Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Inheritance
The lottery interface was as simple as the others, just two words: "Lottery."
Ash stared at the screen, feeling a bit skeptical. He couldn't shake the feeling that the lottery would yield nothing useful.
"Well, don't judge a book by its cover," he muttered, shaking his head. "Even if it's simple, maybe it'll surprise me. Getting some money wouldn't hurt either." Ash smiled faintly, trying to find a silver lining. After all, it was free, and even a small reward could be helpful.
Considering his current situation, the thought of having some extra money to cover expenses sounded nice—anything to ease Delia's workload and help her.
With that in mind, Ash hesitated for only a moment before pressing the "Lottery" button. The interface shifted, and an image resembling a slot machine appeared before him. Instead of three columns, there was a series of nouns scrolling across the screen.
The first word that caught Ash's eye was "Big Pearl."
"A Big Pearl?!" Ash exclaimed, his heart racing. In the Pokémon world, Big Pearls were valuable items used in various crafts, and they were worth a significant sum. On the market, they could go for around 3,700 yen each.
"If I get a Big Pearl, that would be a huge win!" Ash's excitement grew. 3,700 yen could make a real difference in his life.
However, his optimism quickly faltered as the interface continued to scroll, and the next item that appeared was "Sitrus Berry." Ash barely had time to process that when the list sped up. His eyes strained to keep up with the barrage of items flashing by.
"My eyes are going to fall out..." Ash muttered, feeling overwhelmed. He reached for the "Stop" button and pressed it with urgency.
The interface slowed, and eventually, the items on screen became clear again. Ash's gaze widened as he read through the list: "Icy Rock, Razor Claw, Sun Stone... and even... Z Pure Crystal?!" His mind reeled. These were all rare and powerful items in the Pokémon world.
Z Pure Crystals were especially important, as they enabled Pokémon to use Z-moves, a powerful form of attack. Ash had seen them used before, and now, to have one so easily within his reach—this could be a game-changer.
But then, something even more astonishing appeared.
"Inheritance?!" Ash blinked, unsure of what that could mean. In the Pokémon world, there was no such thing as "inheritance" in the way the system had presented it. Could it be referring to a Pokémon move passed down genetically?
Before he could dwell on it, the lottery interface vanished entirely, and in its place appeared a glowing red orb. Pikachu, startled by the sudden appearance of the orb, let out a shrill cry, causing an electric arc to spark from its fur.
"Pika!" Pikachu instinctively backed away, sensing something ominous about the orb. It was as if the presence of the light was somehow... divine.
Ash, however, didn't feel the same overwhelming sensation. He noticed Pikachu's nervous reaction and quickly reassured his partner. "Don't worry, Pikachu. It's okay."
He extended a hand towards the red orb, curious to learn more about what it might hold. As soon as he touched the orb, a voice, cold and mechanical, echoed in his mind.
"Do you want to use inheritance? Currently available target: Pikachu."
Ash froze, confused by the system's sudden communication. "System? What's going on?" he asked aloud, but the voice remained silent. It repeated its earlier statement, but Ash still had no idea what this inheritance meant.
His concern grew. What if it was something harmful? He wasn't about to risk Pikachu's well-being on something unknown, especially if it could be dangerous.
"System, what exactly is this 'inheritance'?" Ash asked again, but the interface remained unresponsive. Pikachu, sensing its trainer's hesitation, hid behind Ash, trembling with anxiety.
Ash, determined to get to the bottom of this, opened the system's attributes panel. When the panel appeared, the orb's information flashed before his eyes. The details left Ash dumbfounded.
"Legacy: Soaring in the Sky Dragon of Osiris."
Ash's mind raced as he processed the information. "Is this... real?" he thought. The "Soaring in the Sky Dragon" was no ordinary Pokémon. It wasn't even from the Pokémon world—it was a reference to the legendary creatures from Yu-Gi-Oh!, a powerful god-like entity within that universe.
The system's description was clear: the inheritance would greatly enhance Pikachu's abilities, granting it powers associated with the Soaring in the Sky Dragon of Osiris. The abilities listed were:
1. Summon Thunderbolt
2. Superconducting Wave
Ash's jaw dropped. This inheritance could grant Pikachu abilities resembling those of a divine entity. Thunderbolt was one of Pikachu's signature moves, but "Superconducting Wave" sounded far more complex—potentially giving Pikachu access to powers far beyond what it had ever known.
"Wait, what?" Ash stared at the screen, unable to fully grasp what was happening. Was it really possible for Pikachu to inherit the power of one of the three Yu-Gi-Oh! gods?
"That's crazy! Pikachu would be invincible with this power... but can we really do this?" Ash thought for a moment. The power of a god—could Pikachu handle that? Could Ash himself even comprehend the responsibilities that came with such a transformation?
But as the system's words repeated, a new question emerged.
"What if this is just the beginning?" Ash wondered aloud, his thoughts racing. If this was truly a chance to enhance Pikachu's abilities to the level of a legendary Pokémon, would it be enough to catapult him into the upper ranks of Trainers? Could he take on the Elite Four, or even challenge the Champion?
The possibility was almost too much to bear. Ash couldn't help but feel that he was standing on the precipice of something monumental.
Still, the decision weighed heavily on him. While the idea of a Pikachu empowered by the abilities of a Yu-Gi-Oh! god was exciting, Ash knew that such immense power came with a cost. He'd need to think carefully about whether Pikachu was truly ready for such a drastic transformation.
"Let's think this through, Pikachu," Ash said, turning to his partner. Pikachu looked up at Ash, its eyes filled with uncertainty but also trust.
Ash paused for a moment before making his decision. Would he allow Pikachu to inherit the power of the Soaring in the Sky Dragon of Osiris, or would he decline this offer, uncertain of the consequences? Either way, the road ahead would change forever.
