Pokemon: Rising From The Dark

Chapter 164: I Need an Explaination

The staff of the Hunter's Guild handled things very efficiently, and soon it was Aoki's turn.

"May I help you?" The staff member said with a professional smile on his face.

"I want to match the task," Aoki said naturally and took out a bunch of Pokéballs from his pocket, which were either filled with Sharpedo or Carvanha, as well as a few Venomoth and some other miscellaneous Pokémon, about fifteen in total.

They were placed directly on the teleporter of the Pokéballs and were teleported away one by one.

"Please show your Hunter ID card," the staff continued to say while sending Aoki's Pokéballs away.

Aoki handed over his Hunter ID card through the glass window.

"Honorable three-star hunter, please wait a moment, the task matching is in progress," the staff said with the same professional smile.

Hearing her words, Aoki nodded.

But the Kaitou standing behind suddenly became restless.

Did they hear correctly just now? What the staff member just said was, the honorable three-star hunter?

That crazy guy is just a three-star hunter?

Kaitou members felt like they had taken a heavy blow.

Was this lunatic really just a three-star hunter?

So what was the point of forming a hunting group?

Three-star hunters aren't even qualified to create a team, right?

Damn it, this lunatic even asked me to be his deputy team leader. After all this time, he isn't even a four-star hunter. So why did he call me here?!

Suddenly, the Kaitou's expression froze.

This lunatic is only a three-star hunter now. But the task of capturing Absol requires four stars to be accepted!

In other words, he never actually received the task of capturing Absol before?

Did I just hand him a mission for nothing?

Even though that mission wasn't completed, he still used the Absol mother and child to threaten me.

It seems like what he really wanted was to make me the deputy leader of his hunting group.

Suddenly, the Kaitou felt a deep sense of being manipulated.

I feel like a fool, being played around by this guy.

The Kaitou's expression suddenly turned cold. If it weren't for the fact that he would be hunted down by the Hunter's Guild, the Kaitou felt like his blade was already itching to strike.

Silently standing behind Aoki, waiting for him to complete the task matching.

She needed an explanation, and if this explanation wasn't satisfactory, then the next time they met, even if they weren't enemies, she would never acknowledge this lunatic again!

Aoki also waited silently, knowing full well that the Kaitou would go mad when they found out he was only a three-star hunter.

But they were still quiet now. It seemed their patience was better than expected.

The corners of his mouth slightly lifted. They were probably fuming inside.

Soon, the analysis of all the data on the fifteen Pokémon was completed, and the tasks were matched according to Aoki's current star rating. The system attempted to match each Pokémon with the highest-paying task and ensure that every Pokémon was assigned a task.

"Hello, all fifteen Pokémon have been retrieved and matched, and all the task lists have been displayed. Please check and see if you need to make any adjustments."

A computer screen dedicated to hunters showed the tasks assigned to all the Pokémon Aoki had captured.

Among them, the highest reward was for the Sharpedo with dark green aptitude. Not only because of its dark green aptitude but also because most Sharpedo live in the ocean and travel in packs, making them much harder to capture.

However, the task reward for a single Sharpedo wasn't much different from the task reward for two green-aptitude Sharpedo.

Aoki frowned and asked, "Why is there only such a small difference in the rewards between the high-level, high-aptitude Sharpedo and the high-level, mid-aptitude Sharpedo?"

The staff nodded politely and explained,

"Because your hunter level is three stars, you can only match the highest rewards for catching Sharpedo within these limitations, so the rewards are similar. If you were promoted to a four-star hunter, the rewards would be significantly higher."

Hearing her explanation, Aoki understood that, ultimately, his hunter level wasn't high enough.

"Then assign tasks for the remaining fourteen Pokémon first, and hold off on the high-level Sharpedo for now," Aoki said.

"Please wait a moment." The staff operated the system according to Aoki's request.

One by one, the matching tasks were completed, and all rewards were transferred to Aoki's identity card.

"Hello, the tasks have been submitted, and you have earned a total of 4.6 million points and 4.6 million Pokecoins. According to the guild's ranking system, your hunter points have now reached 11.1 million. Congratulations, you are now promoted to a four-star hunter. Here is your Hunter Medal. Please keep it safe."

The staff took out a golden star and handed it to Aoki.

Two green-aptitude Sharpedo were worth nearly two million, not to mention a single green-aptitude Carvanha, plus eleven light green-aptitude Pokémon. Even if each of them was worth two to three hundred thousand, that still added up to nearly two million. So in Aoki's estimation, this was more than enough to reach four-star hunter status, especially without including the dark green-aptitude Sharpedo.

Aoki put the star in his pocket and said, "Now match me with that high-level Sharpedo."

Only by matching the Sharpedo with dark green aptitude could he truly receive its full value.

Soon, the matching was completed.

On the display, Aoki could clearly see the corresponding task rewards for the Sharpedo.

Two million hunter points plus two million Pokecoins!

This was the expected value of a fully evolved, dark green-aptitude Pokémon.

In reality, selling it privately could yield an even higher price, but the Hunter's Guild doubled the value when matching tasks. So if a task could be matched, it was always more profitable to submit it to the guild.

Aoki immediately submitted the Sharpedo.

In truth, the strength of this Sharpedo was not weak, but since it could only move effectively in water, its combat abilities on land would be mediocre without training. Aoki had no intention of keeping it to bolster his team's strength.

Once sold, these Sharpedo would most likely end up in the private aquariums of the wealthy as exotic pets.

This time, Aoki had earned a total of 6.6 million hunter points and 6.6 million Pokecoins, and his hunter ranking had officially risen to four stars. This meant he now had access to a wider variety and higher level of Pokémon for purchase.

Aoki picked up his Hunter ID card and left his seat.

Then, he noticed the Kaitou silently following behind him, leaving the queue together.

Aoki found a secluded corner table and sat down, with the Kaitou taking a seat across from him.

"I need an explanation." Her voice was cold.
