Pokemon: The Lost World

Chapter 3: I knew this was a bad idea.

It's been a few months since my rebirth into this world, and things have mostly settled into a steady rhythm since the field trip.

Lance's speech during that trip left a lasting impression on many of the kids at the orphanage, motivating even those with LOW confidence to prepare for the license test. However, that initial buzz has started to TAPER for most of them. With only two PCs available at the orphanage, it was already challenging for everyone to study effectively. Without a license, we couldn't even head to a Pokémon Center to use their resources, leaving the less-dedicated kid's determination to FADE as the weeks dragged on.

Luckily, the same couldn't be said for Kai, Nya, and me. We've been putting our all into studying for the test, balancing theory with physical training to ensure we're prepared for every aspect. Our morning runs have become a daily ritual, and while Nya initially struggled to keep up, she's now matching our pace.

Kai, on the other hand, has struggled more with the theory portion . While his battle instincts and command of strategies are impressive, the written knowledge required has been a bit of a challenge. I've been teaching him as best as I can, and he's catching on faster than I expected.

My research into this world's Pokémon mechanics has been both enlightening. Many evolutions, like Nidorino's or Murkrow's, haven't been discovered yet. Pokémon that would normally evolve through trading instead evolve through level up here, and Fairy-types haven't been discovered yet. They're referred to as having a "Dragon Slayer" ability, as researchers haven't pinpointed the true cause of their immunity to Dragon-type moves.

Mega evolution and dynamax hasn't been found yet but there are mentions of z-rings in Alola so I'm pretty sure that has been discovered though.

Another discovery was the lack of understanding surrounding Hidden Abilities. Most people here are completely unaware of their existence as it is not Public knowledge, which gives me a massive advantage. By teaching Kai and Nya about these abilities, we can incorporate them into our strategies.

Speaking of Kai and Nya, we decided to qualify for Prof.Oak's lab together and start our journey from there.

Now that is a tall order but they are extremely talented and hard-working and I was sure that with each others help we could get to the top.

I have also been researching Pokemon moves and abilities and I saw that some of them are different. For example a type's immunities can be overwhelmed by sheer strength and shedinja's wonder guard can easily be overwhelmed if not trained properly. To utilize abilities properly Pokemon have to train it for a long time before it gets mastered.

The license test itself consists of three rounds:

1. A Written Test – This evaluates theoretical knowledge about Pokémon, their types, moves, and other fundamentals.

2. An Identification Test – Trainers are required to recognize Pokémon, their typings, and specific characteristics from images or descriptions.

3. A Practical Command Test – This assesses how well a trainer can direct a Pokémon in battle scenarios. Specialized tests are available for those pursuing non-battle careers, such as medical or law enforcement roles.

Since the test is limited to Kanto Pokémon, I am confident about my chances. With my prior knowledge and newfound understanding of this world, acing the first two rounds should be straightforward. The third round will rely heavily on our practical training, but Kai, Nya, and I are making excellent progress.

Aura training turned out to be both an incredible opportunity and an intense challenge. Aura is something most trainers can unlock through rigorous physical and mental conditioning. While it's generally recommended to begin aura training at least a year into one's journey, we decided to start early, knowing the long-term benefits would outweigh the risks.

We could also try to unlock psychic abilities but they are rare and often innate and to unlock them manually you would need a deep understanding of how aura works which isn't exactly easy information to access.

Unlocking aura was… painful to say the least. The process required us to push our bodies and minds to their absolute limits, enduring waves of pain as our energy pathways were forcibly awakened. It wasn't something I would ever want to experience again, but the results were worth it. While we've only scratched the surface of what we can do with aura, the possibilities are thrilling. So far, we've managed basic energy projection and heightened senses, but it's clear there's soo much more to find.

————————————————————————————————————

To fund our journey, the three of us took on odd jobs around Viridian City. We spent hours delivering packages, cleaning homes, and helping out with various errands, each of us earning 100 Poké for every four hours of work. Over two months, we managed to save a decent amount of money, though we're still working toward our goal. We're determined to ensure we have enough funds, even if we don't secure a sponsorship from Professor Oak.

These jobs have been more than just a source of income—they've helped us build strength and endurance as we hustle around town. Every task, no matter how small, feels like a step closer to our goal.

As the weeks turned into months, our bond grew stronger. Kai's competitive nature, Nya's strategic mind, and my prior knowledge and determination made us an unstoppable team. We've set our sights high: qualifying for Professor Oak's lab and beginning our journey together. It's a daunting goal, but with each other's support, I know we can make it.

Now, with half a year left until the license test, our training has entered a new phase. Our aura abilities are becoming more refined, and we're experimenting with how they can be integrated into Pokémon battles. The road ahead is long, but every challenge we overcome only fuels our resolve.

