Pokémon: Worlds Divided

Chapter 23: Onix's Resentment!

Suddenly, Onix expression changed as it glared at the' intruders'. Onix roared before focusing back on the group. Afterward, it opened its mouth and released a cone of bluish-green energy.

"Aron and Beldum, block it with your bodies!" Leon knew this was Dragonbreath, which was not very effective on the two.

The two didn't hesitate, they both jumped forward and collided with the wave of energy. Both Beldum and Arom took damage, but the damage was actually quite pathetic.

Onix lacked special attack and stab, and it was not a very effective move against them. Leon quickly ordered his brother and sister to get back. He also distanced himself from this aggressive Onix to prevent it from targeting him.

"Shroomish, attack, use Mega Drain!" Leon quickly commanded.

Vines that looked as if they were made of pure green energy emerged from Shroomish's little body. Onix looked on and its eyes widened; no one noticed that it had sensed the threat of this attack.

It quickly maneuvered its body and dodged the attack with ease.

"It dodged..." Leon was a bit stunned.

The path within this cave was fairly wide for humans and small to medium-sized Pokémon. Onix could fit, but it should have a bit of trouble moving the way it wanted in this cave.

Leon understood that this Onix may have trained itself to move in this way within this space. Its aptitude wasn't just for show, it seemed it had done training for these moments.

Rocks suddenly formed and levitated before shooting toward Shroomish and company.

"Punch those rocks, everyone. Don't let them get too close to us!" Leon hurriedly ordered.

The group of Geodude, Beldum, Aron, and Shroomish fended off the barrage of rocks.

"Go, Beldum and Aron, attack it! Use Iron Head Beldum and you use Metal Claw Aron!" Leon wanted to distract Onix, so Shroomish could deliver a devastating blow.

Beldum torpedoed itself toward Onix, however, Onix wouldn't allow itself to be hit so easily. It quickly evaded Beldum, it didn't even want to hit this thing.

"Aron, slide underneath it with your shell and metal claw it!" Leon saw an opening and called out an order.

Onix had unleashed another Dragonbreath toward Aron. Aron ran before maneuvering its body and flipping over on its shell. It then slid underneath the cone of dragon breath and Onix's body

"There!" Leon called out.

With the sound of metal, Aron struck out at Onix's body; landing a clear hit on it. Leon had seen it; he saw minus 20% appear in red on Onix's body. It floated over Onix's body for two seconds before disappearing.

Roar!!!

Onix hadn't felt so threatened before, not in its territory. It had even managed to run those annoying Mawile away. Now, these intruders dared to invade its territory and harm it!

Onix swiftly swung its tail in anger towards Aron, sending it flying like a baseball. Onix's weight far exceeded Aron's, making it impossible to block this attack unless Aron knew Protect.

"Aron!" Aron cried out as it was sent hurling through the air.

Aron smashed into a wall, causing it to collapse on impact. Right as Onix was about to pursue Aron, it felt something.

It quickly dodged to the left using its agile snake-like body.

"Wow, this guy is really good at evading. A little too good!" Leon's eyebrows rose. He was sure Shroomishes sneak attack would hit it.

At this time, Aron had recovered from Onix's tail swipe. Beldum had also levitated over, preparing to fight. Shroomish also stepped forward; after all, it was the one who initiated the sneak attack.

Leon sighed. He knew teaming up against the lone Onix was unfair, but this matter was too important.

"Leon, let us join you. We'll take it down together; we can't afford any mishaps." Surprisingly, Leona had stepped forward and spoke.

This mine was simply too important; they couldn't risk it being discovered by anyone. It would be best to quickly deal with Onix before it caused a serious ruckus.

"That's right. Let's take it down together." Lars couldn't let those golden doors shut or he would regret it forever.

"Alright, your Electrike has Ice Fang, which this Pokémon is weak against." Leon was initially worried about his siblings because of Onix's high aptitude.

Its ability to sense things and easily dodge them was proof of that.

"Yeah, I'll help as well. We need to defeat this Pokémon to avoid unnecessary trouble." Leona said anxiously.

This was a mine, and it was too important to share it with others. Even though the law would give the siblings full control since they discovered it; this wouldn't stop thieves.

Leon already had a plan for when they returned home. He wanted to contact the Pokémon Alliance and have them send someone over. Leon would write a report that they had found a Mother Lode and wanted to claim it.

"Swablu, go, attack, and use Disarming Voice!" Leona didn't wait for either of their replies and sent out a command to Swablu.

"Electrike! Use Ice Fang. Make sure you dodge any of its incoming attacks!" Lars was probably the most serious person here.

Electrike quickly ran to the frontlines to attack Onix, its mouth began giving off a frosty mist. Indeed, this was Electrike's activation of Ice Fang but amid this attack; Onix shot a Dragonbreath toward Electrike.

