Have a good day :)

...

With that said, we decided to go inside, but not before calling Giselle to tell her that we had already arrived in Celadon City. The reason for the call was to tell her when they were going to come, because if i only have to wait one day, I could wait perfectly; otherwise, I would challenge Erika today and meet with Giselle later.

When I told her about the situation, she told me that the excursion had been delayed a couple of days because her teacher got sick and they had to replace him with a teacher, who apparently had to make a test to the students of another class tomorrow, so the excursion was postponed for two days. Luckily, Erika didn't seem to mind that time change... or at least that's what she told me.

In summary, Giselle told me that although she really wanted to see me battle, it was best for me to battle with Erika today or tomorrow, otherwise, when they arrived I would have to wait another two days since that was the time that the excursion lasted. One day that they would dedicate entirely to listening to Erika's explanations, among other things and the next day that they would leave the students a day off to contemplate the wonders of Celadon City and, obviously, she was not going to waste a day like that, so if I did not battle against Erika today or tomorrow, I would have to wait another three days to be able to battle against her, which I was not going to do because I had plenty of time and I was not tired at all.

Knowing this, we entered the gym where we found ourselves in the same reception as always, only that it was adorned by a lot of diverse flowers that gave off a pleasant smell. There was also another difference and that is that instead of a male receptionist (as we had already found in other gyms), here, it was a girl who attended the reception and she quite pretty... it is simply an observation.

"Can I help you with something?" – asked the girl to see us.

It was a girl who wore a white blouse, chestnut hair down to her shoulders and a blue headband on her head, her eyes were blue to match her headband and she had a smile on her face.

"Good morning, we're here to challenge Erika to a Pokémon battle" – I said with a polite tone.

"Perfect, which of these two beautiful women wants to challenge our gym leader?" – asked the girl.

Eh? I think I heard wrong.

"Excuse me, but I'm the one who is going to battle; they have only come to see me" – I said.

"Oh, then I'm afraid we had a problem" – said the woman.

"A problem? Excuse me, but I don't understand what problem there can be. I have only requested a Pokémon battle against the gym leader" – I said without understanding.

"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that in this gym men are forbidden to battle" said the receptionist.

"Excuse me? What did you just say?" – Celeste asked surprised.

"I don't think I heard her words well. Could you repeat them, please?" – Roxanne nodded.

"This... in this gym only women can battle, but don't worry, there is another gym where men can battle right here, in Celadon City. I can tell you the address of it, besides, don't worry, the badge of that gym is also valid for the Pokémon League" - said the receptionist.

I was going to say something, but suddenly, I felt a chill and when I looked at the girls, I understood, they had both gotten angry and when they got angry... that Arceus will welcome the poor soul that made them angry.

"Excuse me, but we won't leave here until Erika battle with our friend Ash" – Celeste said.

"In addition, according to the rules of the Pokémon League you must accept all the challengers, whether male or female" - Roxanne added.

"Well, in theory it's true, but since in Kanto there are only 8 gyms and this one was only for women, they decided to build another one only for men. Both gyms share the same badge, so there is no problem" – explained the receptionist.

"Hmph, that's just discrimination against men. What kind of stupid rule is that?" – Celeste said angrily.

"That's right, both badges may be valid and even both gyms share the same badge, but it definitely doesn't put anything about you in the rules of the Kanto Pokémon League and don't try to fool me, I've read them from cover to cover" - Roxanne said.

Ehem, it's true, it's not a bluff, in fact she had read them all.

"Well, technically it's true, but no one had complained until now..." – said the receptionist.

That's right, the rules of the Pokémon League didn't say anything about this gym so they didn't treat it as an exception, but as an option that the trainers had. However, until now no one had complained, if a man arrived, the receptionist would simply send him to the other gym politely and that man would gladly accept. No one ever complained.

"Well, now I'm complaining" – Celeste said.

"And I'm complaining too and as someone very versed in the rules of the Pokémon League if you don't accept this challenge, I will have to inform the Pokémon League about the practices that are taking place in the gym of Celadon City" – Roxanne said seriously.

Hearing that, the receptionist started to get nervous and looked at me as if she was saying: Can you please calm them down? To which I shrugged, because this time they were both right.

"Don't worry Carla, let our friends pass. I accept the boy's challenge" – a voice suddenly said.

When we turned, we saw that it was Erika, who had just entered the gym and was wearing her typical kimono. To be more exact, the one she wore in video games.

"But Miss. Erika..." – said the receptionist.

"Our friends here are right, this rule is stupid and you will be happy to know that I was not the one who set that rule" – Erika commented.

"Who was it that put this stupid rule?" – Celeste asked.

"My mother. She believed that men were not worthy of entering this gym full of so much nature. She believed that the primitive nature of men would disturb the peace of this beautiful gym" – Erika replied.

Now I was speechless, and as far as I could tell, the girls agreed with me.

"But don't worry, I'm trying to eliminate that rule, it's just that my mother still has some control over this gym and it's not so easy to get rid of her. But it's a matter of time before this becomes a normal gym" - Erika explained.

"But Miss. Erika, your mother will not be very happy that you let a man into her sanctuary..." – Carla said.

"Times change and so do thoughts. I love my mother, but she must understand that she cannot discriminate people because of their gender. Men may have been brutish and uneducated in their time, but most men today are not like that. Only look at the young man in front of you. Does it seem to you someone brute who would destroy the sanctuary?" – said Erika.

"Well, no, but..." – Carla said.

"Then don't talk anymore, please follow me to the battlefield" – Erika said.

Then, she looked at the receptionist, Carla.

"Carla, do you mind refereeing today? Maria is sick and couldn't come today and Wendy... well, let's just say that in a few days she won't come back here often" – said Erika.

Hmm, what a curious name, Wendy... like that girl from that famous anime.

"Of course, Miss. Erika, go ahead. I will put up a sign for people to wait outside in case someone else comes" – Carla nodded.

Erika nodded and then led us to the battlefield where I would surely win my fourth badge.
