Pokémon: Volcarona Eggs Found at the Start

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: A New Beginning

Jiang Yu returned to his room and looked at the burning Pokémon in front of him.

---

Pokémon: Larvesta

Gender: ♀

Ability: Flame Body

Potential: Champion

Status: Normal

Level: 10

Moves: [...]

---

Sure enough, Larvesta's status had changed from near-death to normal, and its level had even increased by two. Everything was moving in a good direction.

Jiang Yu then took out Ho-Oh's Lucky Feather from his backpack.

Larvesta immediately locked eyes on the feather. It seemed to be calling out to her, and she didn't even try to hide the longing in her gaze.

However, Larvesta didn't move. She simply waited for Jiang Yu to speak.

Jiang Yu was pleased—despite her desire, she remained calm and patient.

"Do you want it?"

[Yes!!!]

"This is for you. You're a bit too tall—lower your head a little."

Larvesta eagerly lowered her head, and Jiang Yu gently placed the Lucky Feather on her. The feather slowly melted into her body like liquid gold.

[Mmm~, this feels amazing~]

[I feel sleepy…]

Jiang Yu watched as Larvesta swayed slightly, struggling to keep her eyes open.

"Just go to sleep already," he said with a helpless smile.

As if waiting for those exact words, Larvesta flopped to the ground and instantly fell asleep.

---

Jiang Yu, however, did not sleep. With Larvesta's health restored, it was time to start planning her training.

Next semester would mark the beginning of his third year of high school. Once all students had received their Pokémon, they would be trained in wilderness survival skills.

In this world, simply owning a Pokémon wasn't enough for adventure. Not everyone was a natural-born explorer like Ash Ketchum.

Outdoor exploration was filled with uncertainties. Most journeys took place far from cities, sometimes even in mystery dungeons where help was nearly impossible to call.

This was why every Trainer had to learn survival techniques and basic Pokémon medicine. If Pokémon injuries weren't treated properly, they could lead to long-term damage—or even death.

Food was another major issue. Trainers usually carried enough Pokéblocks or energy cubes, and some even learned to make simple ones in the wild.

Unlike in video games, this world had no such thing as a space backpack. Most Trainers had to maximize every bit of space in their bags to carry essentials.

Even though Jiang Yu did have a space backpack thanks to the system, he knew better than to rely on it blindly. Knowledge is power, no matter what world you're in.

---

In the first semester of senior year, the school would organize the first outdoor adventure when all students' Pokémon reached level 10.

In the second semester, when Pokémon reached level 15-20, there would be a second outdoor survival test.

This meant that reaching level 15-20 was the bare minimum for university entrance.

Level 20-29: Congratulations, you can enter a good university.

Level 30-39: Congratulations, you can choose any university.

Level 40-49: Congratulations, you qualify for elite Pokémon academies.

Level 50-59: Congratulations, the Shenzhou Alliance will recruit you as a rising star.

Level 60+: Congratulations, even Ho-Oh might call you "big bro" and ask for protection.

Jiang Yu had the system in one hand and a Champion-potential Larvesta in the other. He couldn't afford to be like ordinary people.

The banner of greatness was his to carry!

---

But before anything else, Larvesta needed proper training.

She had just been born and had only fought once—without any structured training.

The most urgent things were:

1. Move Mastery: Learning how to use her attacks effectively.

2. Energy Control: Understanding how to channel her own power.

3. Pokéblock Matching: Finding the best diet for her growth.

As a high school student, Jiang Yu didn't have to worry about foraging for food. Instead, he just needed to see how much food he could get away with taking from his mom.

Next, there were the system missions. The system store offered ingredients for Pokéblocks, training items, and even Poké Balls.

More importantly—there were Master Balls.

Jiang Yu had been eyeing the Master Ball for a while now. If he could gather enough system coins, he might actually be able to afford it.

There were also legendary items and battle-holding items—things that Trainers in this world could only dream of owning.

From what he had learned, battle items were extremely expensive—most Trainers couldn't even afford one for their entire team, let alone their ideal setup.

Yet, some battle items could completely change the course of a fight. Many competitive strategies relied entirely on having the right item.

Jiang Yu had a lot to think about.

But before he could finish planning, sleep took over.

---

The Next Morning

In his dreams, Jiang Yu felt something soft and small nudging him gently.

Half-asleep, he cracked his eyes open and saw Larvesta lying on his cheek, tickling his skin with her delicate feelers.

He let out a sleepy sigh, stretched his arms, and rubbed his eyes before absentmindedly petting Larvesta.

After freshening up, he instinctively pulled up Larvesta's status screen.

---

Pokémon: Larvesta

Gender: ♀

Ability: Flame Body

Potential: Quasi-Master

Status: Normal

Level: 10

Moves: [...]

---

Jiang Yu froze.

Then, he grinned like an idiot.

"Damn! The system is awesome!"

His Larvesta had gone from Champion to Quasi-Master potential overnight!

He couldn't stop smiling the entire way to breakfast. Even when people stared at him like he was crazy, he didn't care.

That was, until…

A chillingly familiar voice called out behind him:

"Jiang Yu. Have I been too lenient with you? You can't even walk straight anymore?"

Jiang Yu instantly straightened up.

Mom detected. Entering survival mode.

"Aha, good morning, Mom! By the way, where can I buy Pokéblocks for Larvesta?" he asked, quickly changing the subject.

Xia Shuhua placed an iron box into his hands and said, "I prepared them already. You better not starve this child."

"This is a week's worth of high-grade Pokéblocks for Larvesta. Fire-type, Bug-type, and even a few Psychic-type Pokéblocks."

"Psychic-type?" Jiang Yu asked in surprise.

"Larvesta has some latent Psychic potential," his mother explained. "You should train her in that area too. Don't waste her talent. She's the most gifted Pokémon I've ever seen."

Jiang Yu gasped. "High-grade Pokéblocks?!"

In his mind, even mid-grade Pokéblocks were considered top-tier food.

High-grade ones were ridiculously expensive—one box probably cost as much as a family's food expenses for half a year!

---

Pokéblock Quality Rankings:

Poor: Weak energy, bad taste.

Low: Minimal energy, average taste.

Mid: Decent energy, good taste.

High: Strong energy, excellent taste.

Top: Insanely powerful, gourmet flavor.

---

Larvesta, drawn in by the scent of food, rubbed against Xia Shuhua affectionately.

[Mom is the best!]

Xia Shuhua hugged Larvesta. "Jiang Yu, take good care of her."

[Mission accepted!]

Larvesta attempted to raise her front legs in a salute—only to flail helplessly due to her short limbs.

Xia Shuhua burst into laughter.

"Haha! You and your tiny legs!"
