Chapter 33: 33. Violet
Sophia certainly had no objection to the price offered by Evan.
On the contrary, she felt it was incredibly cheap.
She didn't try to take advantage of Evan but directly transferred five million Pokédollars.
This rich girl simply didn't hesitate to spend her money right away.
Evan was speechless when he saw the notification of the deposit on his account.
"Heh," Sophia chuckled. "I can't take advantage of you."
"As for the Dragon Skull, you only need to charge me one million Pokédollars. The rest has no value to me."
"My grandfather acquired the Dragon Skull for nothing anyway."
Saying this, Sophia winked at Evan.
...
So, you just used it to sell it at a cheap price?
Classic you.
Evan had nothing to say.
"Fine," he relented.
"If you want other customized energy cubes in the future, I'll give you a discount."
With that, Evan returned to his work. There were still plenty of tasks awaiting his attention.
Sophia, hearing Evan's response, was delighted.
Building a good relationship with a high-level Breeder with numerous recipes was bound to be a great help for her as a Trainer.
Next, Sophia started assisting Evan as best she could.
Although she couldn't contribute to many tasks, she still found small ways to be useful.
At noon, Sophia joined Evan in the orphanage's canteen for a simple meal.
After lunch, a large truck pulled up at the entrance of the orphanage.
Hearing the commotion, Sophia ran outside, joined by a sleek motorcycle.
"Violet!"
Seeing the approaching figure, Sophia darted ahead excitedly.
Evan and the orphanage children followed her outside, curious about the noise.
When he got a clear look at the visitor, Evan froze in shock.
"A… big duck??" he blurted out.
The newcomer had striking silver hair and an incredible figure.
Paired with that sleek blue motorcycle, the image sparked a wave of familiarity in Evan's mind.
Hearing his outburst, Violet turned her head in confusion.
"What big duck?"
"Are you Evan?" she asked, eyeing him critically. "The expert Breeder Sophia mentioned?"
Looking at Evan, who appeared about her age, Violet raised an eyebrow.
Could Sophia have been tricked?
And if so, had she dragged others into it as well?
Suspicious, Violet frowned, sensing this situation might be more complicated than it seemed.
Before Evan could say anything, Sophia quickly interjected:
"Evan is amazing!"
"He made a top-tier energy cube for my Garchomp!"
"Sister Violet, if you ever need one, you can also commission Evan!"
"He can do it all."
This statement brought more business directly to Evan.
When Violet heard it, her expression was full of skepticism.
Customized top-tier energy cubes?
Real or fake?
But she decided not to dwell on it for now and said to Sophia:
"Wait a moment."
"Sophia, the equipment you wanted has been delivered."
"Should we place it over there?"
Hearing this, Sophia turned to Evan expectantly.
Noticing her gaze, Evan quickly responded:
"Have it pulled straight to the breeding house."
"There's plenty of space there."
"It's just a short walk from here."
Evan pointed toward the road ahead.
"If you drive directly down this path, you'll reach the breeding house. The orphanage is located just outside it."
After Evan's explanation, Violet waved to the driver, signaling him to move the truck.
Once the driver left to handle the delivery, Violet turned back to Evan.
"Let's head over there too."
"If there's anything we need to discuss, we'll do it once the equipment is unloaded."
With that, Violet grabbed Sophia's hand and started walking toward the breeding house.
As they walked, Violet leaned in and whispered something to Sophia in a low voice.
Evan, seeing this exchange, felt a pang of exasperation.
Did they really think he couldn't hear them?
The whispers, the cautious glances—it was clear they still suspected he might be a fraud.
Evan sighed internally but chose to let it slide.
At that moment, Luna came up and tugged at Evan's sleeve, her bright eyes filled with curiosity.
"Brother Evan," she said excitedly.
"That sister is so beautiful."
...
"And what about it?" Evan replied, raising an eyebrow.
"Little fool, what are you thinking?"
Evan looked at Luna speechlessly.
Of course, he knew that woman was stunning.
She had the same striking aura as a model, and with her silver hair, she exuded a presence that could turn heads anywhere.
Luna chuckled mischievously and then exclaimed excitedly:
"Brother Evan, aren't you even a little excited?"
"Your luck has been on the rise lately."
"First, you meet someone as gentle as Sister Sophia, and now someone so beautiful."
...
Evan lightly flicked her forehead and grumbled:
"You're just a little troublemaker, you know that?"
"Where are you learning all these ideas from?"
"Kids shouldn't waste time reading nonsense."
Then, fixing her with a mock-stern look, he added, "And let me tell you this—if you dare to fall in love too early, I'll break your legs."
The thought of Luna maturing so fast unsettled him. The last thing he wanted was to hear her confess one day that she had a crush or worse.
If that day ever came, he might really lose his temper.
Luna, unfazed, made a playful face at him and declared:
"Blah blah blah, I won't fall in love early!"
"Love would just slow down my throws anyway. I'm going to be a champion, not waste time with silly stuff!"
Her confidence made Evan laugh despite himself.
Kids from the orphanage tended to mature quickly, and Luna was no exception. But she and the others all had clear goals, so he doubted they'd get distracted.
Evan shook his head, letting the matter drop.
"Fine, fine. Just don't make me regret trusting you."
With that, he followed Sophia and the others toward the breeding house.
---
By the time they arrived, the truck driver and a group of young workers were busy unloading equipment.
Sophia had clearly told Violet more about Evan's skills on the way. Now Violet was no longer skeptical but visibly impressed.
He's not a liar—he's incredible.
The fact that he could make top-tier energy cubes amazed her.
For Violet, this was a solution to a major problem. She had been struggling to find better energy cubes for her Pokémon. Advanced cubes weren't cutting it anymore for her high-level team.
At this critical stage, the right nutrition was essential. If her Pokémon could make a breakthrough, her chances of challenging for the Elite Four position would skyrocket.
The current Elite Four in the Dragon Kingdom were all veterans nearing retirement. Over the next few years, their replacements would inevitably be chosen.
This was her chance to rise.
If she succeeded, she could even aim for the Champion title.
---
Evan approached the unloading crew as Violet turned to him. Without hesitation, she extended her hand for a proper introduction.
"I'm Violet," she said confidently.
"Sophia told me you're able to customize top-notch energy cubes."
"If possible, I'd like to place an order. A large one."
"All six of my Pokémon need specialized cubes."
Her tone was serious, and her eyes sparkled with hope.
This was a big order.
She was clearly counting on Evan's expertise.
