Chapter 4: Meeting Leaf

.................
Barry wasn't the most optimistic person about the Pokémon series. The series was about a boy named Ash Ketchum who was on a journey of self-growth for himself and his Pokémon. There were quite a lot of plotholes in it that made one really wonder if they would actually be able to understand it truly.
The plotholes made no sense when the series was compared to that of its predecessor which was about a boy named Red on a journey to catch all the Pokémon, but the goal later to "become the strongest".
An example of a plothole was the fact that fire types attacks which did little damage to rock types in generation 1 to generation 8, yet, a Charmander had used fire spin; a move that did damage over time-was able to take down a Golem.
After Ash's adventure ended it was replaced by a new series, "generation 9", and the Paldea region.
Yet the young man in Room 3 of the hotel didn't care of the amount of plotholes that existed. He was just glad to be in one of most profitable anime to ever exist.
…
Barry stared wide-eyed at the purple Pokémon. It wasn't even a meter tall and wasn't going to reach a meter until he did something about that. A moon stone was the only solution to the problem about the height of the Pokémon.
As much as short Pokémon would be admired for their speed, agility and evasiveness, a Rattata can't defeat a Groudon. Size determined how much power would be in an attack in the world of Pokémon, though it was different in Dragon Ball for Piccolo it wasn't like that in Pokémon.
"Hello little guy." Barry said as he admired the Pokémon in front of him. "I'm your trainer from now on."
The Pokémon only tilted it's head and wondered if the person speaking was serious? Many people had that dream but only a select few get to the top 4.
From it's behavior and the several Pokémon fanfictions he had read Barry could deduce the Pokémon to be at the premature (baby) stage of life.
That was good in the long run but disadvantageous in the short run since many this was the time used in strengthening the Pokémon from the base. This was also disadvantageous since he was supposed to be in the top 16 of the indigo league.
"Well, since this isn't a dream my main goal should be strengthening the bonds for mega evolution." He said to himself.
He decided to give the Pokémon some food but was confused when he couldn't find food for either himself or his Pokémon. This was to be expected since he had never been in a hotel.
He found a pamphlet lying on the table and in it was information. After he had gotten enough knowledge about hotels he quickly ordered some food for himself and his Pokémon.
Barry placed the bowl full of Pokémon food next to Nidoran.
"Better eat up because we have a lot of things to do." He informed the baby Pokémon.
It would not be ideal to give a baby Pokémon food that was for mid-age (teen) to adult Pokémon but it should be able to adapt or survive. If it did adapt to the food that will save his money by quite a bit.
Right now his main concern was to attain a position in the indigo league as above top 16. Just getting the cut-off mark wasn't enough for him.
He would have to strengthen their bond while training because he couldn't afford to waste any time. It was like skipping school and then getting a job as a doctor. You might just murder more than 50 people "accidentally" before you get half-decent at even getting the spleen out without causing permanent damage.
"I played the games so I should be all right. I also read Pokémon books so I should have more knowledge than most people in this world." Barry told himself.
He played the Pokémon Gba games more times than he could count! He also played the NDS Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver and the others.
Then he even read the book! That wasn't something most people read. It would seem like something that pirated and he didn't know if it was or not. Pokémon the book was…
On another note he planned to use the Pokédex to check the moves of his Nidoran when the prof. gave them one.
After Nidoran had finished the hearty meal that was presented before it Barry decided the next move he would need to take:
1. He could meet Leaf or random dude to help him go over some stuff about this world and Pokémon.
2. He could train by himself and hope everything would go for the better.
He decided to meet Leaf and ask her a few questions. Nidoran (M) wasn't the ideal Pokémon as a starter. Then considering that he didn't know the egg moves of a male Nidoran, someone who went to the Pokémon Academy would be a great help.
"Nidoran, let's go!" He said to the Pokémon.
There was this feeling of nostalgia that came with owning a Pokémon. Whether it was the fact that owning a Pokémon was among the top 3 childhood dreams of a child, among those were:
1. Transforming into a Super Saiyan.
2. Owning a Pokémon.
3. Being as fast as Sonic.
Number one was so popular that when the DBS series came out and a shortcut was revealed on how to transform into a Super Saiyan, 90% of the anime watchers tried it.
10% played imaginary Pokémon battles.
He walked towards room 1 as that was where he expected Dawn to stay. The teen body was not made for handling a woman, which was why God created adulthood.
Barry knocked at the door expecting to be told to come in or go away. Instead, a young teen that looked about 15 years old answered.
She didn't wear anything that was meant to attract attention. Hell, she would've been taken for a guy if you didn't look at her face.
The person who answered the door was Leaf. Her dress for the evening were baggy pajamas that had many small light bulb designs on it.
"Oh, hey Barry, what's up?" She asked.
But her attention instantly shifted from the boy to the Pokémon in front of her. Though Nidoran (M) weren't the cutest Pokémon, a baby Pokémon was still cute nonetheless.
"Your Nidoran is so cute." She told him as she watched its behavior in awe.
Nidoran was trying to use one of its forelegs to scratch its nose. The movement was one that inspired awe into the eyes of the watcher.
It pleased Barry to know that not all people were mindless enough to pet a Nidoran (M), he did know one or two people from this verse that was stupid enough to do something like that.
"Come in." She gestured to him.
Barry walked in with his Nidoran behind him. It was observing the new environment.
On a small sleeping bag, a Bulbasaur laid comfortably. It too was just barely passed its infant stage like Nidoran but managed to put the onlookers in a captivating show of what peace was like.
"Your Bulbasaur is also cute." He told her as he sat on a recliner near of the four walls of the room.
She nodded her head as if to acknowledge the fact without making the baby Nidoran aware.
"Well, I was also shocked when the professor handed over a Nidoran to you instead of the Charmander you always wanted." She said sympathetically to her friend from school.
"I still wouldn't have gotten a Charmander even if I had come first." He informed her.
"Why's that?" She asked him puzzled. The Pokémon professor was like a symbol of honesty, no favoritism and the others. Hell, he wasn't even a racist!
"Red would always get the Charmander no matter which dimension." Barry stated matter-of-factly. "He has more determination, courage, tenacity and willpower than I do."
"But I was as surprised as you when I saw Ash Ketchum was among the top ten." Barry joked.
He didn't know Leaf but having a conversation with her almost felt like second nature for him. It was probably because Ash did the unexpected.
Especially if the subject was Ash's achievement!
"I want to ask you something…."
