The boy pedaled furiously, not daring to slow down. The sound of his bike's wheels screeching on the wet road was drowned out by the constant flapping of wings behind them. Every time he glanced over his shoulder, the Spearow group was getting closer. Pikachu, perched on the boy's shoulder, launched a Thunder Shock attack every so often, zapping the chasing Spearows and causing them to fall from the sky. But despite Pikachu's best efforts, there were still dozens of Spearow trailing them.
Stephanie clung to the boy's shoulders for dear life, trying to maintain her balance as they sped down the road. She felt helpless. She wanted to send out her Pokémon to help, but the situation was far too chaotic to do so effectively. All she could do was watch the storm of Spearow and hope they could outrun them.
"Pika...Chu——!" Pikachu's voice rang out, followed by another surge of electricity. A Spearow fell from the sky with a screech, but the boy and Stephanie knew they couldn't keep this up for long. The Spearows were relentless, and even though the number had decreased somewhat, more than thirty of them remained hot on their trail.
"How far to Tokiwa City?" The boy's voice was strained, and his breathing was heavy. Sweat dripped down his face as his legs pumped furiously to keep the bike moving.
"It's about 20 kilometers..." Stephanie replied, her voice tight with anxiety. She wasn't exactly sure, but the fishing spot she had been at earlier was at least 30 kilometers away from Tokiwa City. They had already covered some distance, but there was still a long way to go.
"I... I don't know how much longer I can keep this up," the boy admitted, his exhaustion clear. "I've been running, swimming, and now biking. We're both running on empty."
Stephanie bit her lip, not knowing how to help. She had never been in a situation like this before. She thought about her Pokémon, but none of them were strong enough to take on the Spearow alone. They needed to keep going. The rain, which had started to fall heavily, made the situation worse, turning the road slick and the visibility poor.
The thunder rumbled above them, dark clouds swirling ominously in the sky. The rain turned from light drizzle to a torrential downpour. The water pelted their faces, stinging like small pebbles. The boy's hands gripped the handlebars tighter, but the speed was starting to slow. The Spearow were closing in. Stephanie glanced back, her heart sinking as she saw the group was now less than 20 meters away. The rain didn't help their situation, and the Spearow were determined to catch them.
"We can't keep going like this!" the boy exclaimed, his voice laced with panic. "We need to stop, and I need you to release your Pokémon to fight back."
Before Stephanie could respond, the boy slammed on the brakes. The sudden stop sent Stephanie flying forward, crashing into the boy's back. The bike skidded to a halt, blocking the road.
"Pikachu, use your most powerful Thunder Shock!" The boy commanded, his voice filled with urgency.
"Pika!" Pikachu jumped down, his electric energy crackling as the thunder surged around him. In an instant, he released a massive Thunder Shock that hit the closest Spearow directly. The electricity spread out, shocking several other Spearow in its path.
The attack was far more powerful than usual. The rain had increased the conductivity of the air and the birds' wet feathers made them more susceptible to Pikachu's electric moves. Within seconds, five Spearow were incapacitated, falling out of the sky.
Stephanie's heart skipped a beat. She was amazed by the power of Pikachu's attack, but she couldn't afford to relax just yet. She quickly reached into her bag and pulled out two Poké Balls. Tossing them into the air, she released her own Pokémon to help in the battle.
"Staryu, Starmie, please help!" she called out.
As the two Poké Balls burst open, a white light shot out and landed on the ground, revealing the two Water-type Pokémon. Staryu, the star-shaped Pokémon, appeared first, followed by Starmie, the evolved form, which resembled two overlapping stars.

"Staryu, Starmie, use Water Gun!" Stephanie ordered. The two Pokémon immediately responded, their bodies glowing with the power of the Water-type. The rain intensified the effectiveness of their moves, speeding up their energy gathering process.
From Staryu's core gem, a jet of water shot out, striking one of the Spearow and sending it flying. Starmie followed suit, its Water Gun even more powerful, knocking another Spearow out of the air. The rain had turned the battlefield into an advantage for Water-type moves, and the Spearows were being pushed back.
Stephanie watched in awe as her Pokémon held their ground. While Staryu's Water Gun was less powerful, it still made a significant impact, thanks to the rain. Starmie's Water Gun, however, was more forceful and quickly incapacitated another Spearow. In total, four more Spearow had been taken out.
"Great!" Stephanie cheered, feeling a surge of relief. But then, she glanced over at the boy and Pikachu. She had to admit, she was a little dissatisfied. Pikachu's performance was incredible, but her own Pokémon, though they had done well, weren't quite as strong.
"At least it's raining..." the boy muttered, watching the Spearows being knocked down one by one. The rain had made Pikachu's Thunder Shock far more effective than usual, and the Spearows, their feathers heavy with water, were struggling to stay agile.
One by one, the number of attacking Spearow began to dwindle. Although a few managed to fly closer, they were quickly intercepted by Staryu and Starmie. The rain and Pikachu's powerful electric attacks were taking a toll.
Soon, only ten Spearows remained. The once aggressive group had begun to hesitate, hovering nervously in mid-air. The fear in their eyes was apparent.
"Are they... retreating?" the boy asked, watching the Spearows hover in a circle above them.
Stephanie took a cautious step forward, squinting at the birds. It seemed the Spearows had finally realized they were no match for the combined force of Pikachu, Staryu, and Starmie. After a tense moment, the Spearows slowly backed off, keeping their distance but not leaving entirely.
"I think they're calling a truce," the boy said, breathing a sigh of relief.
Stephanie nodded, still cautious. "For now."
With the battle seemingly over, the rain continued to pour down, but the immediate danger had passed. The Spearows remained perched in the air, watching the boy, Stephanie, and their Pokémon, but they didn't attack again.
As the tension melted away, Stephanie looked over at the boy, who was catching his breath. Pikachu, standing proudly beside him, seemed just as relieved.
"That was too close," Stephanie said, her voice shaking slightly. "Thank you for all your help."
The boy smiled, wiping his brow. "No problem. We make a pretty good team."
For a moment, everything was calm. But in the back of Stephanie's mind, she couldn't help but wonder what other challenges awaited them on the road ahead.
