Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Ethan Really is a Scumbag

However, Ethan acted as if he hadn't noticed anything.

He continued to speak casually with a confident smile.

"Like how I lie in bed every day playing on my phone while my girlfriend cooks for me."

"Or how I just ask her for money when I run out. If she refuses, I curse at her."

"I even spend her money taking other girls out to have fun."

"Since her parents are against our marriage, I'm planning to get her pregnant so they'll have no choice but to agree. By then, I'll take control of her family's wealth."

Gideon stood next to him, listening in utter disbelief.

He stared at Ethan, his eyes slowly filling with anger.

A person like this was the scum of the earth, the lowest of the low.

Whoever ended up with someone like him must have been cursed with terrible luck.

Thinking of this, Gideon's gaze softened with pity as he looked at the ponytailed girl working in the store.

When he saw her whispering to Ethan earlier, the middle-aged man immediately assumed she was Ethan's girlfriend.

That poor child…

Gideon sighed inwardly, full of regret.

Although the ponytailed girl wasn't as stunning as Elena, she was still a charming and delicate beauty.

A young, vibrant girl like her should have been living a happy and carefree life.

Instead, she had fallen into the clutches of a scumbag.

Gideon decided that once Elena returned, he would tell her everything and make sure the ponytailed girl stayed far away from this beast.

Despite his growing disgust, Gideon dared not confront Ethan directly.

So, forcing a strained smile, he held onto a faint shred of hope: "So, are you here to pick up your girlfriend after work?"

"Huh? No way. That woman didn't give me any money today, so I'm here to cause a scene at her workplace…"

Ethan hadn't even finished speaking when Gideon's face darkened in fury. He couldn't hold back any longer and raised his arm. "You son of a—"

Before he could land a punch, Ethan suddenly pointed into the distance.

"Look, my wife's here."

Gideon paused, his expression gloomy, but instinctively turned to look.

In the next second, his face froze.

Elena was rushing over angrily, her bright eyes glaring at him.

In the past, Gideon might have misinterpreted her expression as jealousy. But now, all he felt was panic.

And finally, under his despairing gaze, Ethan greeted Elena with a smile and pulled her into a hug.

Elena was completely taken aback.

As she climbed the stairs, she saw Gideon raising his hand as if to hit Ethan, so she quickly rushed over to stop him.

Thankfully, he hadn't actually hit him.

"Elena… is this man really your boyfriend?" Gideon asked in disbelief.

Boyfriend?

What was he talking about?

Where did she get a boyfriend from?

Elena was confused at first.

But when Ethan, standing with his back to Gideon, winked at her, she quickly caught on.

She guessed that Ethan must have learned from somewhere that Gideon was pursuing her and had come to play the role of her shield.

Since they were now in the same boat, Elena naturally wouldn't expose him.

However, she still rolled her eyes at him in annoyance.

"Of course. Why? I told you I had a boyfriend before, but you didn't believe me."

Elena quickly switched to her usual cold and aloof demeanor in front of others.

Ethan couldn't help but feel his heart flutter at her performance.

"How could you date him?!" Gideon was practically exploding with rage.

He never expected the "pitiful woman" Ethan had mentioned earlier to be his beloved goddess.

Even though it was over 30 degrees outside, Gideon felt as if he were plunged into the icy depths of winter.

The thought of his dream goddess cooking for another man, dressing him, feeding him, and even naively working hard to earn money for him while Ethan fooled around with other women made his blood boil.

His face twisted in fury, and for a moment, he wanted nothing more than to tear Ethan apart.

"Why can't I date him? Do you get to decide if he's good for me?" Although it was all just an act, Ethan was still her brother, and Elena wasn't about to let someone insult him.

"Elena, he's a complete scumbag!"

Seeing that Elena was still defending him, Gideon grew even more anxious and glared at Ethan furiously.

"You bastard, stay away from Elena!"

As he said that, he raised his fist again, ready to punch Ethan.

Elena was truly angry now.

She immediately spread her arms, blocking Ethan.

"You're insane! Enough already! Security, someone's causing trouble here!"

Elena was quite well-known in the department store.

Many people had gone to great lengths just to win her favor.

Seeing her call for help now, several nearby shop owners and security guards rushed over, surrounding Gideon with hostile expressions.

Gideon took a step back, his face pale.

Seeing the dependence and protectiveness in Elena's eyes, he knew deep down that he had lost.

But still.

Gideon wasn't willing to give up. He firmly believed that Elena had been deceived by Ethan's sweet words.

He was determined to be the hero who would save his goddess from this devil.
