Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Heading to the Alola Region
**Chapter 5: Heading to the Alola Region**
**Pokémon:** Sylveon
**Level:** 29
**Gender:** Female
**Height:** 100 cm
**Weight:** 23.5 kg
**Ability:** Cute Charm
**Skills:** Yawn (inherited), Helping Hand, Growl, Tackle, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Fake Tears, Agility, Swift, Fairy Wind, Draining Kiss, Skill Swap, Misty Terrain
Sylveon is currently at level 29 and has just learned the move Misty Terrain. With this upgrade, Sylveon can prevent any abnormal status conditions from affecting her for five rounds. Additionally, the effectiveness of Dragon-type moves used against her is reduced by half. This makes her well-prepared for the challenges ahead in the Alola Region.
Especially after seeing the Flygon sent out by Flint, Ronaldinho almost laughed out loud. After all, the Fairy type hadn't been mentioned yet, and no one knew that the Fairy type is immune to Dragon-type moves.
Flint withdrew Houndour and sent out Flygon, saying, "Ronaldinho, you have a strong understanding of skills and are very good at training Pokémon. Your strength is impressive, so I have to be more serious. This Pokémon is one I captured while traveling in the Hoenn region, and it's very powerful. Even if your two Pokémon lose to it, I will still give you the badge. Let's start; you should attack first."
Seeing Flint's pretentious demeanor, as if he were invincible, Ronaldinho rolled his eyes and said, "Then let everyone see your strength, Sylveon! Misty Terrain!"
As Sylveon stepped onto the ground, a stream of fairy energy immediately turned the entire rock field pink. Flint couldn't figure out what this move did, so he commanded, "Flygon, use Dragon Breath!"
"Halt, and use Skill Swap," Ronaldinho smiled.
(Note: "Skill Swap" allows the user to employ its psychic power to exchange abilities with the foe.)
Flygon is a Dragon and Ground type with the ability to Levitate. The Fairy type is immune to Dragon moves, and Levitate is immune to Ground-type moves. It can be said that Sylveon effectively nullified both of Flygon's offensive attributes. Even if Flygon possesses other skill sets, it essentially has no way to knock out Sylveon quickly. Sylveon also has the recovery skill Draining Kiss, making it nearly invincible.
As Ronaldinho had anticipated, after the abilities were exchanged, Sylveon's ability changed to Levitate, which was Flygon's. Flint completely abandoned any Ground-type skills, and observing that Sylveon was barely harmed after resisting Dragon Breath, he mistakenly assumed that Sylveon had high health. The Ultra Sonic waves were also eliminated by the Misty Field. Only Dragon Breath and Rock-type moves could wear down Sylveon's health.
However, Sylveon did recover health using Draining Kiss and ultimately defeated Flygon.
"Flygon has lost its ability to fight, so the winner of this gym competition is Ronaldinho from Pallet Town!" Brock announced. Flint's face flushed red, realizing he had been thoroughly outmatched.
After a dry cough, Flint said, "Well, congratulations on your victory, Ronaldinho. Here's your Gray Badge. By the way, can you tell me more about this Sylveon? It's a very powerful Pokémon."
Ronaldinho accepted the badge, placed it into his backpack, squatted down to pet Sylveon's head, and explained, "Sylveon is an evolved form of Eevee with a new type, which I call the Fairy type. The Fairy type is completely immune to Dragon-type damage and deals double damage to Dragon types. I plan to share this information with Professor Oak later, and I hope he can help me apply for some subsidies."
Upon hearing that the Fairy type is immune to Dragon-type moves, Flint felt as if he might choke. He reflected on the battle and realized he had lost because he sent out Flygon. With the immunity of the Fairy type and the Levitate ability, Flygon simply couldn't defeat Sylveon swiftly.
Flint shook his head and suddenly felt old.
Ash and his group approached excitedly, eager to ask questions. Ronaldinho thought they had already answered most of them. Ash invited Ronaldinho to travel with him, but Ronaldinho immediately declined, holding up his plane ticket. "I won the special prize! I'll call Professor Oak later and fly directly to the Alola region for vacation. Let's meet again next time if there's a chance," he said.
After saying that, he left promptly. Traveling with this trio, while enticing with the promise of rare Pokémon encounters, also meant more trouble, so it was better to avoid them if possible.
After returning to the Pokémon Center to let Sylveon rest, Ronaldinho called Professor Oak. He informed him about Sylveon and the Fairy type Pokémon, hoping that Professor Oak could apply for subsidies from the Pokémon League to at least renovate the shabby house that Pallet Town had provided for him.
Professor Oak agreed immediately and suggested that Ronaldinho send Sylveon to him for observation.
Next, Ronaldinho mentioned he would take the Pokémon on vacation and would discuss everything further next time. He took several photos of Sylveon and sent them to Professor Oak. He also updated him about several Pokémon in the Kanto region and advised him to study them himself.
At noon, Ronaldinho had lunch at the Pokémon Center. After lunch, he headed to the airport. He boarded the plane, which took off and flew to the Alola region.
The next morning, the plane landed at the airport on Akala Island. A special car then took Ronaldinho to the Hano Grand Hotel. He opened the presidential suite on the top floor and released his three Pokémon, who were already impatient. The large suite didn't require them to stay in their Poké Balls.
After changing into swimming trunks and donning a pair of large beach pants, he went to the beach, quickly attracting the attention of many beautiful ladies. It was not Ronaldinho who caught their eye, but Sylveon. Its adorable appearance drew a crowd of admirers. Watching a large group of women in bikinis sway in front of him, Ronaldinho couldn't help but give Sylveon a thumbs up.
He let his Pokémon move freely while Beedrill and Sylveon ran to the beach chairs to bask in the sun. Sylveon was popular for its cuteness, and Beedrill also garnered attention because of its shiny appearance. Only Charmeleon, dressed in a small beach suit, stayed close to Ronaldinho.
Ronaldinho gently patted Charmeleon on the head. After all, Charmeleon was his original Pokémon, and they shared a strong bond. He then went to the area where Lapras (Dragon) could be rented for an Alola-style ride. He brought along his super fishing rod since, in the anime, the waters around Alola were rich with Pokémon that could be caught, making the rod quite handy.
While riding Lapras away from the beach, Charmeleon spotted a school of fish swimming beneath the surface and instinctively reached out with its claws to catch them. The fish immediately scattered, fleeing from Charmeleon's grasp.
Ronaldinho noticed it was just a school of regular fish, so he overlooked it. In the world of Pokémon, there are also ordinary animals. After all, humans can't consume Pokémon, even if they are edible like Farfetch'd.
He attaches a Pokémon food to the hook of his super fishing rod. This hook is not an ordinary fish hook; it is shaped like a Magikarp, which is said to be able to latch onto the mouth of a Pokémon and catch it.
He casts the hook into the water, and within ten seconds, the fishing line becomes taut. Ronaldinho immediately jerks the rod to reel in the line, and a Wishiwashi is pulled up. He shakes his head, gently takes down the Wishiwashi, and puts it back into the sea.
The Schooling ability of Wishiwashi is quite strong, but they are somewhat ineffective on their own. A large number of Wishiwashi must gather to form a school, and one alone cannot do so.
He places another Pokémon food on the fish hook, casts it back into the water, and waits for the next Pokémon to take the bait.
