploy was not lost on him and sending all the adventurers decreases the defence of the city, while there are guards a majority of them lack actual field experience and are weak individuals who only wanted the prestige of a knight, not to mention any skilled knight would have left for the capital to work for a high noble like a Marquis or a viscount.
"hopefully my gut is wrong"
He dreaded the possibility of a high level Necromancer being the one pulling the strings. It would be troublesome if they revived the dead adventurers who went to investigate the problem
