Chapter 385: Pokemon master of tactics: Chapter 385
Alex didn't wait in Area 4 and started looking around the Area 4.
This island is very big and it is not effortless to find a small group of Pokemon on this island. At least not within 1 or 2 hours.
Alex preferred to use the time to read the information from other Pokemon than to wait here for several hours and do nothing.
He only had to wait 40 minutes before he found another Born S-rank Pokemon.
---------
Pokémon: Rattata
LV: 12
Type: Normal
Abilities: Run Away
Gender: Male
Potential: Shallow Gold
Move:
-Tail Whip, Quick Attack, Focus Energy, Bite,
- (Innate Talent) Sunny Day, (Innate Talent) Rain Dance, (Innate Talent) Tackle
--------
'Lucky... but what's wrong with that Rattata? Sunny day and Rain dance? F*ck if it had a third weather move I'd think that Rattata thought he was a weather god.' thought Alex when he saw the status of this Pokemon.
This island truthfully had a lot of Pokemon with good potential.
Unfortunately, this Pokemon was far too weak for Alex to include in his team. Although Kingdra has the same born potential as this Pokemon, these two Pokemon are not comparable in Alex's opinion.
Kingdra Pokemon species, Abilitie, and Innate Talent moves are way better.
This Rattata is probably the worst Born S-rank Pokemon Alex had ever seen.
Alex wasn't even sure if [Tackle] was this Rattata's worst or best Innate Talent move. It was difficult to say. [Sunny Day] and [Rain Dance] are pretty bad but maybe useful in some matchups.
He stopped thinking about it and he started catching this Pokemon.
Alex also catches a lot of relatively untalented Pokemon that try to attack him.
Maria, Daniel, and Elise also occasionally catch a few Pokemon which they think are interesting.
...
Alex's group passed a small cave and saw a three-legged Pokemon lying lifeless on the ground.
This three-legged Pokemon was a Shinx, and it didn't move even when Alex's group came towards it.
It doesn't seem afraid of Alex's team. or at least it showed no emotion.
Alex checked the information of this Pokemon.
-----------
Pokémon: Shinx
LV: 9
Type: Electric
Abilities: Guts (hidden ability)
Gender: Male
Potential: Gold
Moves:
-Tackle, Leer, Charge
- (Innate Talent) Wild Charge [M], (Innate Talent) Iron Tail [E], (Innate Talent) Facade [E],
-----------
Alex was very surprised when he saw the information about this Pokemon.
Not only was it a Born Gold Pokemon, but it also had three very good Innate Talent moves. Furthermore, the ability [Guts] was pretty good. Especially with these three Innate Talent moves.
The only downside of this Pokemon is that it only had three legs.
This is a very big disadvantage and will greatly affect this Pokemon's Speed.
While Shinx is not completely useless, it's hard to be genuinely effective when his speed is that bad.
However, Alex knew a Professor from Professor Wälhder who can fix this problem.
This professor has specialized in Pokemon prostheses and can even nowadays create a prosthesis in flesh and blood that perfectly suits the Pokemon. But this process takes a relatively long time and needs the blood of the Pokemon that should get this prosthesis. In addition, it is very expensive.
An easier option would be if Alex had lost the leg of that Shinx and that leg wasn't in poor condition. If that's the circumstance, the Joy Clan can reattach this leg to the Pokemon that lost it. This option is also many times cheaper than the first one.
Unfortunately, healing moves like Gardevior's [Heal Pulse] can't regenerate limbs so that Alex only had these two options. Even with that Shinx's leg, [Heal Pulse] can't reattach it.
Bastiodon, who came first before Shinx, looked at him with a curious look.
He asked, "Why are you sitting here like that? Aren't you afraid of getting eaten by stronger Pokemon?"
Shinx looked at Bastiodon with emotionless eyes for a few seconds before he looked down again. He ignored Bastiodon who was even stronger than his old pack leader.
Bastiodon wasn't mad when he saw this and just said, "Ohh you don't want to talk? Sry, I didn't want to bother you."
Shinx, hearing this, showed a confused expression. He no longer had an emotionless expression. His surprise overwhelmed everything at that moment.
He looked at Bastiodon and said, "Why, do you apologize? You are so much stronger than me. It doesn't make any sense."
Bastiodon showed a thoughtful expression upon hearing this. After a few moments, he replies, "Hmm, dunno. It just feels right."
Alex, who arrived next to Bastiodon at that point, heard the entire conversation.
He was answering for Bastiodon. "The strong ones can always choose what they want to do and be. Bastiodon is Bastiodon and nobody can force him to be anything else. At least as long as I and my Pokemon are still alive."
Shinx just looked at Alex wordlessly for a few seconds. It seems like he didn't want to talk to Alex.
Gardevoir said telepathically to Alex, "Father, this Shinx is pretending to be emotionless but I feel a lot of emotion from this Shinx. Anger, hate, sadness, loneliness, and many others. This little Pokemon seems to be going through a tough moment right now"
Alex nods to Gardevoir's words. He also felt that this Pokemon hadn't given up the world completely yet.
He showed a small smile as he said, "Don't you think it's better to follow me and see what happens than to be here, waiting for your death?"
Shinx just gave Alex a confused look as he said, "Why do you want me? I'm completely useless in this state."
Alex replied in a serious tone, "You're only completely useless when you think you're completely useless. Why do you give up so easily? You have one leg less but that doesn't automatically make your talent or will weaker. You can still be a strong Pokemon."
Shinx's eyes started to lighten when he heard that.
"...Really... I can... Be... Strong"
Alex was very satisfied with Shinx's expression so that he said, "Besides that, I can help you find a suitable replacement for your leg... so it won't be difficult for you to get strong."
Shinx' showed a surprised and puzzled expression. "W-What...Why don't you tell me that earlier?"
Alex replied in the most playful tone possible, "why?...why do you think, I did that?"
Crobat, hearing this, suppressed his compulsion to throw a [Shadow Ball] in his trainer's face. He couldn't understand why his trainer is sometimes so smart and serious and sometimes so annoying.
Shinx looked at Alex wordlessly for a few seconds.
Then, with a small smile, he began to say, "...You're weird...but I think I'll fit in well with this team."
