Pokemon: I am Gary

Chapter 80: Chapter 80: The Hot Spring Village is a Battlefield

What should I do when surrounded by two of Team Rocket's four generals? Waiting online, it's urgent...

Looking at the extremely respectful duo in front of him, Gary Oak broke down. "I'm really not Giovanni's illegitimate son; please don't slander me!"

"Impossible~ With Boss's personality, he could go a month without a proper meal. You've received the essence of the earth, and you're still not his illegitimate son?" Archer was a hundred percent unconvinced.

Cough cough, "That's not important," Ariana interrupted Archer, speaking seriously. "We are here to extend an invitation to you; Boss Giovanni hopes you can visit the Viridian Gym when you have time."

Gary thought for a moment and felt there shouldn't be any danger, so he nodded in agreement. "No problem. I'll be heading back after visiting Cinnabar Island, so I'll stop by Viridian Gym then."

Calculating the time, if he returned early, he could take a look at Mewtwo.

After all, being one of the legendary Pokémon, Gary was quite eager to see Mewtwo.

"Then shall we exchange numbers?" Ariana asked tentatively.

"Oh, sure." Gary nodded; after all, they were just Team Rocket's four generals—what was there to fear...

After exchanging numbers with them, Ariana didn't linger and pulled Archer away.

Gary glanced at his ticket; it was for 8 PM—still early.

Wandering over to the port, he casually found a café and sat down.

The egg of Togepi emitted a warm milky fragrance as Gary cradled it, with Eevee resting on his shoulder, comfortably leaning against the window seat.

"Unknowingly, it's already deep autumn," Gary mused while watching the falling leaves outside. Traveling truly is a magical activity.

He had met many Pokémon and encountered various people; now even the boss of Team Rocket was part of his network.

"I wonder if this world line has an uncle with a son…" Gary pondered while stroking his chin, lost in thought.

In fact, if there wasn't one, inheriting Team Rocket wouldn't be out of the question—as long as he could clean up the organization, Team Rocket had great potential.

"Eevee~" The pink-bodied Eevee snuggled into Gary's lap, making him smile slightly. "What made you want to take this form all of a sudden?"

The sun spirit Eevee lay on Gary's knees and gently rubbed its head against his palm.

(Because I want to feel my master's emotions~) The soft voice of Eevee echoed in his mind.

As a sun spirit and Psychic-type Pokémon, Eevee had the highest emotional perception ability among all its evolutions—even surpassing that of its fairy-type evolution.

"Don't worry; I'm in a good mood." Gary patted Eevee on the head and sighed in relief.

Overthinking wouldn't help; since he had booked a luxurious hotel at the hot spring resort, he should enjoy soaking in the hot springs with his Pokémon and relax properly.

"I wonder what Lorelei is busy with right now; maybe I should invite her to join me for some hot springs~"

Thinking about it, Gary took out his phone and typed out a message to send...

Swish! A sound like flipping pages startled him as Gary froze. "Oh no! Group message!!"

Damn! Why doesn't this texting app have an unsend feature? Embarrassed, he covered his face—he felt like he was dying socially.

There were plenty of ex-girlfriends' numbers stored in there...

This is bad... this is really bad…

Ding ding ding ding… After a brief moment of silence, Gary's phone began vibrating incessantly.

Cold sweat broke out on his forehead—what should he do? He didn't dare look...

"Eevee!" Eevee patted Gary's pant leg encouragingly—believe in yourself!

With no other choice, Gary rubbed his hair helplessly and opened his phone.

"Caitlin returned to Unova; why didn't you say so earlier…"

"So awkward." Covering his face again, Gary felt overwhelmed.

Ding...

"Sabrina is a bit far; I'll arrive tomorrow!"

"Erika said: 'Professor Gary! This is too sudden; I think I won't go… If you insist on inviting me though…'"

"Caitlin: sniff sniff, back to Unova; let's play together next time."

"Lorelei just happens to be at Twin Island; she'll arrive tomorrow!"

"Professor Oak: Hahaha! My dear grandson, just enjoy yourself; I'm going with the old folks."