———————————————————————————————————-

It was a day like any other…..We 3 were just delivering a few potions when we saw a few people running towards a white van and giving what looked like pokeballs to the driver and them getting in the back.

"Guys wait….I think we should follow them. I have a bad feeling about them." Kai said abruptly.

"Umm….I don't think that's good idea, and what if you're wrong? They may just be regular people and we might bet scolded by the our boss if we're late in delivering" Nya said logically.

"You know what. Let's take Kai's route on this one and follow them for a few minutes. If they are really bad-then we can call officer Jenny. If not then we go back like nothing ever happened" I reasoned as I was pretty bored.

"Fine but make it quick" Nya said impatiently.

We quietly followed them on our bicycles and saw them heading towards Viridian forest.

We had going for around 10 minutes and were lucky that the van was driving slowly but we were starting to grow impatient.

Not long after though we saw an abandoned building which we had never seen before.

"Guys—I think there actually may be something serious going on. I have never seen this building before and we should go back" Nya said nervously.

"Come on, let's just see what they're doing then we will call Officer Jenny" I said arrogantly.

We slowly entered the building and saw a 'R' in red color on one of the walls of the building.

My eyes widened unconsciously—we were in a Team Rocket Hideout!

"I think we should go now—This is a Team Rocket BASE." I said quickly.

Just as we were about leave we saw that they were coming back so we quickly ducked behind some barrels and watched from a distance and tried to make an exit plan.

Right as we were in clear—I saw Pokemon locked in CAGES.

There were many Pokemon from other regions and they looked like they had been starved. This was probably a smuggling operation.

We were all twitching angrily at their cruelty and tried to make a plan to get the Pokemon out as well.

"We can't leave without them. So we should wait till they go out or something. Then we call the Police then we break out all the Pokemon and run for our lives." Nya's Plan.

We both looked at her weirdly because of how quick she changed her attitude then we accepted the plan.

We only had to wait 30 minutes for them to leave for a lunch break except 1 person to guard the Pokemon. We heard him grumbling about it and when they left he instantly went to sleep.

He had the keys to all the cages so I went out sneakily and tried to steal them but I realized that was dumb and we could get caught easily so I picked up a metal bar and him his head at full force. I wasn't really sure if he was unconscious or dead as there was a lot of blood flowing out but I didn't really care because he deserved it.

Then the stench hit us and made us want to vomit. I quickly pocketed the keys while Nya called the Police through the phone that she had saved up Money for.

We then proceeded to open all the cages and started to run as we heard them coming back.

There was a subdued Charizard among them and a few other Pokemon that instantly fought the Rocket members and both us and the rest of the Pokemon time. We led them away from the forest as the police finally reached.

We briefly explained the situation and they ran to apprehend the members while they put a rookie officer back to interrogate us and a few others to return the Pokemon back to their habitats and old trainers. She scolded us for doing something so foolish and that we should have called the police instantly instead of when we did.

They did provide us with a large monetary sum of 50k pokedollars each as they had been trying to capture them for a while now.

We were sent back to the orphanage where we got an even bigger scolding from the matron and were grounded until the license test.

We were pretty miffed about it but we were glad that we could save those Pokemon and the money ment that we would not have to worry about not working for a while.

Just as we were about to get ready for bed we saw 3 Pokemon that we had saved before.

I was shocked as one of the Pokemon was a charcadet—a Pokemon exclusive to the Paldea region and one of my favorite Pokemon from my past life.

The other 2 were equally as good a Froakie and a Deino.

The Froakie went to hug Nya, while the charcadet went towards Kai and deino came to me nuzzling its head.

"Hey there, little guy. Are you saying you want to come with me?" Nya asked excitedly

"Frooo!" It chirped happily, nuzzling into her shoulder.

Meanwhile, the Charcadet walked boldly up to Kai.

Kai said while kneeling down "You've got some serious spirit, don't you? Is that why you're here? You want me to be your trainer?"

"Charca..cadet" it said firmly, small flames flickering from its hands.

Kai grinned "Alright then. Let's see if we make a good team."

And then there was Deino. Unlike the others, it approached me cautiously, sniffing me then gently biting as it was blind then I held out a hand, and after a moment, it leaned in and nuzzled its head into my palm.

"You're a Deino. A Dragon-type. You're incredible." I said softly

"De…ino" chirping quietly, its head nudging into my chest now.

"You want me to take care of you, don't you?"

Nya then turned to look at us both "I think they're trying to tell us something. They want to come with us."

Kai nodded "Yeah. They've chosen us."

"I guess we're their trainers now." I said
