President Fu Is Great at Pretending, and the Frail Young Master Has No Way to Deal With Him

Chapter 13

Fu Yanhe had originally thought the house wasn’t good, but now he felt it was barely okay.

However, it was really small, so he decided to let his wife live with him for the time being. When he caught him, he would definitely convince him to stay with him.

His wife wanted to go to school, but his large flat was far from Beijing University, making it inconvenient for him to travel back and forth. He thought of buying a comfortable and spacious house near the university to make the commute more convenient for him.

Before leaving, Fu Yanhe dropped Gu Wenning off at school, stuffing him with snacks and telling him to eat a few bites if he got hungry.

“Honey, I have to go to work now. See you at noon,” he said.

Gu Wenning had wanted to say “no” to avoid the back-and-forth, but Fu Yanhe didn’t give him a chance to speak. He unilaterally told Gu Wenning about their noon meeting and drove off.

Pressed for time, Fu Yanhe didn’t have time to change clothes, so he went directly to the company.

His outfit that day was clearly different from usual, and the receptionist almost thought she was seeing things. It wasn’t until he was about to walk by that she hurriedly greeted him, “Good morning, Mr. Fu.”

Fu Yanhe nodded lightly, his expression cold as he entered the exclusive elevator and headed upstairs.

Once he was out of sight, the receptionist couldn’t wait to pick up her phone and start sending messages to the group.

“Shocking news! Fellow veterans, our Mr. Fu, who hasn’t changed his style in years, didn’t wear his usual suit today. He’s gone for a casual sports look.”

“No way! Mr. Fu changing his style? This has to be his twin brother!”

“He doesn’t have a twin! My detective skills, honed from ten years of watching Conan, tell me something’s up. Why does the peacock spread its wings? Only when it’s courting! We must be getting a boss lady soon!”

.

In the company, Fu Yanhe returned to his usual serious demeanour. He worked meticulously, and his subordinates were overwhelmed as they followed his rigorous training, nodding in agreement with his every instruction.

As the office clock ticked closer to eleven-thirty, a soft chime sounded, and Fu Yanhe’s face brightened slightly. He waved his hand, signalling for his subordinates to leave.

It was time to go on a date with his wife.

Unexpectedly, just as Fu Yanhe picked up his phone to send a message to his wife, he saw an unread text from the contact named “Kiss my wife.”

“Mr. Fu, I went home and won’t be at school at noon.”

After reading the simple message, Fu Yanhe couldn’t help but feel dejected.

He had finally planned a date with his wife, but someone from the Gu family had interfered, causing him to miss their time together.

Filled with frustration, Fu Yanhe decided to channel his resentment into work. He dove back into reading documents in his office, thinking that if he worked overtime now, he could finish early. Then he could pick up his wife from the Gu family’s house, have dinner together, and still enjoy a date. It was the perfect plan.

.

Gu family villa.

The person who called Gu Wenning back was Father Gu.

Last night, Father Gu had heard from Gu Mingxu that Gu Wenning and Fu Yanhe had met in Qinglan Restaurant. He was anxious to know how Gu Wenning and Fu Yanhe got along, so he hurriedly called Gu Wenning back that morning.

“Dad,” Gu Wenning shouted, and Father Gu put down the magazine, asking Gu Wenning to sit wherever he pleased in a friendly manner.

“Wenning, did you meet Mr. Fu? How did you get along with him? The Fu Group is not ordinary. Mr. Fu is a person of status. He has a temper, and it is normal for people to be arrogant. Please be patient and accept it. With your usual temper, no matter what, you must maintain a good relationship with Mr. Fu…”

As soon as Father Gu opened his mouth, he asked Gu Wenning to find ways to please Fu Yanhe, seize the relationship of the marriage contract, and let the Gu family climb the big tree of the Fu Group to reach a higher level. He had no intention of interfering for Gu Wenning at all, as if it was a matter of course. He thought Gu Wenning should try to please and cater to another stranger, whether he was willing or unwilling.

After Gu Wenning listened to a few words, he lost the intention to continue listening and interrupted Father Gu with a calm voice.

“I will take care of my own affairs.”

When Father Gu heard this, he became angry and shouted loudly, “You want to decide on your own! Is this the time for you to be wilful? Gu Wenning, your wilfulness must be determined by time and place. The Fu family is not someone you can afford to offend. You must treat Mr. Fu well, don’t let him have any dissatisfaction with you; otherwise, you will bring trouble to everyone. Do you think it’s just you who is in trouble?”

Gu Wenning pursed his lips, feeling it was ironic and funny.

What was wilfulness?

Was it wilful to move out of this cold and inhumane Gu family villa?

Was it wilful to refuse to comply with the family’s arrangements and enter the film school to study acting, joining the entertainment industry like Gu Mingxu?

All he knew was that in order to satisfy Gu Mingxu’s so-called star dream, he had to sacrifice himself, to be a green leaf to foil Gu Mingxu, a red flower, and to pave the way for Gu Mingxu in the entertainment industry. Who would have considered that Gu Mingxu’s skills would not support him in acting at all, and he couldn’t even sing and dance?

Well, even if he was wilful, moving out of the Gu family’s villa was wilful, and choosing a major he liked was wilful. But when had his wilfulness ever brought trouble to the Gu family?

No, not even once.

He had taken responsibility for his choices and never troubled anyone in the Gu family.

Even Grandpa never had any trouble.

Didn’t they feel guilty for accusing him now with this face?

“I am not wilful. Even if the engagement is terminated, it will not cause any loss to the Gu family. It was never me who caused trouble for the Gu family.”

Gu Wenning looked calm.

Father Gu didn’t think so. Wasn’t it a loss if there was no profit?

Losing the opportunity to establish long-term cooperation with the Fu Group was a huge loss.

Father Gu murmured angrily, “What’s the use if you can’t even please someone? If it were Xiao Xu (Gu Mingxu), he wouldn’t be like you. Xiao Xu makes people worry less. Look at you! You are the same age as Xiao Xu; why can’t you be half as good as him? He previously secured an opportunity for the Gu family to cooperate with the Fu Group, but it is useless if you fail to seize the opportunity.”

Gu Wenning twitched his lips and said sarcastically, “Then let Gu Mingxu get the marriage. If the Fu family has an objection, it’s a pity. The Fu family is interested in me, not the filial and good son you care about.”

Hearing this, Father Gu pointed at Gu Wenning, moved his lips, and cursed him all over his head.

Probably after hearing the noise, Gu Mingxu, who had been in the room, ran downstairs and persuaded his father, “Dad, please calm down and don’t be angry. The doctor said last time that your blood pressure was high and you shouldn’t get angry. It will cost you more. Pay attention to your emotions.”

Turning around, Gu Mingxu said to Gu Wenning again, “Brother, please admit your mistake to Dad and accept it. There is no hatred between father and son. Dad is not an unreasonable person. As long as you admit your mistake, Dad will definitely forgive you.”