"What kind of hellscape is this?!" Gary completely lost color in his face.

"Golduck… (Why are you so anxious? You didn't give any commitments to these girls. It's said that one can roam through flowers without getting touched by any leaves.)" Golduck appeared nonchalantly and picked up Gary's coffee to drink...

Sigh… You don't understand… Gary felt like he was on the brink of social death...

In the distance, the ship's whistle blew as Gary clutched Togepi's egg and trudged onto the boat.

The sun spirit flickered and transformed into its dark counterpart—the moon spirit—shaking its head as it followed Gary onto the ship.

Ding ding ding…

Gary mechanically took out his phone.

"Ariana… there's still a mission. You can go to Team Rocket's affiliated resort hotel; using Boss Giovanni's badge will get you free accommodation…"

"Hehe… whatever." Gary lazily returned to his cabin and lay down. "Do I care about that little money?"

A sleepless night passed until morning sunlight streamed through the window. Only then did Gary step out of the cabin with Eevee.

The cool sea breeze tousled Gary's hair as he felt much more awake now.

Creak...

Suddenly, a crack appeared in the egg he was holding...

"No way! I haven't cracked yet! You cracked first?!" Panicking, Gary rushed back into the cabin and placed Togepi's egg on the bed.

The shell slowly broke apart as five or six sharp spikes emerged from above while a round little cutie appeared before him from below.

"Chakido~ Ee~!???~"

"So cute~" Holding Togepi tightly, Gary revealed a relieved smile.

"Chak chak~" The little guy wiggled its tiny feet continuously while rubbing against Gary. With Tokiwa's power surrounding him, it naturally exuded an irresistible charm for Pokémon!

"Bui~" Eevee turned its head away jealously... Men...

Carefully collecting the broken eggshell into his backpack, an idea struck Gary.

He could share happiness with everyone while celebrating Togepi's birth! What better reason could there be?

"Togepi**, you're truly my good luck charm!" He gave Togepi a big kiss happily.

Smack! Eevee bumped into Gary's stomach playfully.

Gary chuckled as he bent down and kissed Eevee on its forehead too—the little jealous one finally settled down.

"Alright! Let's get off the ship~" Hugging Togepi and taking Eevee along with him, Gary hummed happily as they disembarked from the ferry.

Even though deep autumn had arrived, Cinnabar Island, famous for its hot springs, was still quite warm.

Declining various inns' solicitations for guests, Gary headed towards the commercial street.

On either side of the main street were numerous souvenir shops and snack stalls popping up everywhere.

At the end of the street stood a magnificent hotel—a dazzling sight indeed!

This was Cinnabar Island's largest resort hotel run by the league. It not only had luxurious rooms and high-end restaurants but also fully equipped training rooms and gym facilities.

By chance, next door was Team Rocket's hot spring resort hotel that was slightly shorter…

After settling in with his luggage and watching Togepi dart around excitedly in chaos, Gary shook his head helplessly.

This child wasn't one to stay calm; he needed someone to help take care of it!

"Eevee~"

"Bui o′`o" Not quite suitable…

"Golduck… forget it; I'm afraid it'll lead him astray." Taking out some Poké Balls to release everyone made things complicated for Gary.

"Rapidash is too big; that won't work…" Looking at Rapidash with its intimidating traits made him shake his head. He didn't want Togepi to cry!

Just then, a cute purple blob appeared before him.

"Perfect! Gengar, you're in charge of taking care of Togepi! It's all up to you!" Taking out a baby bottle, Gary plopped it into Gengar's hands with a smack!

Gengar paused for a moment before instinctively starting to feed Togepi who was about to lick it!

"Gengar~ づ︶ど How does this healing work~"

Watching Togepi obediently eat in Gengar's embrace made Gary nod in satisfaction—now he had himself a caretaker!

"All right! Everyone rest here while I go buy some things." Leaving his Pokémon behind to guard their home base, Gary confidently headed out onto the street.

He needed to buy some red strings to thread through Togepi's eggshells.

A little good luck charm that brings happiness—surely no one would refuse that!
