For Umbreon to evade, it would require either a sudden burst of speed or specialized training in evasive maneuvers; otherwise, avoidance was unlikely.

Umbreon charged directly through the scorching flames towards Lian, seemingly undeterred by the burning heat, overcoming the fiery obstacle effortlessly.

Lian couldn't help but admire Umbreon's resistance to Special Attack moves—it appeared exceptionally high. This Umbreon must have undergone specific training in this area.

Just as Lian prepared to unleash Dragon Rage, Umbreon reached him and lunged forward with its head.

Swiftly retreating, Lian attempted to dodge, knowing that if he were knocked down by Umbreon, there was a high chance of being bitten. Once caught in a continuous Bite move, executing his own attacks would become challenging.

Umbreon's head collided with Lian's stomach, causing him to stumble back slightly, yet without inflicting significant damage.

He quickly stepped away, rubbing his abdomen, feeling no pain at all. Quick Attack, being a Normal-type move and not even Umbreon's primary type, honestly had minimal effect considering Lian's current defensive capabilities. Based on the data, this Quick Attack consumed only about one-eighth of Lian's Stamina, akin to a mere tickle.

Without hesitation, Lian countered with Dragon Rage immediately after being struck. Despite their close proximity, it was still sufficient distance for him to unleash this move. However, once he finished casting, Umbreon swiftly charged forward using Bite.

Lian had mastered this combo flawlessly; opening his mouth, he unleashed Dragon Rage instantly. The intense shockwave directly hit Umbreon, sending it flying backward before it could reach him.

Umbreon tumbled through the air, managed to flip, and landed steadily on its feet. Nevertheless, it appeared quite worn out, covered in burn marks and panting heavily.

Despite Umbreon's strong Special Defense, Lian's Special Attack was no slouch either. Combined with Dragon Rage, although Umbreon could withstand the initial assault, it certainly couldn't endure another round of such intensity.

Moka clearly recognized that this Charmeleon was exceptionally powerful and agile. While Umbreon could hold its own defensively, it struggled to land any successful attacks. Even the most resilient Pokemon can eventually be defeated if unable to strike back effectively.

"Umbreon, use Rest."

Moka issued his command, having made up his mind. Since Charmeleon excels at Special moves with significant power, he would rely on Umbreon's recovery ability to gradually wear down the Charmeleon.

Unfortunately, Charmeleon lacks any healing moves. Even if it used Rest, allowing only one attack afterward, it still wouldn't be ideal. It was regrettable that Fire-type Pokemon cannot suffer from Burn status; otherwise, inflicting Burn on Umbreon could have also affected Charmeleon.

Umbreon closed its eyes and promptly entered a state of sleep, showcasing Moka's effective training. The use of the Rest move by Umbreon demonstrated remarkable proficiency.

The Rest move not only heals physical damage but also rejuvenates a Pokemon's mental state. Naturally awakened Pokemon would exhibit excellent vitality. However, Moka forcefully interrupting Umbreon's sleep disrupted the restoration of its mental energy, leaving only the physical healing intact.

This is significantly detrimental to the Pokemon. Imagine being repeatedly woken up just as you're falling asleep; it's clear how harmful this can be for both humans and Pokemon alike.

"Umbreon, use Snarl!"

Moka changed tactics, abandoning Quick Attack in favor of a dark-type special move: Snarl.

While Snarl isn't particularly powerful, being a dark-type move gives it more impact than Quick Attack.

Since approaching Charmeleon to use Bite wasn't feasible, Umbreon had no choice but to employ ranged moves to wear down its opponent. Fortunately, with Sleep available for recovery, there was little need for concern.

As Lian unleashed Flamethrower, Umbreon followed its command and began using Snarl, verbally scolding and cursing at Lian in Pokemon language.

To Trainers, Snarl sounds like continuous loud cries from a Pokemon, but Lian understood that Umbreon was incessantly berating him. With the infusion of dark-type energy, it caused immense discomfort to Lian.

Even though Rest could be used repeatedly, Umbreon's moves were too weak, and its stronger abilities required close proximity to execute. After using Quick Attack, it would have to face both Flamethrower and Dragon Rage, inevitably necessitating another use of Rest.

Continuing this endless cycle, it would be impossible to predict when Umbreon might defeat the Charmeleon.

Easier said than done.

Lian inwardly chuckled, knowing his proficiency with Flamethrower and Dragon Rage was exceptional. Each move appeared casual yet executed with remarkable precision.

Once again, Umbreon was sent flying, looking utterly disheveled. Without using Rest, it couldn't withstand another Flamethrower.

"Umbreon, use Rest!" Moka issued another command, visibly noticing Umbreon's shudder; the Pokémon clearly did not want to wake up prematurely again due to the discomfort.

"Moka, don't force Umbreon to wake early again. It doesn't have the Early Bird Ability; you're pushing Umbreon beyond its limits!" Kalia seemed to understand Umbreon's thoughts and urged Moka loudly. She couldn't bear witnessing Umbreon endure such distress just for winning a battle.

Occasionally using Rest as a counter-strategy was acceptable, but repeatedly relying on it could severely strain the Pokémon.

Hearing Kalia's words, Lian observed Umbreon and noticed its red eyes filled with exhaustion—clearly showing mental fatigue. He had experienced such weariness himself before.

A Pokemon's mental state is crucial, as it determines whether they can continue using their moves effectively. While not completely incapacitating, severe mental strain can hinder a Pokemon from executing their abilities properly.

Moka, taken aback, realized he wasn't being foolish. Upon hearing Kalia's concern, he looked closely at Umbreon.

Umbreon clearly didn't want to use Rest again, gazing at Moka with weary, bloodshot eyes, causing his heart to tremble.

"Umbreon, return."

Moka changed his command, opting to recall Umbreon into its Poké Ball for rest. The bond between them was strong, considering he had personally evolved Eevee into Umbreon.

Swiftly, the injured Umbreon returned to its Poké Ball, and Moka retrieved another one.

Kalia, observing Moka's actions, nodded approvingly—it was the right decision. Seizing the opportunity, she called out, "Charmeleon, continue Flamethrower!"
