Chapter 379: Chapter 379
[PS Event For
[+200PS= +1Chapter!]
"Chomp-chomp!"
A Totodile darted past Kirito and Asuna, joyfully spraying water, while its frantic Trainer struggled to keep up, wishing they had four hands to catch the mischievous Pokémon.
"Eevee!" ×4
Nearby, a group of four Eevee were rolling around in a playful brawl, tumbling together into a fluffy ball, while their Trainers stood by laughing, making no effort to intervene.
"Moo!"
Elsewhere, a Tauros and a Bouffalant were locked in a fierce headbutting contest, surrounded by an excited crowd placing bets and cheering them on.
The town square, where the teleport gate was located, was buzzing with energy.
Kirito and Asuna even spotted several familiar faces in the crowd.
"Looks like the event is already underway."
Kirito observed how Trainers had already begun chatting and introducing their Pokémon to each other.
"Yeah! The event runs all day, and people can come and go as they please. There's no official start or end!"
Asuna nodded enthusiastically, her excitement growing by the second.
Her eyes gleamed as she scanned the crowd, searching for the "perfect match" for her Pokémon.
At that moment, she looked exactly like a parent-in-law picking a spouse for their child.
"Sneasel! Look at that Meowth! …No, no, no, she's too flirty-looking. She might cheat on you!"
"Heracross, see that Pinsir over there? It's been eyeing you! Go see if you're compatible!"
"Asuna~!"
Just as Asuna was deep in matchmaking mode, a familiar female voice called out to her.
"Shoumei-neesan!"
Asuna turned and saw her best friend and guild leader, Shoumei.
And the sight startled her.
Shoumei was cradling a Bulbasaur in her arms, while several Grass- and Poison-type Pokémon crowded around her feet.
Among them were a Foongus, Turtwig, Phantump, Snover, Oddish, Shroomish, and Cacnea.
Behind Shoumei, a group of awkward-looking Trainers stood watching in silence—the owners of these eager Pokémon.
"Oh my~ Bulbasaur, you're so popular!"
Asuna immediately understood the situation and teased Bulbasaur by gently poking its forehead.
"Bulba~!"
Bulbasaur cheerfully waved its front paws at Asuna, but it completely ignored the Pokémon suitors gathered at Shoumei's feet.
"Haha."
Kirito chuckled at the sight.
It was obvious that Bulbasaur had no interest in any of the Pokémon around it.
"Well, I wanted to let Bulbasaur meet new Pokémon, but it refuses to leave my arms."
Shoumei sighed helplessly.
At first, Bulbasaur had happily wandered around, smelling flowers and playing in the grass—Shoumei had even taken dozens of screenshots of its adorable moments.
But as more and more Pokémon started following it around, Bulbasaur immediately climbed into her arms and refused to budge.
"Guess Pokémon have their own sense of attraction too."
Asuna nodded, feeling a sense of understanding.
Earlier, she had tried pairing up Sneasel and Heracross—but neither had shown any interest in their potential matches.
"Hee-la~"
Heracross spotted Bulbasaur and instantly reached out for a hug.
"You greedy little thing."
Shoumei flicked Heracross's horn, knowing exactly what it wanted.
Unlike other Grass-types, Bulbasaur's bud contained nectar—which Heracross couldn't resist.
"Asuna~!"
"Oh! Yuki~! You two came too!"
Asuna turned around and saw Yuki walking toward them—holding hands with Zack.
Zack looked a little embarrassed, clearly new to their relationship.
Since Kirito and Zack frequently exchanged intel, Asuna and Yuki had met often.
And because female Trainers were rare, the two girls became close friends very quickly.
However, this also meant Kirito and Zack had grown even closer as a result.
"Just finished up?"
Kirito walked over to Zack.
He knew what was coming next—
When Asuna and her friends gathered, the men were left to their own business.
"Yeah. Just took care of a rogue player on the 21st floor. The bastard even used his own Pokémon as a hostage before he died."
"Heh. People like that really exist, huh?"
Kirito smirked.
Ever since the Wanderers started helping the Avengers gather intel on Red Players, Kirito had seen every kind of scum imaginable.
At first, he struggled to accept such vile behavior—but eventually, it became just another part of the world.
"The guy's dead, but his Pokémon ran off into the 21st-floor forest, turning wild."
"Mm. The Trainer Association will handle it."
Kirito nodded knowingly.
"By the way, Sneasel seems really interested in that Sprigatito over there. Aren't you going to introduce them?"
Zack noticed Sneasel sneaking glances at a graceful-looking Sprigatito sitting elegantly in the distance.
"Huh? Really?"
Kirito was genuinely surprised.
He had assumed Sneasel wasn't interested in dating, so seeing it show an attraction was fascinating.
Grinning mischievously, Kirito patted Zack's shoulder.
"Excuse me for a moment."
"Go ahead."
Kirito whispered into Asuna's ear.
Her eyes instantly lit up, and without hesitation, she grabbed the utterly confused Sneasel and rushed toward Sprigatito.
Sneasel panicked, realizing the distance was closing fast—
It struggled desperately, trying to escape—
But Kirito held it down firmly.
Meanwhile, Sprigatito was licking its paws on a round table.
It glanced at its Trainer, who was deep in conversation, then sighed dramatically.
Smack!
"Meow?"
Sprigatito turned—only to see a frozen-stiff Sneasel placed beside it.
It also noticed two humans staring at them from across the table.
Sprigatito didn't care much for humans—but the weirdly rigid Sneasel caught its attention.
It sniffed him cautiously.
"…"
Sneasel stood completely still—even holding its breath.
Sprigatito circled him, tilting its head.
It could see his ID and smell his scent—
But why was he acting like a statue?
Suddenly—
[HP -10]
"Meow?"
Sprigatito flinched.
Something had damaged Sneasel—but why?
It turned and saw a human finger poking Sneasel's side.
"Nyuu! Hahhh…"
Sneasel gasped loudly, finally breaking out of his self-imposed paralysis.
Sprigatito burst into laughter, finally understanding what was going on.
Seeing how shy Sneasel was, it playfully brushed its tail against his cheek.
"Asuna… If Sneasel doesn't make a move soon, he might lose his chance forever."
Asuna crouched beside the table, whispering encouragingly.
"…"
Kirito remained calm on the outside but was silently rooting for Sneasel.
"Nyuu…"
Encouraged, Sneasel trembled—
Then, mustering all his courage, he grabbed Sprigatito and planted a kiss on its cheek.
Sprigatito's eyes widened in shock.
Its elegant demeanor instantly vanished, and it turned bright red, covering its face with its paws.
"Yayyy!"
Asuna squealed, nearly falling backward—
"…!"
Kirito caught her just in time.
And so, under the watchful eyes of their Trainers, Sneasel and Sprigatito officially became a couple.
A group photo was taken to commemorate the moment.
Later that night, Sprigatito's Trainer visited Kirito and Asuna's home for dinner—where Asuna's cooking left everyone speechless with delight.
