Chapter 22: Hoenn - Dewford
Ash, "Great now ariel ace."
Brawly, "Oh ho! The little one learned such a powerful move. Machop we cannot disappoint. Time to use dynamic punch."
Machop, "Machop."
Taillow, "Taillow!"
Both Pokemon moved deciding to end this fight and the dynamic punch and aerial ace hit both targets making them fall. Taillow and Machop hissed from the pain of the hit on their bodies, they were focused on hitting the opponent and had not put up any form of defence. Taillow got up though he staggered a little bit which was followed by Machop who was rubbing his front feeling like he was hit by a hammer. It was not exactly the nicest feeling in the world but Machop was not one to give up easily and faced Taillow. However before either Pokemon could take the next step Machop fainted from exhaustion.
Referee, "Machop has fainted Taillow has won the first round."
Taillow have a happy chirping before falling, "Taillow!"
Ash rushed to the flying type, "Taillow, are you ok?"
Taillow saluted, "Tai."
Ash chuckled, "You did really well. Sorry but Taillow is done for the battle."
Brawly, "Hmmm.. You are very conscious about your Pokemon."
Ash, "I mean after everything with Team Rocket especially stalking us literally back in Jhoto, you know."
Brawly frowned but nodded, "I understand."
Ash, "Return Taillow, you were amazing get some rest."
Taillow chirped as he returned, "Low."
Gou, "That was good."
Max, "Yeah, Taillow has been training hard the last few days. The fact that he was able beat a Gym level Pokemon shows how far he came."
Molly, "Yeah, we trained together too and I had a bit of hard time keeping up myself."
May, "Understatement, hey Ruby, you are being quiet."
Ruby, "Hmm... Do not worry about it. I just have a few thoughts in my head. I will tell you about it later."
Gou, "Alright, what do you think about this battle?"
Ruby hummed, "Taillow is doing really well aside from the low stamina. That can be worked on with time and patience."
May, "True, my Honchkrow had low stamina in the beginning but he was so stubborn and hell bent on keeping me safe. I feared he will turn into a second mom, human and all you know?"
Molly, "Um... I hope that does not happen."
Max, "Yeah sis, that is a very disturbing thought to think about. Can you imagine my Breloom turning into another Dad? It would be so awkward to keep on travelling if that ever happened."
Gou, "Well they parent us enough without even turning into human so. It does not matter in my opinion."
"Yeah."
Ash looked at Brawly, "Is there something wrong?"
Brawly, "Not important at the moment. In fact, come talk to me later after the Gym battles are done."
Ash blinked, "Okay, we can do that. Shall we continue the Gym battle?"
Brawly, "Of course, Referee, if you would."
Referee, "Right, the challenger has one victory under his belt. Just one more victory and the challenger will win the badge. Now, choose your next Pokemon. Gym leader will go first."
Brawly, "Let's go Makuhita."
Makuhita, "Kuhi."
Ash, "I choose you Treecko."
Treecko, "Ko."
Referee, "Begin!"
Brawly, "Arm thrust!"
Ash, "Pound."
Both Treecko and Makuhita attacked and the two Pokemon were pushing against each other trying to push the other down though both were stubborn. The two fighters separated after a few seconds of stubbornly pushing at each other and started to circle each other. They were eyeing each other and Treecko had a predatory gaze on his face though with Makuhita Ash could not tell what the fighting type was thinking. The two then attacked again with Ash calling for energy ball and Brawly called for a focus punch. Makuhita and Treecko got back to battling again and Makuhita started to throw punches which Treecko dodged and moved using his nimble movements.
Ash eyed the movements then, "Do it now, Treecko."
Treecko released the energy ball, "Ko."
Makuhita saw the attack and covered his face with his arms, "Hita!"
Brawly, "Makuhita are you alright?"
Makuhita shook his hands, "Hita."
Brawly, "Nice, let's get back to the battle."
Ash, "You good to go, Treecko."
Treecko, "Ko."
Ash, "Perfect we are just getting started."
Brawly, "Took the words right out of my mouth. Makuhita close combat, let's test this grass type for real."
Ash, "Treecko use detect to read his movements and double team to dodge the attack."
Treecko gave a shrill agreement and used detect on Makuhita while Makuhita started to close in using close combat. Treecko used his doubles to avoid the attacks thrown at him and attacked back using bullet seed instead which got an annoyed grunt from Makuhita. Treecko was not holding back and kept attacking the fighting type using bullet seed making him falter from the attacks. But he was not one to go down that easily and was observing the attacks very closely and then attacked. Treecko went on the defense using quick guard to protect himself from the barrage of punches and attacks.
Ash, "Double team Treecko."
Brawly called, "No you don't, Makuhita after him. Do not let the grass type escape."
Makuhita, "Makuhita!"
Treecko tched, "Tre."
Ash, "Use trail blazer Treecko, get some distance first."
Treecko nodded and started to rush using trail blazer to avoid attacks from Makuhita while looking for an opening to attack. His stamina was starting to run out and he knew he would have to be very precise while attacking his opponent. If he missed his mark, he would be in a lot of trouble and so he focused on observing while keeping a distance from the attacks. Makuhita kept going after Treecko very stubbornly despite the fact Treecko kept on staying out of his reach. Ash was watching the two very closely his eyes focused on searching for a chance to attack back.
Ash, "Now Treecko use pound."
Brawly, "We are not going down that easily, Makuhita use seismic toss."
