Chapter 2: 2
The first simulation ended quickly, and the system presented new options after Link's initial interactions.
[⑤~ Cultivation: Enhance the tamer and monster's strength using items.]
[⑥~ Backpack: Access items in possession.]
[⑦~ Companion: Quantify bonds with companions.]
[Takuma Momoka: 10]
[Hinata Minoru: 10]
[Shibuya Aoi: 5]
[Tominaga Ryo: 0]
[Kayama Shuji: 0]
[Kimishima Saki: 0]
[Dongyun Kuidou: 0]
[Dongyun Meiyou: 0]
Note: None of these characters will appear in this book. This is purely a Pokémon story.
The unfamiliar names increased Link's confusion. He'd initially thought the simulator would provide valuable intelligence, but the absurd deaths and nonsensical system left him disheartened.
Surely… this system wasn't meant for him, right? Could he have received the wrong Pokémon system from another world?
Link sighed, glancing around. The Marine Team hadn't attacked yet, so he decided to "start over" with the simulation.
[You decide to stick with the group in an unfamiliar environment to avoid becoming the first victim.]
[The group reaches the second floor and finds Senior Tominaga Ryo—lonely, mean, and irritating—cornered in a classroom.]
[Agumon identifies the insect-like Digimon with him as Gunnimon, explaining it has no ill intentions and simply wants to play.]
[However, Ryo, terrified by past attacks, lashes out at both Gunnimon and his classmates for treating monsters rationally.]
[Amid the confusion, Ryo reveals the existence of ghosts and other monsters in the abandoned school building.]
[Before the group can process this, sticky spiderwebs suddenly appear. Ryo screams, as does the usually composed Senior Aoi.]
[Labramon spots Aoi's absence and raises the alarm—Aoi has vanished!]
Link couldn't help but grimace. What's wrong with these "Chosen Children"? This adventure is turning into a horror story! And why is the simulator obsessed with another world? Will these props even work for Pokémon here?
[Ryo claims Aoi was taken by a fast-moving monster, leaving the group panicked. Labramon suggests splitting up to search for her.]
[Despite the obvious risks, Takuma and Minoru agree and leave the classroom. Ryo remains, frozen in fear.]
[You hesitate but ultimately decide to leave the classroom with Pokomon, knowing Labramon's strength is essential.]
[Exploration begins.]
[A wild Patamon appears!]
Oh no, not again! Link braced himself.
[As the enemy approaches, you and Pokomon keep moving, using the "Killing Stone" ability to attack Patamon.]
Wait… this might work?! Link's hope surged.
[But despite regaining a youthful body, you lack combat skills. Patamon's Air Cannon shatters your abdomen, leaving you mortally wounded.]
[In your final moments, your desperate struggle inspires Pokomon to evolve into Foxmon.]
[Foxmon, agile and strong, uses "Fox Flash Attack" to defeat Patamon in a single strike.]
[However, your injuries prove fatal, and under the moonlight, you fade into light. Foxmon, bound to your life, dissolves into data fragments and disappears as well.]
[Simulation ends. Rewards: 10 gold coins, 10 bits, 1 Learning Crystal.]
[Learning Crystal: Enhances learning ability; a beautifully marked stone resembling carved letters.]
[Caution: Excessive simulation may harm the body. Daily limit: 2 + (Perception - 10)/2 simulations. Rest is recommended.]
Both simulations ended poorly, leaving Link exhausted and with little to show. Why do these Chosen Children seem so useless? Even Pokomon felt more like a burden than a partner.
Why did Foxmon die with me? Is my life linked to my Digimon in this other world?
Link shook his head. He didn't have time to analyze the simulator's background. Instead, he explored the system's new features.
[⑧~ Mall: Purchase supplies.]
[⑨~ Free Battle: Replay battles for rewards or practice.]
Bits, as Link discovered, could enhance both himself and his Digimon under the [Cultivation] interface. Pokémon could gain experience, improving their abilities. Humans could boost six attributes—strength, agility, constitution, intelligence, perception, and charm—as well as tamer-specific skills.
Link's six attributes were all set at 10. Increasing one point required 1,000 bits. So I'd need to defeat 100 Patamon just to raise one stat…
With nothing better to do, he equipped Pokomon with the "Learning Crystal" and used the system's idle battle function to grind gold and bits. The earnings were modest—10 gold coins and bits every two minutes—but it was a start.
Browsing the system mall, Link found most items catered to Digimon and doubted their effectiveness for Pokémon. Worse, many items required substantial bits or quest completions.
Resigned, Link rested and prepared for the next day's simulation. He hoped the Marines wouldn't throw their captives into the Hoenn Sea that night.
The gentle melody of the ocean waves lulled him to sleep. But peace was fleeting.
Late that night, the Aqua Team opened the cabin doors, forcing everyone onto the deck with their Pokémon.
