Chapter 51 - 7 days in the desert (3)
A kiss could still be interpreted as a mere accident, but two…That would be a bit too careless.
Quite unexpectedly special.
Shen Yan pretended not to see it, and after finishing his wash, he was about to go out and discuss with Blaze about how to rescue Falson.
He pressed the door handle to push it open but couldn’t budge it.
The door was locked from the inside.
He felt a strange sense of familiarity.
He took a couple of steps back, surveyed the room, and looked up to see a red light blinking on the doorframe—it was a surveillance camera.
He greeted the camera, treating it like an intercom. “Blaze, where are you? Open the door, I’m coming to find you.”
“Blaze says you can’t go out.”
Shen Yan turned around.
A faint voice emerged. Little Blaze, peering over the edge of the bed, stuck its head out, its big eyes staring straight at him.
Like one of those eerie dolls from a horror movie that pops up everywhere.
Shen Yan couldn’t help but smile. He walked over in large strides, picked up the somewhat unhappy and sulking Little Blaze, pinched its face, and said, “Who’s little robot has a pout big enough to hang three large oil cans?”
Little Blaze frantically touched its own mouth, confirmed that it was still in its normal form, and then looked at Shen Yan again, its gaze still full of resentment. “It’s not me.”
Shen Yan exaggerated its appearance and also said in a sulking tone, “It’s not me.”
Little Blaze: “…”
Shen Yan laughed, ruffled Little Blaze’s head, and said, “Last time it was my fault. I disassembled you without a word. Don’t be mad at me, Little Blaze. I’ll buy you some energy resources to eat, is that okay?”
“I’m a robot. I don’t have an emotional system, so I can’t get angry,” Little Blaze paused, then cautiously looked at him. “Shen Yan, you’ve been very kind to me, but I’m sorry. I can’t break my bottom-level logic code. I can’t stop monitoring.”
Shen Yan: “Including now?”
Little Blaze whispered, “Yes.” It slowly leaned on Shen Yan’s shoulder and wrapped its arms around his neck. “I’m sorry.”
Blaze had put a lot of effort into it. Originally, it was a simple robot, but after its upgrade, its hair and skin were almost indistinguishable from human beings.
From being wooden and stiff to now being able to act coquettish.
Shen Yan found it so cute that he covered it’s eyes, kissed its cheek, and then let go, placing it back on the bed. He walked to the window sill, smiling at it. “Blaze is my good friend. I allow surveillance.”
Click.
The door opened just then.
Shen Yan, holding Little Blaze, turned around, squeezed its hand, and waved, “You got here so quickly.”
Blaze stood a few steps away, his light golden hair tied in a ponytail, with a few strands of hair scattered across his forehead. He was wearing the special black uniform of the guard squad, making his broad shoulders and long legs appear even more prominent. His cold, reserved demeanor made him hard to approach.
This made Shen Yan wonder if it was possible that Ruan Zhixian had messed with the tongue ring, causing him to misunderstand a good person.
Before he could figure it out, Blaze interrupted his thoughts.
“Are you hungry? There isn’t much good food here, so I’m afraid you’ll have to endure for a while.”
Shen Yan picked up on a hint of danger in his tone, but he remained calm and said, “It’s fine. We can leave today.”
Blaze: “No.”
“…What do you mean?”
Blaze took Little Blaze off Shen Yan’s arm and let it go out, leaving just him and Shen Yan in the room.
Blaze’s expression didn’t change, but Shen Yan could sense some danger, and couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re not going to imprison me again, are you? Keep me from going anywhere?”
“Shen Yan, don’t think of me that way.”
Blaze lowered his gaze, his eyelashes slightly trembling. “You’ve just been electrocuted, your body hasn’t fully recovered. I just want you to rest more.”
“Why lock the door?”
“Afraid you’d wake up and run around, and I wouldn’t be able to find you.”
“Little Blaze said you won’t let me out.”
“That was an old instruction, I forgot to change it.”
“Why is there surveillance in the room?”
“Every room has it. If you don’t like it, I can take it down.”
Blaze answered fluently.
But every word made Shen Yan feel something was off.
But whatever, let it be.
He didn’t think too deeply, standing up for too long made his leg feel weak. He winced, and Blaze stepped forward and firmly supported him with his strong arms.
He helped Shen Yan sit on the bed, then sat down at the edge, speaking slowly: “Don’t worry about Falson. Rest here at the base for now, and Warren and I will think of a way to bring him back.”
Shen Yan: “I’ll go with you.”
Blaze spoke as if he didn’t hear him: “Is there anything else? Anything else you need to do?”
Shen Yan fell silent for a few seconds, looking into his eyes and said firmly, “You don’t want me to take risks.”
“Yes.” Blaze even smiled slightly. “Shen Yan, if there’s anything, leave it to me. If I see you split apart again, I’ll go crazy.”
Shen Yan: “…”
His mental state was probably not too healthy either.
He felt a mix of emotions. He finally sighed and said dryly, “Don’t worry, I’ll plan everything. From now on, no matter what action we take, I’ll discuss it with you first so you won’t have to worry.”
Blaze glanced at him without saying anything, then held his hand and lightly ran his fingers over the blood vessels on his hand that had been electrified.
“If I hadn’t gotten there in time, the shock would’ve caused you to lose control of your bladder. You would’ve been humiliated in front of strangers, begging them with slurred speech to stop, losing all dignity.”
He raised his eyes and stared at him intently. “Shen Yan, is this part of your plan?”
Shen Yan: “…Not quite.”
Blaze: “You must have considered the worst consequences, yet you still went ahead.”
Shen Yan fell silent again.
Now Blaze was a little scary.
Shen Yan knew he hadn’t been honest. His friends were doing their best for him, but he had been keeping things from them, acting impulsively for efficiency, making them worry.
He softened his tone and turned his head to look at him. “I won’t take such risks again. Even if I have to, I’ll discuss it with you first. Is that okay?”
Blaze didn’t give a direct answer, just stared deeply at him. “Really?”
Shen Yan raised three fingers seriously. “Of course. If I lie even a little…”
“Oaths are the most useless promises.” Blaze pressed down Shen Yan’s hand. “Shen Yan, you don’t need to swear. I will always trust you.”
After that, he naturally leaned forward and kissed his cheek lightly.
The movement was so quick that Shen Yan didn’t have time to react, and before he knew it, Blaze had sat back up, his expression unchanged as he said, “There’s room for operation in Falson’s trial. Just rest, I’ll handle it as soon as possible.”
Shen Yan was stunned for a few seconds before nodding in agreement.
Blaze left, and as expected, the door wasn’t locked again. Little Blaze poked its head in, crawled into Shen Yan’s bed, and looked up at him.
Shen Yan was still in a daze from being spoiled by Blaze when he didn’t notice it until it choked up and said that there were bad people chasing it.
“What bad people?”
Little Blaze curled up in Shen Yan’s arms, holding him tightly, and was about to speak when there was a heavy knock at the door.
The door handle turned, and Warren stormed in, his anger suddenly halting when he saw Shen Yan. His gaze quickly shifted to Little Blaze, clinging to him.
He quickly stepped forward, yanked it off Shen Yan, and looked like he was going to smash it to pieces. Shen Yan, confused, instinctively defended it. “Warren, let it go. What’s wrong with it?”
Warren sneered, threw Little Blaze aside, then threw the blanket off and pulled Shen Yan into his arms, growling angrily, “It said it saw you and Blaze kissing and said you two were alone in the room, talking about feelings. Told me to get lost.
