"Thank you for your hard work, Eevee. Please take a rest now."

At seven o'clock sharp, Tyson woke up as scheduled, gently stroking Eevee's soft head with care.

Yawning, Eevee nuzzled against Tyson's hand before obediently returning to its Poké Ball for some well-earned rest.

To ensure their safety in the wild, Tyson had established a routine: he and his Pokémon—Charmeleon and Eevee—took turns keeping watch, each covering four-hour shifts. This allowed all of them just enough time to recover their energy for the challenges ahead.

After a brief respite, Tyson resumed his activities.

This marked Tyson's third day traversing the dense forest.

Over the past few days, Tyson had observed the general strength of the wild Pokémon in the area. Most were at the Competent Level and Excellent Levels. However, he hadn't yet ventured into the forest's center, suspecting that stronger Pokémon—perhaps at the Advanced level or even Elite Level—might inhabit that region.

The vastness of the forest made encounters with others rare, and the lack of human activity only heightened the sense of isolation. However, the abundance of fruit trees had been a fortunate find. The edible fruits ensured Tyson didn't need to urgently search for additional food or water sources.

While walking, Tyson encountered another wild Rattata—a common sight due to their prolific breeding.

This Rattata was different, though; its damp fur hinted at the presence of water nearby.

Following the Rattata's trail in the opposite direction, Tyson soon heard the faint sound of flowing water. Tracking the sound, he discovered a clear stream surrounded by thriving fruit trees laden with ripe, red fruit.

Tyson crouched low, opting to observe from a hidden vantage point.

Time passed, and Tyson watched as wild Pokémon came and went, either to drink from the stream or feast on the fruits. Despite occasional territorial posturing, the Pokémon seemed to maintain an unspoken peace around the water source, likely to avoid disrupting its vital supply.

Once he was confident no other humans were around, Tyson prepared to collect water.

Before he could act, the nearby bushes rustled, and a man accompanied by an Arbok emerged. The pair moved efficiently, fetching water and gathering fruit with practiced ease.

Intrigued, Tyson watched them leave and decided to tail them from a safe distance.

Unaware of being followed, the man—Rudy—eventually reached an open clearing where a cave served as his makeshift base. Its elevated position provided a clear view of the surroundings, offering ample warning of approaching threats. Nearby, the stream and fruit trees ensured a steady supply of food and water.

Tyson also noticed that Rudy had removed his tracking device and placed it elsewhere, likely to avoid detection—a clever move.

Rather than confront Rudy immediately, Tyson chose to return to the stream. He filled his water bottle, gathered fruits, and stashed them in his space-capable backpack before heading back to stake out Rudy's base.

After finally encountering another person, Tyson wasn't about to let him escape easily.

Inside the cave, Rudy sat comfortably, casually glancing at his detector.

"Poor Sap. I wonder who he ticked off to end up here," Rudy muttered, smirking.

Unlike others, Rudy had no grand ambitions. He was content with surviving and passing the trial, avoiding unnecessary conflict. In his mind, lying low and waiting for an easy target to stumble into his territory was the safest strategy.

But as Rudy wandered into the forest on a routine patrol, a pair of watchful eyes filled with cold determination locked onto him.

Before Rudy could sense danger, a wave of drowsiness washed over him. He staggered, barely managing to shake off the overwhelming fatigue.

Unfortunately for Rudy, the slight delay was all Tyson needed.

A blur of white light streaked toward Rudy as Eevee used Quick Attack, striking him with precision. Stumbling from the blow, Rudy barely had time to react before Eevee followed up with a coordinated Double-Edge, rendering him unconscious.

Nearby, Rudy's Arbok was blindsided by Charmeleon's Flamethrower. Startled and in pain, the Arbok struggled to retaliate but was relentlessly barraged by Charmeleon's rapid-fire Ember.

As Charmeleon and Eevee overwhelmed Arbok, Tyson moved swiftly. He secured Rudy's Poké Balls, recalled the incapacitated Arbok into its ball, and locked it.

Dragging the unconscious Rudy back to his cave, Tyson prepared for interrogation.

With no formal training in such methods, Tyson resorted to intimidation, wielding the dagger Rudy had been carrying. His threats worked, and Rudy revealed everything he knew in a desperate bid for mercy.

True to his word, Tyson ended Rudy's suffering swiftly.

The familiar chime of the system rang in Tyson's mind.

"Mission complete. 100 points awarded."

The notification filled Tyson with a sense of accomplishment, quelling any lingering discomfort from the act. Instead, he felt a growing resolve to continue, eager to claim more points and further secure his survival.