"Slide underneath the attack and Ice Fang it!" Lars quickly gave the order but copied what Leon had done.

Electrike did what it was told and slid under the Dragonbreath and dodged it. Afterward, it jumped onto Onix's body and bit it.

Roar!

Shortly after, a sheet of ice started forming on Onix's body as it let out a roar of anguish. Regrettably, it was largely helpless against Electrike due to Swablu, who proved to be the most bothersome foe.

Swablu took to the sky and attacked Onix with a Disarming Voice. Pink musical notes rained down on Onix, but it had managed to evade most of them. In the end, it was still hit by a few musical notes and took damage.

Onix launched a Rock Throw at Swablu, but it successfully evaded all the stones. What troubled Onix the most about this Swablu was that it was shamelessly attempting to peck at its eyes.

"Aron, Beldum, and Shroomish attack together with the same moves as before!" Leon handed down his down his final orders for this battle.

There was no way Onix could take a hit from these three at once. Onix may be big and intimidating, but its overall base stats weren't worth mentioning.

Leon could only sigh, he could see an enormous amount of resentment in Onix's eyes. It hated that it couldn't defend its territory, it hated this group for ruining its peace, and it hated itself for being too weak to fight back.

Onix wished it had found a Metal Coat to help it advance to the next level. However, no matter how much it searched it couldn't find this special treasure for itself.

Onix was finally taken down when it was hit by Shroomish and Beldum at the same time. If Leon knew what Onix was thinking before it was defeated, he would have agreed with these thoughts.

He and his siblings wouldn't be able to cope with a Steelix. Onix fainted with an expression filled with reluctance and grievance.

"Yeah, we beat it!" Leona's fist-pumped in excitement.

Lars only sighed in relief.

"Time to capture it." Leon took out a Duskball and tossed it at Onix before it was encapsulated.

With three shakes, it was easily acquired.

'Perfect! This guy will be good for my Kanto Team in the future. Until then, I should find ways to boost its aptitude while I'm at it.' Of course, other than feeding it ores from the mine.

Leon already had plans for this Onix, after all, no matter what he planned to head to Kanto after conquering this region.

Alola and Kanto were the closest regions to Hoenn. Leon picked Onix's Duskball up before storing it away.

"Great! We finally defeated that roadblock. Now, this mine is all ours for the taking, haha!" Lars started dancing which looked a bit awkward.

"Pfft! Lars don't be so cringy." Leona began to laugh at their findings and Lars's dance.

'Maybe I should get this Onix to help me excavate this cave's gold. It should also know this place well and where to find more gold and gems.' Leon thought.

"The walls are practically made out of gold, this is absolutely insane." Leon's flashlight hovered over the walls and most of it was made of gold.

"We're friggin rich!" Lars's eyes turned red in shock.

At first, they could only see bits of gold on the wall, but this part of the cave was practically made of gold!

Leon and company continued to explore the cave and found many other things. They had even found a few Duskstones, which usually formed in dark places.

Particularly, caves systems.

They didn't dig out these Duskstones for the time being. They were more or less scouting and exploring the cave for the moment.

"This cave is fairly deep, but because of that we manage to find many valuable things."

Leona had been using her flashlight on the wall most of the time. She was the one who discovered the Duskstones embedded in the walls.

"This cave is ours according to the law, so we don't have to worry about it. All we need to do is report it to the Pokémon Alliance later."

Even if someone found it now and decided to claim it; most people from his previous world would have a problem.

Someone could easily lie and say they had discovered it first. However, this world had Psychic Pokémon, which could see through a person's deception.

"So it's ours?" Leona asked in surprise.

"Yes. Even if someone wants to steal it, they won't succeed unless they kill us, of course." Leon gave a quick explanation about Psychic Pokémon and how the Alliance could use them to check and see who discovered it first.

"So we have assurance? This is good." Lars let out another sigh of relief. The killing part seemed to have gone right over his head.

Indeed, a Psychic Pokémon was a must-have for him now.

"They would definitely be willing to kill us to reap this cave for themselves. The town already has quite a few crooked people within it." Leona began to worry, they would definitely have to keep this a secret until it was reported.

"Of course, I have a way to move the gold safely and securely." Leon paused and continued "Everyone, stand back; I'm going to summon the Onix from before."

Once Leon called forth Onix, he used a revive on it, and almost immediately, it opened its eyes and stood up. Leon noticed a +50% appearing above Onix's head for a brief moment before vanishing.

Leon was speechless because he could still see the resentment in Onix's eyes.

"Onix, you know this place best. I need you to help me find more ores and gems, the best of the best." Leon gave Onix its first command.

Onix rolled it eyes in resentment before turning away and ignoring Leon.
