Pokemon: Radical Redux

Sycamore

(Pov Ash)

'Finally back from the trip and man it was torture trying to resist slapping that smug kid know-it-all. But the overall status report, I am 7, and next summer is the actual Oak summer camp where original Ash meets Serena. And my progress in Aura is coming along well. I can currently sense others, and others' emotions, and I can start to manipulate them into figures, but I still need to work on it more. And I get my stuff next year, I wonder how it will work.'

The next year started, and over this year a lot of things happened and I got to learn some valuable information.

Firstly it seems like Ev's are kinda a thing, they are less like things you get from beating Pokemon and more of what you can get from training or food. For example, if you have a Pokemon do strength training they up their physical attack, if you get them to get used as a punching bag they up their defense and HP, if you get them to run you up their speed, etc.

Next up abilities are a thing but they work differently, if a Pokemon has abilities it can be one of them, for example, a Nidoking can have both Poison Point and Rivalry but he can only use one. But if a Pokemon has a hidden ability it can also use it at the same time, for example, Nidoking has Sheer Force but he can also use one of his other abilities, so it can have Poison point and Sheer Force at the same time.

However, pokemon can also go under mutations that can be influenced by many things like family, birthplace, or the way it was raised. They can get a different type or a new ability they shouldn't have. But those are rare, not as rare as shinies but rare nonetheless.

The next interesting thing is combo moves do happen but they aren't used as much as you would think, all the big trainers like Lance or Leon don't use them, it's also rare for anyone to use them. Even though they are more powerful than normal moves, there are 3 main reasons why not many people use them. Firstly a Pokemon needs to have the potential to even try to use it, secondly, a Pokemon needs to create a move that none has ever done, and finally, a Pokemon needs to train that moves with no Idea how to do so because no one ever did it before, so extremely difficult.

The next big thing, levels are a thing, kinda. They are more like guidelines, that you can choose to listen to, for example, Nidoran♂ learns earth power at 55, but if trained or under certain circumstances it can learn them much earlier. Also, we aren't restricted to 4 moves thank God.

Also evolution, it's weird, the level is more like an 'it might be able to evolve' instead of a hard level cap, so a Dratini could evolve at Level 30, or it might evolve earlier or later instead, once again depending on how it's trained. Also, trade evolutions don't exist thankfully.

Natures and IVs are either not a thing or none knows about them either way they should be the easiest to figure out if they end up being real.

And as for classes, in the move tutor section in the ranger department things have been good. I got to learn most of the moves I want, but also I need more and I don't know if the next 2 years I have heard will be enough. For the medical classes, they're fine, very easy especially because for some reason pokemon anatomy is very simple to understand. Other than that everything else has been the same, and more bonding with my classmates is nothing new.

Oak has promised another guest to come to talk to us about his research, and today has been a more boring day, with no debates, no arguments, not even any guesses about who it may be, just some people talking to others. Until a certain green-headed sick boy approached me.

"U–um Ash can I ask you a question?" Wally asked. Ash responded, "You just did." It seemed like that made Wally a little sad so Ash quickly responded, "I'm joking, you walked right into that, anyway what did you want to ask."

Hearing this Wally cheered up a little and asked, "Ash how do you stay so confident about everything, you are smart and ask so many questions, and you're never afraid of anything, you even want to be a Pokemon trainer."

Ash responded, "Why do you want to know? To be honest I don't mind telling but you have to tell me, do you want to be a trainer too?"

Wally responded, "That's something I always wanted but couldn't because I'm too sick and scared my body would give up on me before I even got my first Pokemon. Besides, even if I decided that my uncle and aunt would never let me, they were too scared that something would happen to me." As he finished talking the class started looking at the two with interest to hear the conversation.

As that happened Ash thought, 'Well, might as well get out my best cheesy inspirational speech' so Ash answered, "Well to be honest, I am always afraid, I am afraid that something might happen while I am out on a journey, that I may not be able to beat the first gym, I am afraid that I won't even get through the viridian forest, but that's ok, I don't ask questions because I'm smart, I'm smart because I ask questions. If you want to be a trainer then talk to your family and they will understand if that truly is what you want to do."

"There is nothing wrong with being scared, what's wrong is doing nothing about it. Being scared and weak is how we learn about ourselves. It is an inevitable part of our lives. We WILL be weak and we will be scared at times in our lives but we will learn from them and grow in return. If you feel scared right now and feel bad about it DON'T. Enjoy it, this is you at this time in your life, and there's nothing wrong with that. You will grow out of it. I know this because you've already recognized that you are weak. You decided to talk about it, that makes you more brave than most people who are also afraid."

"So what if you're sick, so what if you fail, if that happens you can at least know you tried, and that's better than if years later you are stuck thinking about what could have been and how you should have been brave enough to follow that first step. But hey what do I know, nothing that's what, so you can listen to what I said or you can completely ignore me. That is up to you".

Before Wally could respond Oak came through the door and called everyone to their seats. As the class settled down Oak announced, "Today I invited Professor Sycamore from the Kalos region."

As he finished a man with black, curly hair, bluish eyes, and some facial hair under his ears. Wearing a blue shirt, black trousers with a yellow belt (which has a buckle shaped like a circle), and also wearing orange socks, and brown trainers with gray stripes came into the room.

"Hello everyone, I am Professor Sycamore, and I study Mega Evolution. Now some of you may know what this is, and some of you won't know but to put it simply mega evolution allows a Pokemon to achieve a form greater than their previous form, hence mega."

"For a Pokemon to mega evolve you need two things firstly you need a mega stone of the respective Pokemon" as he pulls out an orange-looking orb with yellow and red stripes, "and a keystone" as he pulls out a rainbow orb with a strange symbol.

As the class looks in interest at the two orbs he continues, "A Pokemon and trainer need to have one of each of these and a close bond to unlock the form." As he finishes he pulls out a picture and shows it to the class.

"This is a mega charizard, now what is strange is that some Pokemon can have multiple of these forms with different stones" he pulls out a blue orb with black stripes and a picture of a different mega charizard.

"What I research is what Pokemon may evolve, we have discovered a lot of mega stones but we still don't know two main questions, firstly their origin and secondly what Pokemon can mega evolve. Any question!"

As he said that the class erupted into a wave of hands everyone asking where they could get one or what Pokemon can mega evolve. Sycamore simply answered by saying that they could be found in the mountains, or you could get them by asking someone who has them.

As Oak was allowing Sycamore to leave Ash was thinking 'I haven't thought about that how am I going to get a Keystone, I can get mega stones by meditating with my Pokemon and the keystone but I don't have one, to begin with, and Ash only got him during Journeys. I might be able to use a mega stone to search for it but that may be unlikely, well problems for my future self.'

As the year ended Ash and Gary made preparations to go to the Oak's summer camp. The place where Ash met Serena, also the one he got up in time to get to.
