Chapter 18: ch18

Alex had a terrible nightmare.

In the dream, he was sucked into a dark and damp place, chased by a group of rotting headless corpses and long-haired female ghosts like Sadako.

He didn't sleep very well that night. When he woke up in the morning, he felt dizzy and his back was covered in cold sweat.

"It's strange...why does it feel like the temperature is so much lower..." As soon as he got out of bed, Alex felt something was wrong.

He glanced out of the window; it was autumn when he first arrived, and now it has been a month. After careful calculation, it seems that winter is about to begin.

It's normal for the temperature to drop suddenly in this season. Alex didn't think much of it, put on his clothes, and took his two Pokémon to the cafeteria for breakfast.

When passing by the playground, he saw Takeshi Nishida leading the students in a class.

Unlike him, Takeshi Nishida is the teacher of the Pokémon attribute class. In addition to explaining basic knowledge in the classroom, he occasionally goes to the playground to give practical explanations.

Takeshi Nishida: "What I want to say is that the saying that type advantages will definitely win the battle is not absolute. Through the command and cultivation of trainers, it is also possible to defeat the opponent even with a type disadvantage."

While speaking, his eyes drifted to Alex passing by: "Mr. Alex, can you come here for a while?"

Alex didn't know what he was going to do, but he still walked over and said with a smile, "Didn't you say you can call me by my name?"

People in the Pokémon world like to call others with the prefix "Little," like Ash (Xiaozhi), Brock (Xiaogang), and Misty (Xiaoxia).

After getting acquainted with him, the teachers at the school tacitly changed his name from "Alex" to "Little Alex."

Takeshi Nishida chuckled and said, "It's more friendly this way!"

Alex: "... What's the matter with calling me over?"

Nishida nodded and said: "That's it. I'm explaining the type advantage battles to them. Lisa said that you just captured a grass-type Pokémon. Can you have a Pokémon battle with me?"

As he said that, he also took out a red and white ball, and with a flash of white light, a Corphish appeared beside him.

Alex reminded with a blank face: "You've been a trainer for seven or eight years, and I am still a rookie."

Isn't this bullying?

Nishida scratched his head in embarrassment: "Ah, I almost forgot about it, but don't worry, I just captured this Corphish, and it hasn't fought many battles yet."

"This is fine." Alex became interested, just in time to test the power of Budew's moves.

The two stood at opposite ends of the practice field, and the students surrounded the field excitedly.

May shouted expectantly: "Mr. Alex, come on!"

Under her leadership, other students also cheered loudly, but they were all cheering for Alex.

Seeing this scene, Takeshi Nishida's face was a little dark, and he said sadly: "Why is no one cheering for me?!"

"Teacher, you have many years of fighting experience, and Mr. Alex has just become a trainer. It's not fair!" May shook her finger.

Nishida had nothing to refute.

Alex almost laughed out loud, tried his best to hold back his laughter, and said, "Can we start?"

"Budew!" Budew's little face was full of fighting spirit, and the nutritious meal yesterday made it feel full of energy.

"The rules of the battle are 1v1, each person can only use one Pokémon, and the battle will not end until one of the Pokémon loses the ability to fight!" May acted as a referee with a decent appearance.

The battle officially started, Nishida decided to strike first, and ordered loudly: "Corphish, use Bubble!"

"Corphish!" The Corphish raised its two large pincers, and a large transparent bubble flew out of them.

"Budew, dodge to the left!" Although it was Alex's first official Pokémon battle, he was not overly nervous. Instead, there was an unprecedented excitement in him, and he calmly gave orders.

Bubble is a simplified version of Bubble Beam, no matter in terms of density or flying speed in mid-air, it cannot compare with Bubble Beam.

Before they fly over, Budew has enough time to avoid them by moving.

Takeshi Nishida saw his intentions and continued to pursue: "Corphish, rush over and use Vice Grip!"

Alex: "Use Stun Spore forward!"

