Chapter 36: Beautifly
Slateport City, taking a private helicopter from Mt. Chimney, it took less than 2 hours to arrive here.
Silently seated in his seat, Terrance closed his eyes to rest, reflecting on the experiences of the past month. For Terrance, this test had been an invaluable and rare experience, especially the process of growing together with Swablu. It was as if Terrance, who had only recently embarked on his journey, had undergone a baptism of sorts, his entire body emanating an indescribable aura. This was an indispensable refinement for every experienced and elite Trainer.
In other words, this month provided Terrance with the opportunity to put many theories into practice and he was able to personally observe the growth of a newly born Pokémon.
As Terrance savored the fruits of the past month, Master Victor approached with curiosity, eager to inquire about Terrance’s experiences.
Furthermore, Master Victor handed over Beautifly’s Premier Ball. Throughout the month, Beautifly had been under the care of Master Victor. After having a conversation with Beautifly, Terrance felt reassured about its well-being during the past month.
After a moment of silence, Terrance responded to Master Victor’s inquiry, saying, “I gained a lot. There is a notable disparity between the theories in books and the actual reality of Pokémon’s ecological environment. I learned how to raise a newborn Pokémon….and witnessed inherited moves’ continuously awakening…..Especially, Dragon Rush left the biggest impact on me.”
Terrance spoke slowly, and as soon as he mentioned the Dragon Rush Move, a gleam flashed in Master Victor’s eyes, and he burst into laughter.
“It seems you succeeded?!”
Master Victor laughed joyfully. Nothing excited him more than the success of an experiment.
“In that case, are you satisfied with this month of training?” Master Victor asked.
Terrance nodded in response, then sighed, “I’m starting to dislike battling.”
“A Breeder only needs sufficient knowledge. Battling is not the sole path for a person or Pokémon to grow.” Master Victor looked satisfied as he recalled the information he had investigated about Terrance.
From the moment he was born till he turned 6, his life was ordinary and there was nothing worth mentioning. However, after his parents died in an accident and he was adopted into the Old Green House, Terrance transformed into a different person—dedicated to studying, mature, and responsible. Everyone had high praise for Terrance, which was not easy for a child.
Master Victor sighed at Terrance’s life experiences, but he also faintly felt that perhaps only a child who had experienced such hardships could shine as brightly and be as outstanding as Terrance was now.
Although the guess was far from the truth, with the passage of time, Master Victor’s confidence in Terrance was growing stronger.
Especially now, after having gained a profound understanding of Terrance’s character, Master Victor looked at Terrance with a gaze filled with admiration and satisfaction!
“You must be tired because of this one month. Let’s take a break today and have a great meal tonight.” Master Victor smiled and stroked his beard.
…
…
Slateport City.
The sky grew dark.
Terrance again returned to the city. Under Master Victor’s arrangements, he no longer had that travel-worn smell. After taking a shower and changing into new clothes, Terrance enjoyed a proper meal, which he hadn’t done in a long time and felt great.
In the hotel room.
Terrance looked at the Premier Ball in his hand, feeling both nostalgic and delighted.
“Come out, Beautifly!”
A white light briefly flashed, and Beautifly’s magnificent figure appeared before Terrance’s eyes. As soon as Beautifly saw Terrance, it eagerly flew over and nestled into Terrance’s embrace.
“Beautifly… How have you been this past month?” Terrance greeted Beautifly with a smile. Both of them had missed each other during the course of the month.
“Buzz…” Beautifly happily cried out, and Terrance could feel its joyous mood.
Looking at Beautifly, who was clinging to him, Terrance could already see the significant changes in Beautifly despite the short one month. With Master Victor, the top-tier breeder, taking care of it, Terrance imagined that Beautifly must have had a more comfortable life than his own in this one month.
The present Beautifly seemed even more spirited than before, possessing a certain temperament it hadn’t had in the past.
“Sure enough…Environment truly determines a Pokémon’s temperament.” Over the course of the month, both Beautifly and Terrance had undergone significant changes. One had been living under the care of a top-tier breeder, enjoying the finest food, nutrition, and a playful and relaxed environment. On the other hand, the other had been dwelling in the wild, surviving on wild berries and rations, and traversing the forests daily. When comparing their living conditions over the past month, it was truly a difference between heaven and earth.
However, for Terrance and Beautifly, these experiences served as nourishment for their own growth.
“Now let me see what progress you’ve made in this past month.” Terrance smiled. He could sense that Beautifly had improved greatly in various aspects compared to a month ago.
Terrance was also curious to know about the progress Beautifly had made under the care of Master Victor, and where the gap between himself and a top-tier breeder truly lay.
“After that, I’ll tell you the story of Swablu and me in this past month. Tomorrow… I’ll take you to meet our new companion.” Terrance mused to himself as he gently tended to Beautifly’s wings. Clearly, Swablu’s matter still concerned Terrance to some extent, and one could even say he was feeling impatient.
A new companion?
Hearing this unfamiliar term, Beautifly gazed out at the night sky with a mixture of confusion and curiosity.
…
…
As the first ray of sunlight pierced through the sky, Terrance put on his jacket and freshened up. Beautifly hovered around him, continuously fluttering in circles around Terrance.
Taking strides towards the dining hall, he could see that Master Victor was already waiting for him. After having breakfast, as agreed upon, Terrance, Master Victor, and Beautifly boarded Master Victor’s private helicopter once again, heading towards Mt. Chimney.
Inside the helicopter, Terrance glanced out the window, growing worried about Swablu’s situation.
“Don’t overthink it. Your efforts will surely be recognized by Altaria. Swablu and the bond you share, Altaria will surely understand,” Master Victor reassured Terrance, sensing his concerns.
Master Victor had full confidence in Terrance.
Moreover, Master Victor held great interest in Swablu, who had awakened “Dragon Rush”.
This also involved an extremely important experiment that Master Victor, as a top-tier breeder, had been focusing on.
“Believe in Swablu. It will surely make full efforts to convince its mother… Your and Swablu’s future should not be confined to this tiny Mt. Chimney.”
Listening to Master Victor’s words, Terrance’s mood gradually eased. Indeed, he needed to have faith in Swablu. The effort and hardships he had gone through with Swablu over the past month were undeniable by anyone.
