Pokemon: I Transmigrated Twice

Chapter 26: Pokemon: I Transmigrated Twice [26]

The next day, Ichki arrived at the Cianwood City Pokémon Center.

His Pokémon weren't injured, but he mainly wanted to ask Nurse Joy about what had happened to his Exeggcute.

Oh, maybe he shouldn't call it Exeggcute anymore.

"Sorry, Ichki-kun," Saori explained, her eyes filled with curiosity as she glanced at the Pokémon beside him. It had three oval faces, a leafy crown, and a body resembling a coconut tree stump.

"We're only responsible for healing Pokémon here, not research. I'm not sure why your Pokémon ended up like this."

This was the second time in recent months she had seen a previously unknown Pokémon—first Stephen's Umbreon, and now this.

Other trainers in the center also glanced over, intrigued.

But this wasn't particularly rare.

After all, the Pokédex hadn't been fully developed yet. Professor Oak frequently introduced the public to Pokémon they'd never seen before in his lectures. For instance, the Dark type had only recently been discovered by him.

Dark-type Pokémon had even made headlines lately.

Saori analyzed further, "That said, we checked its body and found it to be in perfect health. If you want to learn more about this new species, I suggest heading to Kanto to ask Professor Oak."

Currently, Professor Oak was the highest—and sole—authority in Pokémon academia.

"Alright."

Knowing his partner was fine, Ichki felt relieved.

This must have been an evolution, right?

"So, what should I call you now?"

Ichki scratched his chin in thought.

The evolved form of Exeggcute... Was this the first instance in the world?

He had no idea what to name it.

"Hey, kid, your Pokémon... I've never seen one like it before."

At that moment, a young man approached curiously.

"Huh? What do you want?"

Ichki turned to him.

It was the same trainer from yesterday, the one whose Tauros had undergone surgery with Stephen.

"Nothing much, just passing by and noticed Nurse Joy couldn't answer your question," the Tauros trainer said, folding his arms.

"The League's standards are honestly terrible. Overpriced and mediocre service…"

"If that's all, I'm leaving."

Ichki wasn't interested in listening to complaints.

"Wait, wait! I know an amazing doctor by the beach. You could have them take a look…"

After his Tauros had been saved, he'd become a staunch supporter of Stephen.

"Huh?"

Ichki blinked.

His Pokémon wasn't sick, and his main issue was deciding what to call it. There was no need to see another doctor.

Besides, he doubted there was anyone better than the Joy family.

And this didn't seem like something a doctor could solve anyway.

If anything, a researcher like Professor Oak would be more suitable.

But seeing the trainer's glowing eyes when mentioning this doctor, Ichki decided to check it out.

After all, he had come to Cianwood City on a whim.

...

Before long, Ichki arrived at a standalone house by the beach, as the man suggested.

"This is the place... huh!?"

As he approached the door to knock, his expression suddenly changed.

Through the window, he spotted a black-furred Eevee evolution sleeping soundly by the curtain.

"Is that... the same one?"

Ichki muttered to himself.

When he looked again, Umbreon was suddenly awake, her crimson eyes glaring at him with caution.

Startled, Ichki fell to the ground.

At that moment, the door opened.

"What's going on here?"

Stephen raised an eyebrow.

Ichki quickly got up, brushing dirt off his pants.

"Well... I heard there's a skilled doctor here…"

"Oh? Your Pokémon's injured?"

"Uh… not exactly. It's just that it suddenly changed form, and I don't know why."

Though Nurse Saori had assured him his Pokémon was fine, Ichki released his newly evolved Pokémon for Stephen to see, just in case.

"Oh? Isn't this an Exeggutor?"

Stephen's eyes lit up—it was the first time he'd seen one since arriving in this world.

"Exeggutor? That's its name?"

Ichki was curious.

"You said it suddenly changed form? What exactly happened?"

Instead of answering, Stephen asked more questions.

Unlike Ash's time, the Pokémon world was still in its early developmental stage, with many unknowns, including undiscovered species.

Even the Fairy type hadn't been recognized yet, and trainers thought Jigglypuff was purely Normal-type.

"Uh…"

Ichki furrowed his brows, recalling, "I was camping in the Forest of Illusion I had all my Pokémon out, including Exeggcute. While setting up my tent, I turned around to find my Exeggcute gone. Instead, there was this… Exeggutor."

"I was so shocked I thought something ate it, but the others kept explaining until I realized this was my Exeggcute."

Ichki gestured wildly as he recounted.

Stephen squinted thoughtfully before asking, "Was there anything unusual around?"

Exeggcute required a Leaf Stone to evolve into Exeggutor. Currently, only Water, Fire, and Thunder Stones are sold online.

From Stephen's research, Leaf Stones hadn't been discovered yet.

This Exeggutor must've accidentally come into contact with a wild Leaf Stone.

Ichki thought for a moment.

"Not really... I camped in a clearing. The only thing around was a moss-covered boulder…"

Hearing this, Stephen immediately knew what it was.

A Moss Rock!

In the games, Moss Rocks had a similar effect to Leaf Stones, enabling Eevee to evolve into Leafeon.

"Don't worry, this is just normal evolution. Your Exeggutor is perfectly healthy."

As he spoke, Stephen grabbed a backpack and prepared to leave.

"Huh? Are you heading out?"

Ichki asked, confused by the sudden departure.

"I'm interested in that rock you mentioned."

Evolutionary stones were Stephen's primary research focus, and now he had a lead on a Leaf Stone. There was no way he'd pass it up.

Watching Stephen's departing figure, Ichki suddenly said, "Um… if you don't mind, I could guide you there. I've got nothing better to do anyway."

Though his words seemed casual, Ichki had his thoughts.

A rare black Eevee evolution, this guy's age and build… could he be Joker?