"Corphish!"

"Budew!"

The Corphish rushed over, Budew made a sound, and a cloud of light yellow powder spread from the bud on its head, surrounding the Corphish in the middle.

"Corphish?!"

The Corphish's body froze and it couldn't move.

"Seed Bomb!" Seeing this, Alex quickly launched a pursuit.

"Budew!"

A huge green seed condensed from the bud of Budew, and under its control, it smashed straight at the paralyzed Corphish.

Not surprisingly, a precise hit.

Just like the name of this move, at the moment of impact, an explosion occurred instantly.

Direct hit!

"Corphish!"

The Corphish let out a cry of pain, perhaps because of its insufficient resistance, it did not recover from the paralyzed state.

As soon as Takeshi Nishida saw this scene, he suddenly felt unable to breathe.

And Alex immediately pursued: "One more Seed Bomb!"

As expected, the Seed Bomb with a type advantage directly beat the Corphish to the point where it lost its fighting ability.

"Budew!"

Budew jumped happily into Alex's arms; it defeated the enemy!

It has always been the defeated party in the wild, not only for Alex, but this is actually the first time it has won!

The joy of victory does make one happy.

"Great job! Let's continue to work hard together in the future!" Alex praised without hesitation.

"Teacher, there is no way to win the battle of type advantage, right?" A student asked.

Takeshi Nishida just took back the Corphish, thanked it for its hard work, and then showed an embarrassed smile:

"It's your teacher Alex who is too powerful, but as I said before, there is still a possibility of winning in the battle of reverse types."

Alex also said: "Your teacher is right. Type advantage is not absolute. When you embark on a journey in the future, you will definitely encounter this kind of battle."

"However, as long as you know enough about and trust your companions, carefully observe your opponent's movements during the battle, and make good predictions, you still have a chance to win."

Alex analyzed the difference between the Bubble of the Corphish and Bubble Beam just now.

If the Corphish had just used Bubble Beam, then Budew would definitely be unable to avoid it. After being hit, Nishida would definitely launch a chase immediately and let the Corphish get close. In that case, the result may be different.

"Is that so?" May murmured, and after a while, there was a gleam of admiration in her eyes: "We remember it!"

Takeshi Nishida just touched Alex with his arm, and said in a low voice, "Why do I think you are more suitable than me to be their battle class teacher...Why don't I make a suggestion to the principal later?"

Alex: "...I think the ecology teacher is suitable for me." There are few classes, and he has plenty of personal time.

"Alright then," said Nishida.

Alex: "I'm leaving, there's still class later, I'll leave it to you here."

Slip away, he is going to do radio gymnastics with Budew.

After a day's classes, Alex returned to the dormitory with Archeops and Budew.

As soon as he entered the room, he couldn't help shivering, and said to Budew: "Do you feel that the house is much colder than outside?"

He didn't realize it before he went out in the morning, but now that he compared it, something was obviously wrong.

Budew frowned and nodded: "Budew..."

What happened?

Alex stood in the living room and looked around. Is there anything different in the house?

If the only difference is that there is one more thing.

Thinking about it, his eyes locked on the dark purple orb placed on the desk.

Alex stepped forward and took it in his hands.

As soon as he touched it, he immediately felt a distinct coolness.

It seems that the problem really lies here.

The name of this orb is "The Cursed Orb."

He couldn't help thinking that the nightmare he had last night was different from that adventurer.

Is it also related to this thing?

Alex narrowed his eyes. If there is a problem, the adventurer must have run away by now, and it is impossible to find him.

To verify whether it was this thing that made him have nightmares, before going to bed, he took the orb outside, found a place where no one was around, dug a hole, and buried it in there.

He originally thought that tonight would be a safe and sound night, but when he opened his eyes the next day, he saw that strange orb on the desk again.

"It really is a curse..." Thinking back to the nightmare he had last night, Alex finally understood why this thing was called this name.

It's haunted!