Makuhita went to grab Treecko but Treecko dodged the grabbing hands and used pound on Makuhita. Makuhita grunted and turned his seismic toss into a focus punch that he sent towards Treecko. The grass type grunted from the attack hitting him and both Pokemon fell from the hits they received from the other. Makuhita was no longer smiling as he held his shoulder and head up just like Treecko who was holding his front and glaring at his opponent. After a few seconds both Pokemon fell unconscious to the ground which started the count down for them to get up.
Referee, "Neither Makuhita nor Treecko can get up. This match is a draw. Would you like to carry on with the Gym battle?"
Ash, "Yes obviously, my Pokemon want a proper victory."
Referee, "Very well please choose your next Pokemon."
Brawly chuckled, "You know most challengers just accept the win and take the badge instead of going for a third badge."
Ash, "Well my Pokemon would riot if I could let them battle but refused."
Brawly laughed at that, "I see, I see. Well then let's do this. Hariyama!"
Ash, "Well Lucario you have been wishing to battle in Gym for a while now."
Lucario, -About time if you ask me.-
Brawly, "Oh ho! This will be fun. Ready Hariyama?"
Referee, "Begin!"
Ash, "Detect!"
Brawly, "Force palm."
The two fighting type Pokemon jumped into the fight and started to attack and exchange blows while both sides endured the attacks that landed on them. Hariyama hummed in contemplation as he eyed his opponent, the Lucario was definitely a Pokemon at higher level, a Champion to be specific. It made Hariyama excited to battle as it has been a while since he went toe to toe with another high level Pokemon. Hariyama grinned and then his eyes glowed with bulk up increasing his strength and Lucario himself was glowing blue with aura. And then without their trainers saying anything bothering Pokemon started fighting each other using close combat.
Ash observed the fight especially his Lucario who was very excited about letting his full power loose on another powerful Pokemon and not hold back. Ash felt his lips stretch into a grin the excitement and rush of the fight flowing into him through the aura bond he had with Lucario. They had been working on increasing their Aura strength and control together and now Lucario's cloak was in the form of an armor. It looked very similar to the armor that the knights in the fairy tale books he would read before and honestly Ash got inspired by it. He focused back on the fight when he saw the two break the field and by break he meant creak it down middle.
Brawly, "Hot diggydi dang."
Ash, "Ooops! Sorry about that."
Brawly, "Nah! Do not fret, change the field."
The referee nodded and sent a message to the Gym technician and a few seconds later the field changed. Lucario hummed beside Ash as they waited for the field to change into a new one that they could use. The Aura Pokemon had told Ash he had been wanting to challenge S - rank Pokemon again and was hoping to challenge another in an official capacity. Ash had taken that request and checked which Gyms allowed the battle between S - rank Pokemon and he found four and Dewford Gym was one of them.
Brawly, "Now then, shall we continue?"
Ash grinned, "Hell yeah we are going to continue."
Lucario jumped on to the new rocky field, -I am ready.-
Hariyama nodded, "Hari."
Brawly stared, "Did Lucario self - heal?"
Ash, "Yeah, a very convenient side effect of having an active Aura. You should know considering Hariyama has a strong Aura too."
Brawly smirked, "That is correct. What fun!"
Referee, "Continue the battle."
Ash, "Agility and bone rush."
Brawly, "Endure and prepare to use force palm."
Lucario brought down his attack just as Hariyama used force palm which made a wave of Aura go through the field. Gou gasped as he had not felt this Aura in a while and felt giddy while May, Max and Molly watched the fight in awe. Ruby who was more used to these types of battles watched the grin on both battling Pokemon and could not help but snort. Fighting type Pokemon were something else, it was a miracle Lucario did not jump Ash the last few weeks because of lack of motivation. There were a lot of cases where fighting type Pokemon left their trainers after a lack of stimulation and fights.
Lucario, -You are strong.-
Hariyama, "Hari hariyama." {Thank you. You are too.}
Lucario, -Fighting you is fun.-
Hariyama, "Yama hari!" {What fun!}
Ash, "Lucario push it up a notch and add aura sphere."
Brawly, "Sand attack. Let's push it up as well."
Lucario jumped and created aura sphere that he threw at Hariyama that the other one dodged only to widen his eyes because Lucario was throwing another one. It made Hariyama excited and he quickly used sand storm to create a smoke screen to protect himself from the attacks. However in the sand storm Lucario's eyes glowed blue which made Hariyama laugh in a very giddy manner. It made Gou and May's eyebrows go into their hair, they knew Hariyama had the notorious reputation of being the laughing fighter but hearing an actual laugh made a shiver go down their spine.
Ash grinned, "Hunt him down!"
Brawly, "Do your worst, we will fight you."
Ash, "You heard him Lucario. No holding back."
Lucario grinned his canines shining because of the aura, -Perfect!-
Hariyama laughed as he used focus punch just as Lucario used shadow claw to attack him and they started to trade blows. The fight lasted till the sand settled and both sides saw the two Pokemon were panting and their bodies littered with bruises and cuts all over. Ash tilted his head frowning, as much as he did not wanted to stop his Pokemon from having fun but he did not want to see them get hurt.
Ash, "Let's finish this with a final attack."
Brawly, "Hariyama you heard him whirlwind punch."
Ash, "Draco meteor!"
Hariyama attacked as Lucario focused his strength on one meteor instead of creating multiple meteors. Before Hariyama could touch Lucario he was hit by a large one which in Ash's opinion looked very familiar to a certain Geo meteor he told Lucario about before. Honestly he should not be surprised anymore his Pokemon enjoyed copying his fantasy work and try to replicate it in real life.
Referee, "Hariyama has lost the match. The victory goes to Lucario. Congratulations!"
