Chapter 40: Deal with the enemies (2)
Eevee continued leading the group toward the Aerodactyl's cave, its small paws barely making a sound as it moved.
The team followed closely, their eyes locked on the little Pokemon, making sure not to lose sight of it. The night was quiet, except for the occasional rustling of leaves in the wind.
After a while, they arrived at the base of a large mountain. At the top, the dark entrance of a cave loomed over them.
Eevee stopped in its tracks and raised one of its front paws, pointing toward the cave.
The enemy team followed Eevee's gesture and lifted their heads, staring at the cave's entrance in the mountain wall. They had finally reached their destination.
Eevee then turned, ready to leave, but before it could escape, the team leader whispered something to one of his teammates.
The trainer of Geodude nodded in understanding and gave his Pokemon a quiet command.
"Geodude, use Stone Edge," he instructed.
Without hesitation, Geodude slammed its fists onto the ground, and suddenly, three massive stones erupted from the earth, trapping Eevee inside a rocky prison. Eevee's escape was blocked from all sides.
Before Eevee could even try to use Dig to escape, the leader smirked and ordered the Geodude trainer to take extra precautions.
"Now, use Mud Sport on the ground beneath it," the leader said.
Geodude obeyed, covering the ground inside the stone prison with wet, sticky mud using Mud Sport.
This would prevent Eevee from using the move Dig to escape. The leader crossed his arms, satisfied with his plan.
Kay, who had been watching everything from his hidden position in the trees, clenched his fists in frustration.
He wanted to run in and save Eevee, but he knew he was outnumbered. If he made a move now, it would only put himself and Eevee in even greater danger, so he decided to wait for the right moment.
Then, the leader raised his voice and shouted into the darkness, "I know you can hear me!" He was speaking directly to Kay who was still hiding.
"Don't worry. I'm only keeping your Eevee here until I confirm that the Aerodactyl is inside."
But in reality, the leader had a different plan. 'If the Aerodactyl is inside, we'll capture it first. Then, we'll attack Eevee to eliminate it from the battle. After that, we'll ask for another Pokemon and try to catch it to win the special item.'
Unaware of the leader's true intentions, Kay stayed silent, watching closely from his hiding spot.
Meanwhile, one of the enemy trainers turned to his Spearow and gave it an order.
"Spearow, fly up and check the cave. See if you can detect the Aerodactyl, but don't go inside. It's too risky in the dark."
Spearow flapped its wings and soared into the night sky, heading toward the cave entrance.
However, the darkness was too deep, and the moon was hidden behind thick clouds.
The small bird Pokemon circled the cave several times, but it couldn't see anything inside.
Eventually, Spearow returned to its trainer and shook its head, signaling that it had found nothing.
The team exchanged glances before coming to a decision.
"We'll have to climb the mountain ourselves," the leader announced. "Let's go."
One by one, the team members began climbing up the rocky surface of the mountain, moving carefully but quickly.
Only one person stayed behind; the Geodude trainer. His job was to guard Eevee and make sure it didn't escape.
As the enemy team members were climbing the mountain, almost reaching the cave, the Geodude trainer stayed behind, watching them carefully. He was focused on their progress, making sure nothing unexpected happened.
But suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps running toward him. His eyes widened in surprise as he turned around just in time to see Geodude rolling backward, knocked away after something hit it.
Standing in its place was a Growlithe. Before the Geodude trainer could react, Growlithe sprinted toward the stone prison where Eevee was trapped.
With two swift, powerful kicks, Growlithe shattered one of the massive stones using Double Kick, freeing Eevee instantly.
The sound of the breaking rocks echoed through the night, reaching the ears of the trainers climbing the mountain.
They all stopped in their tracks and turned around. What they saw left them completely shocked.
The leader of the team narrowed his eyes.' Another Pokemon? But how? ' He had been certain that only one enemy player was hiding in the forest. Where did this Growlithe come from?
Reacting quickly, the trainers gave their Pokemons the same order.
"Go down and help Geodude in the fight!".
Because of the harsh terrain of the mountain, the Pokemons needed some time to reach the battle, so until then the Geodude was in a two vs one battle.
As the Geodude trainer prepared for battle, he suddenly noticed movement from the forest.
A young man stepped out from the shadows, walking confidently toward the battlefield. It was Kay.
As the enemy team began processing what was happening, they began rushing back down, trying to control the situation. But Kay acted first.
"Eevee! Use Double Team, then Bite!" Kay commanded.
"Growlithe! Use Helping Hand!" he added.
The Geodude trainer chuckled at Kay's instructions. "Are you serious? Do you really think a weak attack like this can hurt my Geodude? Geodude, use Rock Throw! After you find the real one, use Stone Edge!"
Kay simply smiled, not answering. He knew exactly what he was doing.
Eevee dashed toward Geodude, splitting into multiple copies that launched toward the Rock-type Pokemon.
Geodude quickly attacked, launching rocks toward the Eevee clones. One by one, they vanished upon impact, but Eevee kept moving.
Just as Geodude jumped to use Stone Edge, Eevee was already in position. Moving at high speed, Eevee lunged forward and used Bite on Geodude's face.
The attack connected, dealing some damage, though not a significant amount, but it was successful in preventing Geodude from using Stone Edge.
"Eevee, one more time!" Kay shouted.
Eevee quickly retreated a short distance, preparing for another charge. Meanwhile, the rest of the enemy team's Pokemons were almost at the battle scene. The Geodude trainer saw this and took action.
"Geodude, use Ice Punch on Eevee!" he ordered.
Kay countered immediately. "Eevee, endure the hit and use Bite again!"
Geodude's icy fist struck Eevee in the face, causing it to shiver from the cold damage. But Eevee didn't stop. It pushed forward, using Bite on Geodude once more.
Again, the attack didn't deal massive damage, but this time, something unexpected happened; Geodude flinched!
Kay's eyes lit up. This was his chance.
"Now, retreat!" he commanded.
Without hesitation, Kay and his Pokemons dashed back into the forest, disappearing into the shadows of the night before Geodude recovered from its flinch state.
As Geodude recovered from its flinched state, it tried to move forward, but it was too slow.
Kay, Eevee, and Growlithe had already disappeared into the forest. Even the humans were much faster than Geodude, making it impossible to chase after them.
Geodude and its trainer stood there, waiting for the other team members to arrive. Soon, they came running down from the mountain, looking frustrated.
The same teammate who had been hesitating before turned to the leader and spoke angrily. "Didn't I tell you it would be a trap?"
The leader stayed silent for a moment, thinking. Then, he finally spoke.
"I know I said it wouldn't be a trap, but we can't be sure yet. When we were climbing, I noticed something interesting, there were large claw marks on the stone near the cave entrance. I think those were left by Aerodactyl."
The team members looked at each other, processing this information.
The leader continued, "It's true that the player escaped, but before we worry about that, we should check if the cave is really Aerodactyl's home. If it is, we can still complete our goal."
After a brief discussion, the team agreed. Instead of chasing Kay, they decided to continue climbing the mountain and investigate the cave.
This time, they took extra precautions. They agreed that no one would stay behind.
All of them would climb together, making sure no one was left alone to be attacked by another hidden trainer.
With their decision made, the entire team began their climb once again, moving carefully toward the cave.
